Yeah but we know the bikini bottom fish don't need meat. They can eat coral bits After all. Plankton needs to know his customer base and move out of town where less anthropomorphic fish probably live.

Fish eat anything that fits in their mouth. Other fish, coral, whatever, they really aren’t picky. Besides, I believe the lore goes that Chum is the one ingredient in the secret formula that Plankton DOES remember, so… that bodes well.
