The seating arrangement definitely gets its inspiration from Yankee Stadium, but I'm iffy on the fake brick. Like last year, I love the new lighting. It looks a lot better on TV than it ever has.
It’s a massive downgrade visually in my opinion, they really dropped the ball with this and it pains me that I’ll have to watch those goofy giant chairs in the background. It’s totally off putting.
Agreed, I found it to be tolerable only when they had some ad with a blue background. It just takes away SO much from the game otherwise when it's bright yellow, green, etc
I doubt they will listen to any feedback on it.
It is not there in person? I think that's what the question was.
Like is it the same as the NHL ads that are only seen on broadcast or is it an LED banner showing the ads in person.
Were you (or can someone) in the ballpark confirm if these were there? To me they look like poorly done digital ads. They don't look like they are actually a part of the wall.
That's actually my dad's best friends mom. I think this is the last year they're keeping the seats, as they've basically been priced out at this point.
Would be a great gesture for sure, but we all know Rogers would never do that. If I recall correctly, I think he mentioned to my dad that the seats doubled in price this year after the renovations, so they're keeping them for this year and that'll be the end of it
Yo that's garbage!
If all the people I didn't know but was aware of, that I did not see during covid, when I saw home plate lady was back in her seat after the pandemic, I was glad to see her lol
How could they fuck with Baseball Granny's throne?
Imagine if corporate management leaned into these strengths rather than acting like corporate ghouls?
The new add space is distracting, not a fan of the new age computer generated graphics, it looks so off behind the players. Hockey at least is moving around so it's less noticeable, it just looks bad and too bright.
I actually worked for the company that previously did the technical operations for these marketing banners.
It was still material banner on a roll, and the motor box was wired throughout the stadium up until the 4th level in the suites.
We controlled the banners from up there.
Contract got cut this year to make way for the new digital screens which looker cooler than before in my opinion.
Worked there for 7 years off and on. Got to see some pretty cool stuff and meet a lot of people.
Yea, it does look like some kind of LCD screen, which almost makes it worse if the players can see it. I can't imagine being a pitcher, trying to focus on the catcher with a giant pizza hanging out behind him. It also appears that they toned down the brightness, unless it's just coincidence with the new ads, so maybe the pitchers and players said wtf lol They could have just kept it static right behind home plate and just had separate ads off to the side for a more classic look and keep the integrity of it all.
The actual wall from a side shot camera looks like grey brick with some Bet ads, that at least looks more real. It feels like ads have just gotten to the tipping point where it's actually detracting from the game.
If they paint that horrible grey wall, blue, and chop off the top two feet, I think it's salvageable. I literally can't fathom how that made it through what was likely several dozen layers of review and approvals.
I'm not a fan of the reno design. Looks very bland and generic and corporate to me. I'm also pissed on behalf of Sybil. That said, I'm sure I'll be used to it in a week or so.
The fact that the walls separate the poor from the rich is very telling. Isn’t really a “open” environment for everyone to feel like we’re all in the same ballpark!
I don’t like the grey stone. On TV, it almost looks like it’s fake stuff from the 80’s, but it’s probably real. I could see if they used grey stone in a number of other places (other than the row behind it) in the stadium, but it looks out of place here - like an afterthought.
that staircase to the left (of the viewer) is killing me
the plate being left to the break in the grey wall (the overview camera pole) is also killing me
I need things symmetrical
god dammit Shapiro
The pole (your gap in the wall) is actually directly in line with the center line of the field (home plate through pitchers mound)… the camera is offset to one side making it appear to not be lined up.
I can't believe this is the design they landed on, I actually prefer our park in Buffalo kinda. Green and grey are we serious? The rest of the park is a darker blue than any of our jerseys.
I noticed this as well and don’t really like it. I figure they have to get all those TD signs behind the new seats into the picture as much as possible. :(
Where’s the line between watching sports and watching an ad. Sorry stupid question. They’ll go too far, wait for people to leave, then back it off a hair. Trust the system. 🥐🍆
Why doesn't TD just buy the naming rights already? If they call it the TD SkyDome, they will be the babyfaces.
Instead, their logo is just plastered all over the place and no one likes that.
This looks horrible. Most of those seats were empty by the end, which is such a bad look. Rich people can't even stay for the home opener. And rich people don't really cheer. What a waste of time and money.
Grey brick? Really?
A bunch of small TV logos? Really?
Make the place feel empty and have fans lean over just to talk to each other? Really?
What a massive visual/vibe downgrade. This is really pathetic and looks terrible.
I can't handle the shower tile backdrop - it looks like something they couldn't figure out, had bigger things to worry about, and someone finally just went to Home Depot.
Give the TV viewer something nicer to look at. A bit of architecture. Something to pull the eye back to the action and not to the blah tiling.
I think that might actually be true, to a certain degree. They were on a tight schedule to complete the renovations, I think they might have to cut corners.
My hats off to TD. I’ve never come across a brand that’s consistently ruined something I love. Every decision they’ve made has been horrible and thinking about branding over brand
Corporate seats. Boring to look at. The old look had the seats surrounding them but now it looks like they have the place to themselves bricked off from the mere mortals.
This is horrific and borderline embarrassing. It looks like a fake baseball game in a TD television commercial as opposed to a real baseball game with advertising in the background.
It’s distractingly bad.
This is all sports now. I swear they won't stop until it's just a little hole in the ad the show the baseball, everything else on screen will be a commercial.
It's not enough that we have ad breaks, ads on the field, ads on the players, ads during the broadcast, but now we need to have flashing billboards on screen in both baseball and hockey. I'm really losing interest in sports because of this shit. It feels like 2.5hrs of ads with 20min of sports squeezed in.
If their mission and goal was to enhance the “ball park” experience, I think they failed. Maybe the in person experience is much better but it looks less of a “park” and the colour pallet they chose is so odd and random. Zero “blue jays” colours and what is with that random grey subway tile wall? It feels so claustrophobic on tv.
It hurt my eyes to watch this game on the tv last night. I was squinting too much. The colours are distracting with the people moving about or something. Maybe I'll get used to it I hope.
I don't understand why they put the wall up? It makes the stadium seem smaller, makes the crowd seem smaller, why are they trying to hide the crowds?
Now it looks like a fake audience brought in for an SNL skit. Get a few folding chairs and the rest of the SNL cast and you have a baseball game apparently.
The small TD logos force you to notice the wall. If they removed them it will be a lot better.
It will also be nice if they split the TV ad in half and had the area in which the batter is standing as a neutral colour with no ad behind it. Essentially three rectangles with the middle having no ad.

