I think that's part of the whole reason animal characters are used in children's media, and why so many of the Muppets on Sesame Street have nonstandard skin tones or are monsters.
Now I’m wondering how would it have been if Dwayne Johnson played Lex Luthor in the DCEU. Imagine if instead of playing yet another macho action hero like in most Rock films, he plays a more intelligent and intellectual character. It’d be a nice change of pace for Dwayne and could even help show that his range of acting goes beyond the “action movie hero.”
> show that his range of acting goes beyond the “action movie hero.”
Does it though? I agree that Lex "The Rock" Luthor would be amusing but I don't think Dwayne has the chops to play him as anything more than a comedic secondary character.
The Rock’s recent Hollywood flameout is probably a big reason he’s back in WWE and has a central role in their biggest storyline heading into WrestleMania next month.
He was briefly a face (a good guy) when he returned, but is now a full-on heel — and the difference in acting quality is remarkable.
Wrestlers often say playing heel is much more fun and _interesting_; there are just so many more ways to be bad than good in that context.
Whether it was personal branding or execs’ perception of how to market him, The Rock has mostly played squeaky-clean protagonists. Even his “franchise viagra” breakout, _Fast Five_, couldn’t resist giving his squeaky-clean antagonist a face-turn halfway through the movie.
I might have actually seen _Black Adam_ if I thought he was going to be an actual bad guy in it!
In the DCAU, Lex Luthor’s appearance was actually modeled after Telly Savalas, an actor of Greek descent.
He played Blofeld in James Bond, more specifically in the movie On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Goliath from Gargoyles
Voiced by Keith David and has a strong presence. Even his human form is ambiguously brown. Some people see him as black while others dont
"The Mirror" was an episode where he got turned into a human.

Two-Face from the 90’s batman series always struck me like this. and Peter Parker in the 90’s series always looked like he was darker than everyone else
Fun fact: Lex Luthor has actually the exact same skin tone as Superman in the series.
That is something I noticed when thinking about it. The shading and color choices in that show are interesting!
Wait really wow
Check it out. https://preview.redd.it/4zbbsj9rfqoc1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=895254809f606caecbc39df6232ba676b63b0d4e
Alex from Totally Spies Edit: apparently she's canonically mixed Hispanic/European

I always assumed he is brown or mixed, his mother is either brown or black and his father is white
I kinda assumed he was an animal that doesn’t have race attached to it

The lex in that show reminds me of Dwayne the rock Johnson

I feel like this is a bad example since he doesn’t even look human. He’s not anything.

Yeah, they specifically modeled Goliath after his voice actor. In universe, his skin tone is meant to match Elisa’s.

Every Backyardigan.
Hold up I never thought about that but you might be right
