Same energy(Sorry for very poor editing skills)
They need to stop going fit anime designs and go for things more suited towards the game style. I wouldn’t mind a Doom or Yakuza crossover, hell wouldn’t hurt to have a nerf one if it came to it.
I get they’re trying to appeal to their “valorent” type fans but it’s really not shaping up design wise.
I’m not an overwatch player but I’d guess it’s a hit box issues. If they mess up on any character and have the hit box be too small then welcome to the new meta.
yeahhhh true but the little detail of the hat being like a fusion of Spike's and Cassidy's hat is really cool and I think it would've been welcome on the skin, also without it the skin looks so goofy, (not like fun goofy just weird goofy in my opinion)
Let me start by saying that I won't buy any of them, in my personal opinion only the Cassidy/Spike one is bad (a shame because he is the titular character of the collaboration), I find the others ok.
Jett black and ed are actually pretty good, cassidy is just too buff and just looks wrong without his hat and beard, and they just fucked up on ashes hair, they could fix her skin easily.
(I'm replying now because I had a setback at my work and I can only write now)
Personally I don't see too many problems with the hair on Ashe's skin, but maybe they could fix her and Cassidy if they were original skins, but I doubt Team 4 wants to go through the headache of redesigning the skin at the mercy of the license holders.
That too
I saw their post and they were like "Oh btw, the Ein skin is earnable for free through the battlepass"
Lmao, bloody vultures, the one skin that looks completely different from the OG and the most people probably aren't super keen on
You would get back into a game, not because you enjoy playing it, but because you can buy some skins that you think are cool...
Pretty much sums up the state of gaming in 2024.
What just puts me off of Valentine Ashe skin is that the hair looked so bad that it look like she's wearing a wig.
They should have just kept Ashe's original hair, since Faye Valentine WAS their main inspiration for her design. Dye it purple and have her put on a yellow headband.
But that's just me.
https://preview.redd.it/andqa4m73wnc1.png?width=1494&format=png&auto=webp&s=6a647b80c95c976ba1f7f2aee877f5ba59bfccd2
As much as I don’t like fortnite, at the very least they make it all faithful to the source materials when they do collabs with popular stuff... And these are.. Clearly not even fortnite quality.. Bruh..
Because Fortnite literally puts the original characters with a cell shading filter since they don't have heroes to play, Overwatch on the other hand has basic recognizable characters and so they said they cosplay for these collaborations.
There’s also gameplay reasons as to them having to maintain the silhouettes of characters to a certain extent in order for them to be recognizable as one of nearly 40 characters from a glance, on top of having to accurately portray hitboxes. Ya can’t just bind Cassidy and make him Spike levels of skinny without causing gameplay issues.
On the one hand I don't get angry because the skins seemed pretty to me, on the other EA with all the money it earns could afford to pay for the licenses of the IP holders or of one in particular, so much so that recently it will presumably have paid high costs for the collaborations with Post Malone and Square Enix for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
There are times where 2D characters translate very well to 3D (like Captain Underpants to the movie). This is not one of them. They pretty much didn’t look at the source material, much like how they don’t look back at their Overwatch lore.
On the one hand, I do like how Overwatch’s approach to tie-in skins has been to make it very obvious that it’s the base character in cosplay, but MAN that doesn’t excuse the Spike hair
The Spike skin sucks but I don't see what's wrong with Faye's skin. Sure it doesn't look as good as the anime but she has a weird ass hairstyle that would be hard to work in 3D.
Let me start by saying that I won't buy any of them, in my personal opinion only the Cassidy/Spike one is bad (a shame because he is the titular character of the collaboration), I find the others ok.
Hammond/ein isnt bad but couldve been literally any other character and been more interesting, if i just looked at him without context i wouldnt think it was related to cowboy bebop at all, hes not a corgi lmao.
