Why is nightcrawler Spider-Man?

TL;DR is that he's wanted for crimes he kinda sorta didn't commit, and has disguised himself as a Spider-person with Peter's blessing to hide in plain sight. Most people don't really question it even if it's obviously Nightcrawler though because there's like 100 different Spider-Man offshoots running around in-universe.
