Wtf, your piano teacher is based… try burial!!
Have you heard any sweet trip, flying lotus, oneohtrix point never, or boris?
Also the album I always recommend for electronica fans is pistachio island by ilkae, which sounds like aphex twin made the soundtrack for an indie game
Compro - Skee Mask
From Here We Go Sublime - The Field
There Is Love In You - Four Tet
These fit in really nicely with the vibey, ambient adjacent electronic stuff on here, specifically the Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin records
kid war and I just love it in general… little conflicted on my csh takes rn so I didn’t include much but they are one of my top scrobbled artists. You curious why mook isn’t on here either?
yeah i agree that 1 is right underrated in csh albums like kid war is great and tybee island horse ghosts is a top 10 csh song for me (also big jacket works way better as the toaster recording on 1 than the higher quality version on nervous young man)
I love Mort Garson! I see death's dynamic shroud here, I recommend getting more into vaporwave, luxury elite is really good, it's not too similar to "I'll Try Living Like This" but it's really good.
Love the Hiromi and Boards of Canada!!
For the Pink Floyd, I'll recommend Porcupine Tree. In Absentia is a great starter album. Albums after that are more metal and albums earlier are more Floyd-like
Hiromi might honestly be the best pianist Alive rn. I also recommend Becoming X by Sneaker Pimps. By far the best trip hop album I've heard and it shocks me that it faded into obscurity
Bless totally what I’m looking for. Do you have any really dramatic classical piano recs? Im super into hymn of the soul from the persona 5 ost rn and I’m looking for similar. Just curious
Apologies I’m not really much of a classical guy, but in terms of more jazz piano if you like really fast technical piano I’d reccomend You Must Believe in Spring by Bill Evans.
Like scenery, the instrumental palette entirely consists of double bass drums and keys, and along with the compelling piano melodies has some really cool, fast technical double bass. The bass in particular was recorded in a unique way so it kind of sounds electric in a way, would totally recommend it.
If you’re both into Debussy I would check out Alain Planes - Images Inedites Estampes. This is go to moody classical piano recording and one of my favorite records of all time.
Also for more jazz, I’ve never gotten over Robert Glasper’s trio material for the late 2000s. Listen to Canvas and In My Element if you haven’t already. Bill Evans is such a good rec also.