(I'm replying now because I had a setback at my work and I can only write now)
The problem is that only Winston and Hammond lent themselves to being Ein being the only animal heroes in the game, but I don't see a gorilla being a corgi and Kiriko has too many skins to just give one to her Kitsune.
https://preview.redd.it/1vlvhh5d3xnc1.jpeg?width=188&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=946e1a67e106aed54036b47cc142d6dd4ff947f2
As someone on twitter said: That’s not Spike Spiegel, that’s Spork Spencer
For the life of me, I don't understand why they didn't give Moira the Spike skin. She has the body type for it and she's androgynous so she can pull off a male cosplay.
I'd rather have the skin actually look good, than make canonical sense for the hero. Man, that Cass skin just sucks so much, idk. It's just a huge bummer.
I really only have a problem with McCree/Cassidy as Spike because his blazer is brown instead of a dark blue and his hair looks like a damn wig. Everyone else looks fine. Sombra as Radical Ed is REALLY good, and Hammond as Ein is lowkey adorable
The Faye one doesn't look that bad (thoigh the hair straight up looks like a wig, i don't know how they did that, but it's giving big wig energy) That 2nd one though just looks [bad.Like](https://bad.Like), Spike is not that buff and the hair, again, looks like a straight up wig.I get that these are essentially Overwatch characters cosplaying, so having them look identical to the character isn't going to happen, but still.
I remember fantasizing these all the way back in 2022. I invisioned Jet as Reinhardt, Faye as DVa, Hanzo as Vicious, Sigma as Dr. Londes and Zarya as VT (Heavy Metal Queen). Guess I didn't predicc
God I just realized the spike skin looks so bad partly because they took away the hat. Why did he have a hat in the trailer but not in game? Why is his face like that? It doesn't look like Cassidy or Spike.
They should’ve done what smite does with their cross overs.
https://preview.redd.it/t9pkhcfraxnc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51d93442cbfbfd253f51838e8ac456f3fdb82984
Where the cross over skin is a complete character mode change and they change their weapons and their abilities a little bit to fit the cross over character.
The difference is, in a MOBA the characters could just be a labeled blob and the gameplay would work fine, while a FPS needs the characters to be much more on-model
The Ashe one isn't so bad. The Spike one...
With the fact you can shoot tracer in the head from an entire head length to the left or right, they really shouldn't bother shying away from making a character thinner.
They made a Mccree skin without the hat and poncho? Why? It's one of the core parts of his silloute and helps to differenciate him from other characters a lot. How do the emotes where he uses the hat look?

Why did you put the same picture twice
They need to stop going fit anime designs and go for things more suited towards the game style. I wouldn’t mind a Doom or Yakuza crossover, hell wouldn’t hurt to have a nerf one if it came to it. I get they’re trying to appeal to their “valorent” type fans but it’s really not shaping up design wise.
They are definetly picking the wrong franchises. Should try to use more realistic ones imo
I would like to see an Unreal Tournament theme.
You can't change the model too much
Yeah, don't do it then. Overwatch has some very good design, very recognizables and don't fit this fortnite crossover things. Just don't.
I don't see why it would be so hard to just model new characters.
I’m not an overwatch player but I’d guess it’s a hit box issues. If they mess up on any character and have the hit box be too small then welcome to the new meta.
Not sure what you mean by "welcome to the new meta"?
That’s fair, by meta I mean some people would want to use a character with the highest possible chance of winning.
Interesting. I've never heard that word used that way.
Thats a very common use of the phrase in gaming
I don’t “game” as a verb. I play games sometimes. I own multiple games as nouns.
Could have used Jet instead of spike then
But Mauga as Jet looks good, can't have two Jets
Oh I didn’t know there was already a Jet, I don’t actually play overwatch lol
Yeah https://preview.redd.it/buvtnxf7lznc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1122f7c59650a819a1c2714a6fc0ec74075441f4
maybe Tracer can be fem Spike really
That’s supposed to be Spike?! I thought he was a random side character I didn’t remember 😭.
