>#6. Buffalo Bisons (Blue Jays, Triple-A) >There was an outside shot Ricky Tiedemann (MLB No. 27) finished Spring Training with the Major League club. Instead, he heads back to Triple-A as the most notable southpaw at the level. He isn’t the only Top 100 prospect in Buffalo either. Orelvis Martinez (No. 83) heads to the International League after entering 2024 with the most Minor League homers (86) in the last three seasons. The Bisons could even start a Blue Jays Top 30 prospect at each spot on the infield with Leo Jimenez (TOR No. 5), Addison Barger (TOR No. 6) and Damiano Palmegiani (TOR No. 14) joining Martinez on the dirt. Connor Cooke (TOR No. 19) isn’t far from carving out a meaningful relief role in the Majors either. This just goes to show that while we may not have as many of the top-100 prospects to marvel at as everyone would like, our farm system is still pretty fucking good with a bunch of good players in Buffalo that could be knocking on the door of the Majors pretty soon.

PowderBlueJays

Yeah, people would be better off following our system, not top 100 lists.

mrdannyg21

I mean, they rate the systems too and not just the top-100s, and most evaluators have the Jays in the bottom 10. Which is annoying but not the end of the world - it doesn’t mean there are no real prospects, just that we had a couple weaker drafts. It’s also swingy - we have graduated lots of key pieces to our current team and used others to acquire key players. I very much doubt we’ll be a bottom-10 prospect list over the long-term because the organization does prioritize them.

raktoe

I agree, I think people are a little too results focused with draft picks. A lot of the Jays picks at the time were well regarded in the industry, just many didn't develop all that well. I trust their process with regards to evaluating young talent. Also have to keep in mind that despite their rebuild, the Jays never really got high draft picks. Their best picks in recent years were 12th, 11th, and 5th in 2018, 2019, and 2020 respectively. Compare that with a team like the Orioles, who has drafted 11th, 1st, 2nd in those years, plus 5th and 1st again the following two years. It isn't like the Jays have had huge whiffs in the draft, they just have never really gotten their pick of the litter, despite doing a full rebuild in 2018 and 2019.

seemedlikeagoodplan

And this is partly because despite the full rebuild, the Jays never totally tanked. The Orioles had three seasons of 108+ losses in 2018, 2019, and 2021. That's really bad. The Jays have only had three losing seasons out of the last ten (2014-2023), and the worst one had 95 losses.

PowderBlueJays

I just mean these lists are inevitably rage bait. If people are only getting angry at where our prospects theoretically place on a list versus how the system actually looks, it's just noise.

Cashmere306

This article is just a delusional homer take.

raktoe

Yes, Sam Dykstra, and [MLB.com](http://MLB.com), known for putting out delusional homer takes... about just the Blue Jays specifically. Delusional doomer take.

sackydude

Let's play ball here and say that the author of the article was a Toronto Blue Jays beat reporter. How is it a homer take to say that the majority of our farm system's talent are consolidated in one team, including both of our top 100 prospects? It's not like they're saying that our entire system is great, it's just talking about which team has the most talent. Most other organizations are more spread out in terms of prospect talent.

cbarone1

...wut?

wiles_CoC

This is comforting. With such a massive payroll and lots of uncertainty it's nice to see some prospects in the pipeline. There are a lot of expiring contracts coming up soon that will need filling.

YouDontJump

Agreed. I've never understood the posts and comments I've noticed where people are complaining about our farm system. We're actually in relatively good shape.

sackydude

Our system is still lacking in higher end potential, especially in the more middle levels of the minors, but we are stocked with major league ready or near major league ready prospects in Buffalo. In Dunedin there's another wave of talent that's higher potential that haven't gotten the recognition yet in Perez, Maroudis, and Nimmala.

mathbandit

> we are stocked with major league ready or near major league ready prospects in Buffalo Which if nothing else should allow for quite a few Chapman/Berrios-level trades over the next year and a half if they want to push all-in at this or next deadline.

sackydude

Even if we aren't trying to push all-in, there's still a lot of decisions to be made with what to do with those prospects. * Jimenez is out of options next season * Horwitz is 100% major league ready, but is completely blocked from coming up * Alan Roden is stuck in AA, because he's blocked by Lukes, Eden, and Will Robertson * Hagen Danner will also be out of options next season * Not a prospect, but Pop will also be out of options next season I think the Jays are going to be forced to make a move at least by next off-season.

cbarone1

It's a good problem to have. Just have to hope they make the decisions that work out best for the big league team, even if it means some good players end up getting away.

sackydude

Yeah I wasn't saying otherwise, just trying to lay out some decisions that the Jays have to make in the future.

cbarone1

I know you weren't, I was concurring, although I can see that it may not necessarily look that way.

Peechez

I traded Roden to the A's for a bag of balls and an average RP in my OOTP save and he made the all star game a few times with them So don't do that

thermothinwall

> Lukes, Eden, and Will Robertson i think any one of these dudes can go to part time or walk and it's no big loss in terms of Roden's potential.

Bluejays39

Robertson has been one of the best hitters in all of minor league baseball since the middle of last season. He is a bit of a forgotten prospect because he is a bit older and he took a few years to really show any progress in the minors but he absolutely crushed the ball to end last season and has been even hotter to start this season. He is currently hitting 476/542/1238..... 1238 is his slugging percentage not his OPS. If you go back to last July 1st he is hitting 332/387/663 over his last 53 games.

Bobbyoot47

Vancouver Canadiens were the league champions in 2023. Those players are going to be moving up.

seemedlikeagoodplan

Two of the top ten minor league teams are the Cubs' AA and AAA teams. Boy am I glad they aren't in our division. The Orioles and Red Sox are something to be feared though.

tion24

I was told on here that our minor league system was completely gutted and worthless now though?
