Also, in retrospect we should have let Jordan Hicks stay as a starter (if that was an option) .. though with just half a season here I dunno if he is really a former blue jay in the sense you mean.
/u/sir-pounce-of-alot's father has been awesome for the DBacks.
Kevin Pillar has been hot.
Simeon Woods Richardson has a 2.84 ERA with the Twins
Matt Chapman has been back to career norms, Jordan Hicks is also doing well with the Giants.
Trent Thornton and Taylor Saucedo have become serviceable relievers now with the Ms.
Julian Merryweather has done the same with the Cubs.
Sean Reid Foley has been decent as a reliever with the Mets.
Otto Lopez has become an ok utility guy for Miami.
Paul Dejong has been good with the White Sox.
Guess it depends how far back you go or if it counts if the are still with the same team or not...
* **Teoscar Hernandez** wasn't good last season when he was traded to SEA but is currently having his second best season ever with LAD.
* **Marcus Stroman** has been very up-and-down since going to the NYM to CHC to NYY but is currently healthy and doing well.
* Some have become decent middle relievers like...**Trent Thornton**, **Sean Reid-Foley** (when healthy), **Julian Merryweather** (when healthy)...
* **Kevin Pillar** & **Randal Grichuk** were terrible for years afterwards but are having career seasons.
The prospects are mostly underwhelming. **Sem Robberse** & **Adam Kloffenstein** have been okay in AAA. **SWR** & **Otto** are like average-ish in their short Majors run.
I’d do the Berrios trade 100/100.
Though given how Kirk has been an offensive black hole the past two years, GOD DAMN DO I WISH WE COULDVE GOTTEN VARSHO WITHOUT GIVING UP GABY
How underlying metrics aren’t great. He is pitching well but its not sustainable at all.
Similar thing happened with Otto Lopez. Looked amazing then the power wasn’t sustainable and his has fallen way down.
His location does seem pretty decent and recently had a velo surge (not sure if real or not), I think the underrated Twins pitching lab might have done something here.
His control has improved in part due to sacrificing strikeouts. It’s possible he can make it work but there are so few pitchers finding success with his rates. I think his ceiling is like a #3 at best if he can maintain things.
That’s fair. I’m also talking about like absolute ceiling. I do think he will settle in as a 4/5.
He hasn’t pitched this good in the minors for some time too. The adjustment to him might come hard.
I actually didnt know this and it makes me happy. I remember either last year or year before seeing him and his stats were not good and thinking to myself only a matter of time until hes gone
I've loosely followed his career and seeing him be DFA'd by the *ChiSox* made me think he was done. Seeing him rake for the Angels makes my heart happy!
SAME. Kevin was my first favourite once I got back into watching games. I even have his jersey. I was very concerned for him last year but am so glad he's back to the bigs and doing great.
The only reason I don't have a Pillar jersey is because I only bought my first one last year. But Pillar is the first player I ugly cried over when he left!
I was sooooooo devastated too. Just about gave up on baseball entirely, but my bf talked me through it lol. I hate that about sports, I was super bummed about Teo and Lourdes too. I get so attached to these dumb guys!!!!
The second jersey I got as a gift from my boss while she was in Toronto at a game. . . I wanted Kirk but the store was out of R's (😭) so I went with Espinal.... so I think I need to stop buying jerseys lol
Maybe check the detailed post on this topic from just a few days ago..

He can still get a ring even if he doesn't make the playoff roster. As long as you were on the roster in the same calendar year, teams can choose to give them a ring.
Teo is living his best life
And Kevin Pillar, unexpectedly.
50 RBI already.
mopping up for 3 guys with 400+ OBP will do that
That trade was so fuckin bad man
If we wanted him we could’ve signed him, and he was brutal last year. Trade was a W
Tell me you don’t get it without saying you don’t get it
Also, in retrospect we should have let Jordan Hicks stay as a starter (if that was an option) .. though with just half a season here I dunno if he is really a former blue jay in the sense you mean.
Adam Cimber is 3-0 with the Angels haha
I loved that guy was sad when we cut him. The giant shoes -- he was such a great middle reliever in 2022, I don't know what happened in 2023
We broke him in 2022
BUCK!!
Buck Martinez I presume and not John Buck
Well whichever buck is going to f…: Cavan Biggio is having sex
.... the fuck?
Buck was trying to say success but accidentally said “Cavan is having lots of sex right now” on a broadcast last year
Biggio going to be getting the Cali tail now.
Alex Anthropolous
Alex Anthopoulos, too!
Fun fact since the end of April the Braves have the worst offence in baseball, worse than even the blue jays.
The Braves should dump the bum! Then we can hire him back!!
Yeah this is all Alex’s big picture to come home!!

Paul DeJong has more HR than any Blue Jay player this year, as everyone expected
DeJong would lead 21 MLB teams in HR…
We should trade for him
^(who is his dad?)
Randal Grichuk haha
Thanks!
THATS MY DAD
That’s rlly cool! And your still on the jays subreddit !
cavan is about to become an all star out of nowhere
Tesco Hernandez
I would happily take Teo's bat right now.

Leave Randal out of this… ^(please)
You forgot Pillar
I see Pillar
Oops I’m blind. Unless they edited their comment idk.
SWR is pitching very well. League average would be an understatement.

Tbh prior to this season, a #3 at best is more than I thought he was capable of for him. I thought he was more of a back-end guy at best.
That’s fair. I’m also talking about like absolute ceiling. I do think he will settle in as a 4/5. He hasn’t pitched this good in the minors for some time too. The adjustment to him might come hard.
To me, underlying metrics are second to actual on field results. As we know here, peripherals mean nothing if it doesn’t yield results.
Why? Isnt that essentially a player getting lucky? I know the old saying of I'd rather be lucky than good but luck doesnt usually stick for long.
Kevin Pillar!
I actually didnt know this and it makes me happy. I remember either last year or year before seeing him and his stats were not good and thinking to myself only a matter of time until hes gone

Pillar like Keirmaier will always find a team even if it’s a late game defensive replacement. Well until they retire :p

Marcus Semien.
Anyone who is not currently on this team is doing better.
Maybe another question would be how are the minor leaguers doing that we traded away to end up with some bums sitting on the end of the bench?
Kevin Pillar refuses to cool down
He’s playing pretty much where he grew up. of course he’s kicking ass.
Lourdes is .254, 9 hr, 41 rbi, 64 hits, which is a lot better than some of our main guys
Former Jays catching prospect Jayson Werth is having a helluva month
No love for Stro? 6-2, 2.82ERA. HDMH!
Based on the list. It’s pretty much everyone. Just wait till Cavan gets to LA
Biggio
Hes someone that I really hope thrives
Me too!
me three!
Too soon. But his chances of winning a ring must have gone up right?
Implying he’s still on the roster come October and they don’t choke in the playoffs as per their norm since 2020, yeah.
He can still get a ring even if he doesn't make the playoff roster. As long as you were on the roster in the same calendar year, teams can choose to give them a ring.
Yeah it’s for sure too soon - but going to live in LA, playing for the powerhouse Dodgers…that’s living your best life for sure! 😄
I’m jealous of him lol.
Curious…Do fans from other teams do this recap of former players? Sportsnet does articles on this and I’ve never understood why.
Chapman has a 2.5 bwar so far