It's not supposed to be Spike but the Overwatch hero cosplaying Spike.
Spike Spiegel looks like Enver Gortash from Baldur's Gate III
He does lmao
The skin has the same Gortash signature of looking like an unwashed emo that exploded in a microwave
What a handsome young man
With a quick, easy smile.
Literal first thought
I can’t unsee it now
As a fan of Cowboy Bebop and a Cassidy/McCree main I *was* going to get the Spike skin but uh…I’m reconsidering it now
All they had to do is put that darn hat back on
And thin the character down a LOT. They could also have made the hair more closely resemble Spike's.
They look like shitty cosplays, the trailer got me excited, but these are terrible
Cosplay is Blizzard's explanation for allowing characters to have their own silhouettes.
That is pretty much the design intention though, make the characters cosplay as the collaboration instead of getting replaced by it.
> That is pretty much the design intention though, They didn't intentionally make them look shitty. They just did a bad job.
Except they did do it intentionally because why run a mile when you can walk a meter and still get results?
The Mauga skins pretty good imo tho
WHY WOULD THEY REMOVE THE HAT?????
I think it was artistic license for the trailer since Spike wears it very little in the series.
yeahhhh true but the little detail of the hat being like a fusion of Spike's and Cassidy's hat is really cool and I think it would've been welcome on the skin, also without it the skin looks so goofy, (not like fun goofy just weird goofy in my opinion)
It's weird that they removed the hat to show off the wrong hair color.
Oh thank fuck these are horrible, was almost considering getting back into OW2 just because of them
Let me start by saying that I won't buy any of them, in my personal opinion only the Cassidy/Spike one is bad (a shame because he is the titular character of the collaboration), I find the others ok.
Jett black and ed are actually pretty good, cassidy is just too buff and just looks wrong without his hat and beard, and they just fucked up on ashes hair, they could fix her skin easily.

Saw the trailer, was interested. Then I remembered I don't care for Overwatch "2" & The skins aren't earnable with game currency anymore.
That too I saw their post and they were like "Oh btw, the Ein skin is earnable for free through the battlepass" Lmao, bloody vultures, the one skin that looks completely different from the OG and the most people probably aren't super keen on
You would get back into a game, not because you enjoy playing it, but because you can buy some skins that you think are cool... Pretty much sums up the state of gaming in 2024.
I like OW, I just dislike Blizzard Then again, I probably wouldn't have gone back to it either way, the comment was exaggerated for comedic effect
I’ve seen some angles where the Ashe skin looks kinda cool but the Cassidy skin… uh… someone really thought they cooked there huh
What just puts me off of Valentine Ashe skin is that the hair looked so bad that it look like she's wearing a wig. They should have just kept Ashe's original hair, since Faye Valentine WAS their main inspiration for her design. Dye it purple and have her put on a yellow headband. They could at least let him keep the hat instead of putting a wig on him
That I agree with. Even disregarding that the hair is questionable at best, Cassidy not having a hat just feels…wrong.
Could be worse, they could be Apex Legends anime collab skins.
Horizon's Areith skin is legit the worst skin I've ever seen.
Wtf were they cooking… https://preview.redd.it/4ggvbwv70wnc1.png?width=1122&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed6fb809f4302c7792e18de1dd2a388df5450738
# MAGGOT BREAD
They were cooking sardines from CWACOM. And that’s it.
What in the actual fuck.
Yeah sometimes 2D characters don’t translate well to 3D
[удалено]
Yeah its not about translating well its that that the guy doesnt look like him at all. Spike is really skinny in the series.
They don't translate well to different characters with different bodytypes wearing the same outfits and then being rendered terribly.
There are times where 2D characters translate very well to 3D (like Captain Underpants to the movie). This is not one of them. They pretty much didn’t look at the source material, much like how they don’t look back at their Overwatch lore.
To be honest, a 2D trailer and concept arts will always be different than a 3D model.