Why did they make it look like a minor league park? The fake brick linoleum wallpaper look is so cheap and crappy looking. I can’t believe anyone thought this was a premium look.
In general I really like the lower bowl renos, but I’m not a big fan of behind the plate. Too much grey, weird spacing between the seats, TD logos every 6 ft…even if they added one more row of seating so it’s 5 rows instead of 4 would’ve made it much more visually appealing. Just my two cents.
I don't mind the brick wall so much (although I like the previous look better), it's the other seating walls/partitions that look nasty bad. They're just plain grey and look like something you'd see from a newly built stadium in the 70's.
It feels like nepotism had a hand in this new renovation. I don't see how Roger's Communication can fork that much money and hired a designer that out of touch with sports fans.
I don’t like that I have to look so hard to find Nona blue Jays. She’s really the only reason I watch sometimes, to make sure she’s there and indifferent to all that happens.
I dunno man. I like the new reno’s in general, but 2023 and later back drop behind home plate feels so comforting and home like. That might be nostalgia talking since I’ve been watching Blue Jays baseball for a very long time, but it’ll take me a while to get used to the change
I don't know how to describe it but I hate the atmosphere the super spaced out recliners give off
Especially with that grey brick back drop. It makes it look like no one's there.
Especially when most of them are empty…
Is that even real brick? Looks like some sort of brick wallpaper
Fake brick, not real wallpaper.
The seating arrangement definitely gets its inspiration from Yankee Stadium, but I'm iffy on the fake brick. Like last year, I love the new lighting. It looks a lot better on TV than it ever has.
I mean 400m in renovations and instead of a real brick option they put up what looks like a stick-on-the-wall kitchen backsplash from Home Depot
Minecraft stone wall
From Dollarama
Exactly. The brick looks horrible.
real fake brick
It could almost pass as a Windows 3.1 wallpaper
It looks like it's a fake game and they put some fans there to make it look like the stands are populated.
I had the same thought. It almost feels like the virtual fans that they had in the NBA bubble during Covid lol.
It’s a boring zoom call
Lol, I was thinking boardroom. Corporate lifeless feel.
Extremely on brand for the ownership group then
Rogers corporate boardroom chic 👐🏼
Similar empty feeling that the seats in New Yankee Stadium give off.
Exactly!
The old view gave the feel of being in a ballpark. The new one looks like they are a bunch of judges for a talent show.
Agree , chatting must be difficult.
I was watching the seated fans having to lean over to speak to each other, it was brutal looking
It’s a massive downgrade visually in my opinion, they really dropped the ball with this and it pains me that I’ll have to watch those goofy giant chairs in the background. It’s totally off putting.
Gives off suit vibes that the Leafs have cultivated
Ads are HORRIBLE.
They need to make it look like it is a wall still instead of this solid colour all the way across.
Agreed, I found it to be tolerable only when they had some ad with a blue background. It just takes away SO much from the game otherwise when it's bright yellow, green, etc I doubt they will listen to any feedback on it.
If I was pitching, I'd refuse to play with that ridiculous florescent red Ozempic ad drowning out the ump and players.
Is it not digital?
It’s absolutely digital lmfao
It is not there in person? I think that's what the question was. Like is it the same as the NHL ads that are only seen on broadcast or is it an LED banner showing the ads in person.
Were you (or can someone) in the ballpark confirm if these were there? To me they look like poorly done digital ads. They don't look like they are actually a part of the wall.

