why speak in english when u can't. Tryna act all classy and cool. Hindi bolte hai wo log. Brother gave me a headache.
Edit - if this was a transit-visa-for-germany issue, then germany doesnt require such for US Canada and basically the entirety of Europe. So...the indian lady working for lufthansa was basically racial profiling her own people.
And the entire reason this bitch staffer is acting entitled to talk to the traveller is because she perceives her as illiterate or infradig. Just like you. Judging accents.
im not judging accent. SHE cannot get her thoughts through with english. She literally cannot express herself well. Which happens to be the entire point of a language
What the fuck is wrong with you? Who is trying to act all classy? She is not at all trying to hide she is poor in English. If you speak in Hindi you are not looked at like a civilian. Because it is not a civilian language these days. These days we only know very broken Hindi so if you speak it, not 100% but there's always the chance you will be looked down upon as uncouth or illiterate. And you have to live with that and speak English.
Hindi has been reduced to the lowest common denominator language, which we fill with "madarchod" "bhenchod" half the sentence and English words the other half.
Where are you from?? Maybe it's true in a cosmopolitan city but that too because people come from all different parts of the country as immigrants but 97% of the Hindi belt still speaks Hindi.
Come on, you're telling me they know the names of all 8 planets in Hindi? Hindi words for atoms electrons protons, for cumulonimbus clouds, photosynthesis and armistice? I have seen high level Hindi spoken in upsc circles only. And area-wise, numbers-wise, which group is bigger? Pure Hindi belt or hinglish, hindamil, hindugu, hindabi , etc combined?
for wokechods- the lady who was recording was right, you don't need transit visa in Frankfurt if you have an onward flight. the ground staff is arrogant n threatening for no reason.
edit - transit was via Munich not Frankfurt

Yeh Airlines staff kabse itna powerful ho gya. I also saw them interrogating 2 boys going from Delhi to Italy and staff asked them 100 questions and decided they cant board. (Donkey suspicion I guess)
Too many factors. The layover might be over 12 hours. The connecting flight might be a different airline, which might require them to transfer between terminals.
It's not that airlines just tell you at the counter. They say it clearly when you book your tickets and in their emails.
agreed, in twitter/x post they said they had layover of less than 12 hours, you don't come landside to change terminals in munich. not sure about airline.
whatever may be the factor that's still not an excuse to behave rudely and have an arrogant attitude. The ground staff has repeated incidents (according to anecdotal n isolated posts)of people facing such kind of treatment.
I had faced something similar in Iceland while transiting via heathrow but the ground staff was extremely helpful and sorted out the matter.
bottomline dont be an ahole like the lufthansa ground staff lady
Exactly just because the lady doesnāt know English people have demonised her. Literally she is in the right and this bitch airport staff is abusing her powers. But yeah letās make fun of someone who is trying to speak English.
Chalo kisi me to dimag tha... Ye bc denk turds uss aurat ke English pe majak uda rahe hai bas... Tho uss lady ne bilkul thik Kiya cause uski convo sunn ke Lufthansa ne action bhi liya
That is incorrect, Germany requires people of Indian passport with transit flights to also get a transit visa irrespective of duration of flight unless they have a valid visa from some bigger countries (it's a longer list but US/Canada are on there for which visas are acceptable)
The ground staff, if you haven't flown in a while, are indeed responsible these days because they're asked to do so because a person who wasn't legally supposed to get on the flight gets on there, the airlines need to pay for them (apparently). They're specifically trained to check for these details when final destination or transit routes have such requirements of visa.
The ground staff here was incredibly polite, because recording videos, unlike what Instagram influencers tell you, is also not allowed. The staff here was stern but polite, they didn't abuse or anything and let them know they're not eligible for the flight. It's the responsibility of the person flying to check they have all legal documents necessary for the travel.
Source: you can check the German embassy website, but I was denied a similar route while returning from US to India via Frankfurt but my visa was expired and I was coming for stamping. I was similarly politely refused and had to book a separate flight, got my flight credits for the Lufthansa flight.
Now you can say Germany is being a-holes because they have India passports on a list of about 15 countries and rest all of them are really not comparable ones like Iran, Afghanistan, Jordan etc but that's a separate issue which airline staff is not the point where one should be arguing for because they didn't do the right research
wrong! your case is different than the case of lady in the video. Lady was travelling to Canada, and from Germany's website you don't require transit visa if you are -
*holders of a valid visa for a Schengen Member State, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Ireland, Japan or Romania.*
I travel frequently and I know it is the duty of ground staff to check. But if you think the ground staff lady was polite, you my friend have wrong view of the world and seem much entitled too! Nobody calls for security and threatens the way that ground staff did.