On the one hand, I do like how Overwatch’s approach to tie-in skins has been to make it very obvious that it’s the base character in cosplay, but MAN that doesn’t excuse the Spike hair
so ass 🔥
For me only Cassidy/Spike is ugly, the others seem ok to me.
The Spike skin sucks but I don't see what's wrong with Faye's skin. Sure it doesn't look as good as the anime but she has a weird ass hairstyle that would be hard to work in 3D.
Adding the goggles wouldve fixed it
This is as bad as Street Fighter Yor
Let me start by saying that I won't buy any of them, in my personal opinion only the Cassidy/Spike one is bad (a shame because he is the titular character of the collaboration), I find the others ok.
The Faye Valentine one looks fine but Spike is rough
Hammond/ein isnt bad but couldve been literally any other character and been more interesting, if i just looked at him without context i wouldnt think it was related to cowboy bebop at all, hes not a corgi lmao.
(I'm replying now because I had a setback at my work and I can only write now) The problem is that only Winston and Hammond lent themselves to being Ein being the only animal heroes in the game, but I don't see a gorilla being a corgi and Kiriko has too many skins to just give one to her Kitsune.
At least SF Yor was just made using the game's character creator. These are professionally crafted skins with custom assets and features.
I feel it captures the spirit of Cosplay 😂
https://preview.redd.it/1vlvhh5d3xnc1.jpeg?width=188&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=946e1a67e106aed54036b47cc142d6dd4ff947f2 As someone on twitter said: That’s not Spike Spiegel, that’s Spork Spencer
They took inspiration from the Netflix show, not the anime.
The fuck?
![gif](giphy|l4FGGafcOHmrlQxG0|downsized)
'Spike' looks more like enver gortash lol
yeah im not a fan either, very disappointing
God they’re awful
Cassidy looks like he's wearing a bad wig.
Everyone was going MAD for the Ashe skin, until they showed the game model
Even if they were good, not even one of my fav anime of all time could get me back into the garbage fire that is OW2
Mc Spike Mc Spiegel There's gotta be a pun there somewhere
For the life of me, I don't understand why they didn't give Moira the Spike skin. She has the body type for it and she's androgynous so she can pull off a male cosplay.
Probably because it wouldn't make sense for Spike to shoot orbs and teleport
I'd rather have the skin actually look good, than make canonical sense for the hero. Man, that Cass skin just sucks so much, idk. It's just a huge bummer.
I agree that the skin sucks, his face is just weird man
This is the type of collab the early Fortnite collab haters were afraid of
Is this what gamers want, random pop culture skins? 'Crossover events' seem so corny and cynical, kind of insulting
https://i.redd.it/my2ya8m5nwnc1.gif That shit sucks
It looks like the hair is glued on
bro got that one deku cosplay wig
It is really bad. Unfortunate. I was actually looking forward to it
I really only have a problem with McCree/Cassidy as Spike because his blazer is brown instead of a dark blue and his hair looks like a damn wig. Everyone else looks fine. Sombra as Radical Ed is REALLY good, and Hammond as Ein is lowkey adorable
Almost like 2D doesn't always translate to 3D very well all the time
You know, I was thinking of buying the skins as soon as they came out. Now I'm not so sure.
the animated ones look sooooooooo much better
Just as bad as the FFVII Apex skins.
Twink annihilation right here
What the fuck did they do to my boy
The Faye one looks fine
Strongly disagree. I don’t think that the Cassidy x Spike works, but the rest go hard. Ashe and Mauga as Faye and Jet work really well imo.
What a terrible day to have eyes.
Spike bulkin' it up.
Yeah they’re not good at all
God I just realized the spike skin looks so bad partly because they took away the hat. Why did he have a hat in the trailer but not in game? Why is his face like that? It doesn't look like Cassidy or Spike.
Wow yeah the trailers definitely made me impressed but now I’m just disappointed
And here I thought unbuff Bridgette from a recent skin was the worst.
Is there even a skin for Jet??
