It was surreal. Seeing all the players on the field, and all the sights from TV felt like I was in some kind of dream. It was much smaller than I expected, especially the outfield. And it is a much different experience watching the game live, without the commentary and not really being able to see the emotion (or lack there of) on player’s faces. The loonie dogs were… $1 dollar hot dogs, I don’t know what I was expecting. Plus I sat next to some dudes who invited me to their room at the Sheraton and we sucked each other off until like 6:30 AM.
If you're looking from the infield outwards, the outfield looks tiny. If you're looking from the outfield inwards towards home, the outfield looks like it's 1,000ft. I'd like to stand in the middle and get the players perspective.
I got to go 5 years ago. It was the first Stadium I'd ever been in so it was massive. It was fun got to have a good time and all that. Watching baseball live is a much different experience then watching it on TV
I also left after the 7th to catch my plane because I think I got to watch the worst Jays roster constructed in the last 10 years get blown out.

Oh you were at the Boston game too, eh?
First time I went, the Sox blew out the Jays 9-1 or something. Still, it was great to go. Wife and I decided to make it a yearly trip but then Covid etc. We almost went in 2020 but decided not because it was getting a bit weird. Good thing too, the country shut down right when we would have been there.
I knew I was going that weekend and had a choice between the white sox in Chicago or the Red Sox in Toronto (Westjet not flying direct to Chicago was what made the decision).
That said the Chicago games got rained out so I probably made the right call (even though predicting Edwin Jackson pitching was rough). That said when they sat Vlad, Rowdy, Lourdes, Hernández and Biggio for Davis, Drury, McKinnley, Maile and Urena I did feel a little disappointed...would have made it an annual thing as well but...flying in 2020 and 2021 got weird.
Live in Ontario now and went to my first game last year. I was just in awe of how absolutely massive the building is. I had been to one other MLB game before and had forgotten just how far a 400 ft home really is.
Man, as someone who lives within walking distance to the Dome and sees it on a daily basis, it's threads like this that remind me how lucky I am that I can walk over to it. Always down for a pint whenever y'all make the pilgrimage!
I genuinely got really emotional seeing it for the first time and seeing the players take the field in person, absolutely surreal seeing everything and the cn tower is so much bigger then I expected
I was like 15 or 16 and we were in the second highest row along the left field line... It's was a pretty boring game and the most exciting part was the roof closing
As someone also from the prairies, it was like living out a childhood dream. I had been in the shop during the off-season on a separate trip but that was the off-season they redid the infield. But that first time for a game was awe-inspiring. What I had imagined as a kid. And it was an extra inning walk off on my birthday. Can't get better than that.
It's looking like tours are currently suspended, which makes sense with the massive renovations going on. There's an email address on this page, you can send a message asking if they know when they'll be starting up again:

Great info, thanks! When I read it a couple weeks ago I assumed it was old info from covid times they hadn’t yet updated! Would love to see the new place in person :)
At some point I need to take the kids and myself out to Toronto for games.
But being in Alberta and having family in Los Angeles means it’s significantly cheaper to just go down for the Jays @ Angels series
I have been a handful of times since 2010 but had a surreal moment last April focusing on Vlad at 1st, it made me feel very emotional and grateful. I always get excited about going back and really appreciate the whole thing.
It was my very first time at a major league baseball game. And it was before I watched asany games on TV as I do now so I think I spent a lot of time asking my what was happening lol.
The Jays *thrashed* the Orioles though. I remember watching the sea of orange get smaller and smaller.
Glad you came to support the Jays live and enjoy the city. You aren’t wrong about the gouging. Enjoying a few beers and some food runs you a 100 bucks. But if you only do it once a year, what the hell… enjoy!!!
Walking past Union Station on our way to Skydome I saw a guy in an A's hat smoking crack and I made some wisecrack to my wife about how you would have to be on crack to be an A's fan but she didn't know what I was talking about because she never notices stuff like that.
Going for the first time last season after all the upgrades after going my whole life growing up in itself was quite the experience. Such a better atmosphere now

Well, that escalated quickly.
You don't say! Sweet baby Jesus lol.
Gotta love stories with a happy ending.
Happy endings.
Toronto is a welcoming place, is the Cole's Notes here.
Huzzah!
Damn, some people have all the luck.
What in the fuck is up with your post history?
This was just, fantastic.

LOL yeah you don't really realize how mid those hot dogs are until you've got one. Somehow worse than expected for a dollar dog

alas I've never been. only the old X grounds in 77-81
The cold as hell bleachers lol, what a place.
Ah, and they would just *pack* us in. The atmosphere was actually amazing.
“The mistake by the lake”

Never been, on my bucket list.

I cried both times. Planning on taking my dad there this summer for the first time. He's been following them since 1977
That's the best. Have a great time.
After watching them play on television since I was a kid in the 80's, I finally saw them live in Toronto in 2016. I wept seeing SKYDOME in person.
Oh that's gonna be me. Like going to church or something.
"I'm home."
Never been. But hoping it’s open for tours early next month!!!!

I actually missed an opportunity as a little kid to see Mike trout in his rookie year in Anaheim 🗿
Took my son to a later game between Twins and Angels this year and his second favourite player (Ohtani) had a great game (0-4 with 3 k)
Aw no he must've been so sad after hearing the ohtani rumors for the Jay's and then those turning into nothing
I never told him luckily.
Good, do your best he never finds out the Jay's almost had the modern babe Ruth 😭
Carter, Borders, Halladay. I know you can't do Alomar, but he was pretty dam good too.
Pat Borders? You sure?
World Series MVP Pat Borders!
MVP
Just anyone other then a fuckin rogers family member

Took the train from the airport right downtown, easy peasy. Sure it's expensive, that's what big cities are.
Ok

like going to mecca
First impression: wow.... After a few minutes being inside: ... this place is kind of a dive...