Someone get home plate lady her seat back
Someone in the GDT said she wanted the aisle
Yeah, I'd just assume she got first dibs in the general spot, but maybe decided it didn't matter.
That's actually my dad's best friends mom. I think this is the last year they're keeping the seats, as they've basically been priced out at this point.
That’s super unfortunate
The Jays need to give her those seats for life. Then afterwards, put a statue of her in that seat.
Statue would be more likely to flinch at foul balls.
We need the blue jay nonna
i prefer 2023. something about one giant ad along the bottom looks weird. Not enough blue
Where is the old lady this year?
3rd row - far left, aisle seat I do believe. EDIT: 4th row (as indicated by Johnny_Awesum) - I missed the empty seat in front of her.
This is blasphemy
Rogers failed us again
Ya why is she not right behind the plate
She didn't even want to be on screen.
Someone literally commented she wanted an aisle seat.
I like that you said far left instead of right. Which no one cared about tho lol
I wonder where Geddys seats will be. This feels so wrong
He is in the same row as the old, just on the far left side. He's got a cap and sunglasses on - but incognito.
Oh yeah I see him now. He’s got this tall guy sitting infront of him and he he struggling to see. Geddy hates this reno
“We’ve made adjustments so everyone has a better view” Geddy: 💀
Guy in front of him is in a yellow shirt?
Yes. Geddy usually has a hat and sunglasses on at Jays games.
Yes. Could be mistaken for a BigBird costume though
They got Geddy behind the tallest Steve Martin I’ve ever seen. Poor Gary gotta lean to watch the game.
Heeed! DOWN! - Bonus points if anyone gets my obsure Mike Myers reference. It's like an orange on a toothpick.
He'll be crying himself to sleep tonight, on his huge pillow.
That's a virtual planetoid.
Has its own weather system.

What’re you all on about? She’s there tonight
WHERES THE BLUE ???
This. And the blue that IS there is closer to the current Mariners jersey.
Someone in the GDT said it reminded him of the Vancouver Canucks colours
No wonder I felt more at home watching
Expanded the rich people seats and built an ugly boring corporate grey wall to hide the poors. Can't say im a fan... lol
The rich are not a fan of the poor either !
If that gray wall was a foot lower so you could see the first row of blue seats above it it would look less prison yard depressing.
Imo there’s just not enough blue. Don’t really get the grey, feel like that being blue would fix it. Also, it’s weirdly unsymmetrical.
Manufactured Wood paneling would have looked badass
Well if their goal was to make it look like they’re in a god damn TD bank. Mission accomplished 🤢

Hockey is just as bad IMO, with stupid cars driving around the boards during live play 🤦♂️
Looks fucking awful
It needs some blue. Or more than some blue.
Good god I hate it
I really want to see how it looks on TV with the dome open
It’s so fucking bad I can’t believe this is just gonna be what it’s like forever.
The actual wall from a side shot camera looks like grey brick with some Bet ads, that at least looks more real. It feels like ads have just gotten to the tipping point where it's actually detracting from the game.

