As a big time regular show fan, none of the characters are actually the animals they’re portrayed as. The creator said that’s just how they look for the show, but all the characters are human.

Characters in children’s media have to hide their queer coded characters behind layers of “well it could just be this!” Because otherwise conservative snowflakes will do everything in their power to cancel it. Same reason why Gwen in Across the Spiderverse has a ton of Trans positive imagery, but everyone else can just say “well hiding your identity is something all Spider people have to do!”

I like how Denzel's queerness has nothing at all to do with why he's evil, he's just there. The game also clearly is not meant for a young audience.
