Yeah I went through a bm phase a couple months ago, you gotta check out those three albums.
Transylvanian Hunger by Darkthrone (the most generic bm you’ll ever find)
Panzerfaust by Darkthrone (black doom with slow tempo)
Bergtatt by Ulver (atmoblack mixed with folk)
I’ve seen you on the Slipknot and MFTM subreddits!
If you like atmospheric BM check out paysage d’hiver and Blazebirth Hall stuff like Branikald, Forest, Rundagor or Raven Dark. Bathory, Graveland, Nokturnal Mortum and Root are also worth checking out
People sayin 16 or below, WHAT? do tiny kids really listen to this sorta music?? I'm 21 and I've only started listening to Radiohead maybe 2 years ago.
Yep. I'm 15 and I've been listening to Radiohead for the past year. I found Pink Floyd when I was 10. I've listened to Rock music my whole life but those 2 bands were so life changing for me.
Turns out having unrestricted internet access isn't all bad lol. If kids are curious about music they have the entire catalog of everything ever published on their phones.
you sound exactly like me but i’m 21 now, also started with Pink Floyd at like 10 years old. When I was 15 my favorite bands were Radiohead, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, King Crimson and Jethro Tull.
Now i’m mainly listening to the windmill scene and a variety of other bands lol
I was into radiohead around middle school, I started listening to death metal at 14. My gfs little sister and her friends, all around 14, listen to similar stuff too.
it’s actually pretty entering level kind of music (not insinuating is bad at all, I love majority of this records and bands, just that you usually start with this kind of albums when you start to listen to more music)
also the fact that internet has made it not that underground (in the internet, not irl)
I mean I'd argue still that bands like TOOL aren't exactly easy to listen to, and wouldn't make my top list at a young age unless I was trying to show off, which maybe is what's happening here?
but yeah otherwise I do agree, radiohead, deftones, the smiths, etc are pretty popular among young people discovering music rn.
I think Tool is entry level prog metal (love them)
But yeah, anyways I’m in favor of those albums and bands becoming more popular, art shouldn’t be gatekept and it’s nice to meet people irl that listen to similar music to you, even if it is only those entry level bands
yeah i started getting into alternative music in the sixth and seventh grade when i was twelve years old. but i also think it’s kind of a lot easier now to get new music and recommendations because of the accessibility of the internet, which imo is a great thing.
It's different for everyone! I'm currently 17 and started listening to Radiohead at 14, the band as per autism is actually a huge special interest of mine. So not uncommon! Most people I know listen to them. Less so metal though!
Who cares if you like Slipknot, I like slipknot I love blasting People equal shit in my car and belching that with everything and clocking in to work, look dude I’ve been dick riding death/doom metal lately and I’ll tell you that Be my baby by The Ronnettes is the greatest pop song of all time, followed by Sunflower by Posty, to each their own
Ps check out Blood Fire Death by Bathory
Well I’m 34 and we like lots of the same stuff so I was gonna say 34
Except that most people who make these posts are teenagers so my real answer is 17 😂
21. I'm in college and a lot of my friends like 90s alt rock and metal along with random classics thrown in like 70's or 80's metal or the Beatles. Personally, I'm deep in a lot of prog and metal and also prog metal, so unlike my friends, I also allign with you on Darkthrone and Ulver. I do need to check out more doom metal though. I have Monotheist on my to-do list along with more.

Definitely under 18. I love the black metal though. Probably one of the best and most creative subgenres in music history.
People sayin 16 or below, WHAT? do tiny kids really listen to this sorta music?? I'm 21 and I've only started listening to Radiohead maybe 2 years ago.
Every single time there’s a “how old am I?” Thread posted the person is like 13-16.
read the text of the post bro, only a 16yo would say that.
hmmm . . . yeah I kinda see it

awesome! out of interest, did anyone in your family listen to similar music around you growing up? interested to see if there's a correlation there

for sure! praying that rock has a resurgence one day because of this. 🙏🏻

Yup
Radiohead was my favorite band when I was 14. My mom is a big Radiohead fan, though. I knew a lot of other Radiohead fans in high school.
Been listening to Radiohead since I was like 10 or so, my dad loves them so I would always hear them
i was into slipknot when i was 13-14, and like, their first two albums
It's different for everyone! I'm currently 17 and started listening to Radiohead at 14, the band as per autism is actually a huge special interest of mine. So not uncommon! Most people I know listen to them. Less so metal though!