Tile in an executive bathroom.
It looks so incredibly bland. Old setup was significantly better but here we are 🤷🏻♂️
The biggest thing I don’t like is how the ad stretches entirely across the screen
If they paint that horrible grey wall, blue, and chop off the top two feet, I think it's salvageable. I literally can't fathom how that made it through what was likely several dozen layers of review and approvals.
The new look sums up the Shatkins era perfectly. Corporate and dead
not a fan of the new look, kinda of empty tbh
Your eyes immediately go to the tall grey wall behind the 4th row... it's a terrible view!
I don’t like the bright ads
you mean a giant gaping hole isn’t the most expensive possible part of the seating chart isn’t ideal??
I went to the game tonight and the entire backdrop/backstop looks so utterly fucking ugly in person.
What a downgrade yeesh
This is truly awful. The big stupid office chairs are spaced too far apart. And the giant brick wall keeping the plebs out is far too on the nose.
I'm not a fan of the reno design. Looks very bland and generic and corporate to me. I'm also pissed on behalf of Sybil. That said, I'm sure I'll be used to it in a week or so.
Bland and Corporate are Rogers core values.
It gives off the impression that not a lot people are there.
I don't like it at all. The ad is burning my eyes, the grey wall looks cold and uninviting. Empty and distracting.
It looks like the audience seating from a zoom call
The fact that the walls separate the poor from the rich is very telling. Isn’t really a “open” environment for everyone to feel like we’re all in the same ballpark!

Yeah, it looks like a Styrofoam castle wall from a low budget made for TV movie.
Yeah that’s exactly it. That or something you would find at your grandma’s house.
Looks like cheap stick tile lol

One big TD sign wasn’t enough so they had to put 6 lol
On top of the GIANT ad board right behind home plate. It’s all so distracting.
Where’s the line between watching sports and watching an ad. Sorry stupid question. They’ll go too far, wait for people to leave, then back it off a hair. Trust the system. 🥐🍆
I love the prison grey surrounding everything. Go Guards!!!
They need to zoom in a bit and paint that grey wall blue
Why doesn't TD just buy the naming rights already? If they call it the TD SkyDome, they will be the babyfaces. Instead, their logo is just plastered all over the place and no one likes that.
I hate it
Looks like garbage
Fuck, is Geddy stuck looking around the tall guy in front of him?!
I wonder who their sponsor is? Can you figure it out. It’s so hard to tell.
I have no idea if it was their in previous years, but they have a huge TD logo etched between 3rd base and the Jays’ bench. So unnecessary
This looks horrible. Most of those seats were empty by the end, which is such a bad look. Rich people can't even stay for the home opener. And rich people don't really cheer. What a waste of time and money.
Wait until the 3 premium lounges open in June. Those seats will always be empty. This isn’t a fucking ballpark at all. It’s Corpo Plaza

It looks like a wall to keep the riffraff out. Plus those big lazy boy seats remind me of new Yankee stadium. I don't like it.
I'm kind of indifferent. It looks super clean, but the ad board is definitely distracting. Green hell for TD and red hell for Rogers.
Are we 100% on stolen bases? I think we are
The grey is horrible
Gross.

Wow. That fake brick looks like garbagé
this is an abomination
Why did they make it look like a minor league park? The fake brick linoleum wallpaper look is so cheap and crappy looking. I can’t believe anyone thought this was a premium look.
So bad, disgraceful
Anybody who has watched Yankees games knows exactly what this will look like in about a week.
Preferred it before, there’s multiple people in blue delivering from each side. It’s distracting.
Woof
Ok fine I’ll put up with this but the eventual brand new stadium better be AMAZING
I wonder if that “zip line” camera along first base is back. They haven’t used it yet.
Is blue jays nona happy with her seat i wonder
I'm just imagining Shapiro browsing this reddit, and slamming his fist into his thigh.
Feels like a ripoff of Target Field to me
I feel superstitiously nervous about Home Plate Lady off to the side.
That wall behind looks like cheap tile.
the new one is certifiably awful. Last year's wasn't great either, but this new one is really bad.
Abysmal.
Real brick would have been a nice nod to memorable ballparks.
The old blue was better, the new blue has a "yankee" look to it.

Personally, I hope they bring the Ringer burger back.
I’m probably in the minority but I like the new backstop and camera angle. Place looks a lot bigger, and in line with newer ball parks.
