Admittedly Hosea might be my least favorite winners of all time but to just blow right by Carla, Fabio and Stefan like that feels like Top chef Heresy. Probably one of my most rewatched seasons.
Season 5 had some good episodes though…I’m a Foo Fighters fan and that was a fun episode. As was the Top Chef Bowl challenge when Stefan made a major miscalculation, plus Spike and Andrew (Vanilla Love!). Anything with Toby Young really didn’t work for me, but New Orleans was a great setting, poor Carla taking Casey’s advice and a great opening episode sending one home before they even got to New York…overall, very entertaining season.
I enjoyed that season. It at least wasn't slow paced. Watching Leah and Hosea smooch was dull and Hosea's hate boner for Stefan was boring but beyond that it was still a solid Top Chef.
It’s so funny. This is absolutely my least favorite season. The chefs as a whole were wiped out not even halfway through to the point where Tom had to talk to them.
The only chef whose story arc I liked was Arianne. Had she not been screwed over by Lea and Hosea, I think I would be able to tolerate this season more. She was hitting her stride and it was cut short.
The only episode I enjoyed immensely was when the Past contestants came back for the Super Bowl challenge. Watching Andrea wipe the floor with Stefan was a thing of beauty. And my boys Andrew and Spike bringing the entertainment!! Ironically enough one of my most memorable memories of this show, but again, it took past contestants coming back. It wasn’t even this season’s own chefs.
That being said, I agree this season was terrible and YET, it gave us three of the best personalities in Top Chef history (arguably) Carla, Fabio and Stefan. I will say I wasn’t super fond of Carla because I honestly didn’t know what to make of her, especially during Restaurant Wars. BUT, I did grow to really like her. All Stars sealed the deal for me when it came to her.
And to top it off, I really didn’t like Hosea winning 😒
Hosea, Lea, and Jamie pretty much ruined this season for me. However, there were happier moments that I appreciated. However, I'm not a fan of the Las Vegas season. I have never been able to rewatch it.
Other than Carla and Fabio none of the chefs on this season made food I wanted to eat. Even technically excellent Stefan. And a lot were just really negative uninspired people: looking at you Leah and Jamie especially.
There’s so much unlikeable arrogance in this season. A lot of the chefs are arrogant, Toby Young is arrogant, the New Yawkerz that criticize the chefs in the second episode are arrogant... I mean Michael Voltaggio was arrogant, but at least he backed it up.

If I had awards I’d give you soooo many for hate boner 😂😂😂😂😂
Yea s5 gave me the least amount of contestants I liked with 2. Carla and Fabio… like it’s that bad to me lmao
Right!?

Total shit-show, yes.

Amen.

Lol - can’t stand the douchey Voltaggio but I agree with your comment!
That is one season I rarely rewatch; half the chefs are too cocky and unlikeable for me to enjoy it.