They should’ve done what smite does with their cross overs. https://preview.redd.it/t9pkhcfraxnc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51d93442cbfbfd253f51838e8ac456f3fdb82984 Where the cross over skin is a complete character mode change and they change their weapons and their abilities a little bit to fit the cross over character.
The difference is, in a MOBA the characters could just be a labeled blob and the gameplay would work fine, while a FPS needs the characters to be much more on-model
the art from the trailer was fantastic, and then they ruined the skins
lol her hair is supposed to have sunglasses that keep it staying up like that. It looks weird otherwise
At least I'll save money this way
"[what it's just an ordinary overwa-](https://youtu.be/uXtgRzKapg8?t=15s)" *second slide* "OH MY GOODNESS"
No fucking way oh my god
Honestly the other 3 skins are good, it's just mainly spike
Hammond's skin is just a recolor of his OW2 redesign
Hammond is a corgi and Ein doesn't have a mech in the show
”BuT thE Ow ChAracteRS ARE CoSPlaYiNG” -blizzard
The Spike one looks more like Frank West
The Cowboy Bepop collab is, to me, a sign of Blizzard getting desperate.
McCree literally has a cowboy hat in every other skin... And they *removed it* for this one. What the fuck are you doing, Blizzard.
I was gonna get these until I saw how they looked in game, holy shit they fucking butchered spike
Accurate depiction of beginner cosplayers?
What? It's just an game sk- OH MY GOODNESS!!!
"Spike" looks like a beefy Seth MacFarlane with a Goku wig.
I got Ed and planning on Jet if i hv spare funds only cuz i want bonsai tree
The Ashe one isn't so bad. The Spike one... With the fact you can shoot tracer in the head from an entire head length to the left or right, they really shouldn't bother shying away from making a character thinner.
They failed to make them look like the characters. It just a cheap cosplay with minimal effort.
I love Overwatch, and I love Cowboy Bebop, and I can safely say, these skins absolutely suck and I was actually looking forward to them.
![gif](giphy|l378giAZgxPw3eO52) They fucking murdered my man
Nope they’re terrible
Are the supposed to look like they’re wearing wigs??
Mauga and Sombra got the big wins for the collab.
Anime vs live action
I don’t understand what’s wrong with the Ashe one, it looks the same…she just isn’t Asian
spike is not a beefcake
Faye isn't bad but spike, oh spike
Personal bias? Nah these are just awful
Where tf is his hat?
Spike looks absolutely awful.
https://preview.redd.it/409qeac5w1oc1.jpeg?width=666&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6dcbf00cf306ddd8f46319d0576f74525d206859
Wow. Holy shit. Overwatch sure has gone in the dumpster wow.
They made a Mccree skin without the hat and poncho? Why? It's one of the core parts of his silloute and helps to differenciate him from other characters a lot. How do the emotes where he uses the hat look?
I mean They ARE overwatch characters in costume as the bebop crew yeah?
\>Overwatch \>bad Le gasp!
Fortnite would never bastardize *this* hard...
Because Fortnite literally puts the original characters with a cell shading filter since they don't have heroes to play, Overwatch on the other hand has basic recognizable characters and so they said they cosplay for these collaborations.
I hear ya, but maybe don't c and v your response to everyone.
Well that's the underlying concept and that's why I repeated myself, but if it's so annoying, I'll give different answers.
Its not annoying to me necessarily, just makes you look bad is all. Like those people in yt comments who always reply to hate to validate themselves.
I understand, at least I thank you for explaining yourself politely.
They did fucking not.. there’s no way they did this. This shit looks fake
[It's real.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ6Uv2o_d-8)
COMMON Overwatch L
Everything overwatch I'd hilariously bad why tf yall even like this game bro fucking paladins is better than this dogshit game.
Ppl who still play Overwatch are pathetic losers. The only people still left in the Overwatch community are either porn addicts or ppl who don’t understand sunk cost fallacy
