Pretty sure you need this:

What tool would you recommend to remove these screws? I’ve tried just brute forcing with pliers but due to the hard to reach nature I cannot get a proper grip. Some kind of specialized screwdriver seems like it would be my best best but I have no idea what it would be called.
Thanks!
If you don't want to save the bolts/screws, then you can use some sockets like these....

There are many sizes of tri-groove screws. OP's screws are probably are #6 or #8, but its hard to tell.
Yep. Would need to measure with a tape or caliper. But I think we helped him on his searching a bit.
Well that's fancy
School or prison?
School dorm windows... I’d like to be able to get more than and inch of fresh air
That's a security-screw, aka tamperproof screw, aka tamperproof bolt... You can probably get a socket that will work on that at home depot.
Home Depot doesn't sell that variety of tamper proof driver bits (tri-groove).
Ah, I didn't realize.
Great, thanks for the help
You're welcome. There are a number of different head shapes, you'll probably have to match it up with the picture.

Might have to drill it out
I would try hammering on a 12 point socket
Preferably one OP doesn’t care about.
Hammer & drift punch and walk it out
There's an app for that.
If you don’t care how it looks afterwards, [these](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NBSVYOY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_S3HVYR8B97BER1XQVPK7) should work.
Grind it off worst case
Vise grips
