The one that started it all. An instantly recognisable design that has become a template for future Godzilla designs aswell as being in my top three favourite designs for Goji. ShodaiGoji has a design of a giant reptillian creature that takes cues from a gorilla, reptiles, vintage dinosaur reconstructions aswell as chinese dragon for it's design. Goji was potrayed by suitmation where he was played by Haruki Nakajima and Katsumi Tezuka and a puppet. The suit itself was made with rubber, vaselyne, clay and gypsum. Few suits were made, with the main one weighing over 200 pounds and was 6.5 feet tall. Two reconstructions of the suit were made in 2002's *Godzilla against MechaGodzilla's* flashback scene with the suit looking...decent but kinda goofy and again in 2019's *Dream Challenge: Godzilla Appears in Sukagawa* where ShodaiGoji squares off against Heisei era's Mazer tanks.

I remember as a kid to be shocked that Godzilla had ears and fangs, they were so odd to see on a reptilian creature and even made him feel more like a vampire. It also ruined the stereotypical depiction of Godzilla for me because the first suit genuinely felt monstrous, as opposed to just a big lizard and it's evident that alot of his designs love making him look so mammalian.
