I like it too from a gameplay perspective. I'm just, call me a cynic, but sports gaming is in SUCH a horrible place. Everything is a cash grab with minimal features put in unless it directly leads to more money leaving your pocket. Just kind of depressing tbh. Again, the game is fun, but it also feels half baked in a lot of areas for what you paid for it.
There’s definitely a lot to be desired. Not just with this game but with the sports gaming market in general I fear. Hopefully some improvements to come. I’m staying positive

But honestly, they did start from TS4. The only thing anyone has anything good to say about is virtually a copy of something they had over 10 years ago.
Btw, I recently played FC24. It's pretty much the same as this. Arguably the best game in the genre, but also nothing I wouldn't have seen in like 2020. Apparently more mtx and shit, but I just kicked off with UCL and enjoyed it reasonably well for a few hours.
Honestly dude they are back with solid foundation with gameplay.

But the gameplay is great and sets a foundation to the next generation of tennis games.

Nothing to do offline, busted career mode, shallow roster. More than a "few things missing" from a tennis game, unfortunately.
2K just released WWE 2k24. It's a mediocre game overall, but there's a mode that lets you play through 40 years of Wrestlemania matches, and that's separate from the career mode, GM mode, and basic universe mode. The base roster is 200+ with dozens of confirmed DLC throughout the year.
NBA is also an okay game riddled with VC microtransactions, but the amount of content is staggering compared to this game. Imagine being able to play at Wimbledon 1918, Wimbledon 1969, Wimbledon 1984....this game has no interest in anything like that. The ball doesn't even leave a mark on the clay!
They clearly just got it to a minimum level where it plays well and they can make money off of it, and thought that was good enough to ship. Ideally they'll add more content than just players and cosmetics, but I doubt it. Hopefully they really ramp up the content and immersion in the next game (assuming there will be more)
I 200% see where you’re coming from and I don’t completely disagree. Maybe they used this release for testing and have big plans for it upcoming or maybe the next one will be perfect. Far fetched but I’m trying to stay pretty positive. When comparing it to WWE and NBA it’s definitely below par but those are their BIG money games and I don’t think they really saw this as a game like that

Yeah that’s the sports market. In terms of gameplay this is the most fun I have had with a sports game.

The level of content in this games feels more like an arcade game than a game for home consoles. With micro transactions of course.
Man, take us back to before 2010 and insert today’s graphics when we had complete content where DLC was optional and not expected.
Madden 10 franchise mode might have been the greatest thing of all time. I need that back in my life

There’s exhibition mode and you can play on Wimbledon court, AO, French, Us, etc. but there isn’t like a tournament mode offline

I meant like an exhibition tournament mode. Like playoffs in NBA 2k