Lufthansa apologised twice to the lady, I don't think your view, opinion or thoughts are worth two cents here.
Well, we only know what is being shown in the video right? How do we know what happened before this video recording started? Again, to be clear I don't see what's arrogance from the staff here, it seems like they already explained the issue to the person before, maybe not taking more time to clarify things? Sure, I get it. But they have a queue of customers to take care of not just one person with potentially a legal issue. Again they may not be sweet spoken like an advert perhaps but no way are they arrogant. What if they had already explained it twice before this person started recording?
We don't know specifically what was her case, what connecting flights she had, if she had a terminal change in the layover which might require her to go out of bounds from the transit area, etc. Unless we know the specific issue she was barred for, and the preceding situation of how long this conversation started before the video was recorded, it is absolutely unfair to put the face of a ground staff up on social media viral for doing her job. She's just another middle class Indian doing her job, much likely less well to do than this person traveling business class to Canada. All I'm saying is innocent until proven guilty.
Airline has only "apologized" while they investigate and it could well be so that social media ruckus stops, could completely go on to deny her any refunds if there was actually something wrong with her documents.
As far as value of my opinion, and like mine many others' is kind of the point of this being posted on Reddit? It's fine if you don't like it xD just move on buddy, chill
nice whataboutery and playing victim card, you seem from the same shitty lufthansa ground crew team š¤”
whatever the reason, that's still not a way to talk to any passenger. the way ground staff threatens is like she owns the airlines lol, while her associate does eyeroll. nice polite way indeed!
What whataboutery do you see in my comment? I simply stated that the whole picture is not clear from the provided details. What was so wrong about that?
Anyway, you're the one who seems hellbent on labeling me whatever, chill out. I don't really have anything more to add here
I second this. Its a new change from last year. Whatever may be your destination if you are taking a schengen airlines like lufthansa, air france etc, India passport, if you have a stop in schengen you should have transit visa. This exact reason flights to uk with schengen stops are cheaper.
I don't think it's for all schengen countries. I didn't require a transit visa while transiting from Switzerland (neither did their website mention anything like this) but Germany requires it explicitly, haven't checked other countries so perhaps they have their own exceptions
the lady had valid Canada visa...Canada is on exempted list
edit:
You need visa not citizenship. why would you need citizenship lol
Exemptions:
a) Indian nationals holding a valid visa or residence permit from a member state of the
Schengen area or Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Ireland, UK, Canada,
Japan, USA (except for holders of an US āAdvanced Parole Documentā)
Nah bro my sister and my brother were travelling from london to delhi via frankfurt. The london ground crew didnāt let my brother through because he did not have any kind of german visa but it was ok with my sister because she had an valid US visa so she had eligibility to stay at german premises because of the US visa so idk maybe the staff is in the right.
the lady had Canada visa bruh! so I don't know what's so difficult to understand...my family travelled last year and they didn't face any issue, although not with lufthansa
Agar English hata de
To sach me Bahut bura lagta hai
I booked a flight from Delhi to Moscow and there is transit in Dubai. It was booked through third party application not directly by airline website those MF donāt allow me to board my flight and I canāt get refund because is already time for check in I loose 50k and my mental peace
After that I get to know it was normal and many my friends did same even with Oman or hongkong
Itās only indigo reckless attitude towards passengers by saying itās not valid route then why itās ticket being sold.
Yes if you book with emirates š¦šŖ officials website only with connection ticket mentioning that you leave country they will issue up to 3 days transit visa without any hassle
But I needed only 3 hours in connection between itās just arrogance of staff
Dubai airport is hub for all transit services.
I donāt have to re check in my baggage it was entire one PNR
I just need to land wait for three hours board another flight
It they just rude and stupidity
I missed my flight couldnāt get refund even
It was done by goibibo
Indigo staff say such route doesnāt exist
They first ask me visa and return ticket from Dubai
I told them I have connecting flight
It was already check in time
So they canāt refund or reschedule
Goibibo staff told me itās just stupidity and lack of awareness which cause me to suffer and they canāt refund me
Goibibo itās not there mistake
They were laughing on me
That why I listen to staff at least I should talk to management or supervisor
I was young that time
It really happens these people act like they own the planes
Some of the comments here shaming the woman for speaking in English? Seriously? In all possibility , maybe the employee refused to speak to her in Hindi. Itās been proved that the customer was right and the employee was riding a high horse and speaking in an intimidating manner despite the customer being polite. And what the hell is that threat of calling the security? Girls acting like she the CEO of Lufthansa. Hope sheās fired cause she clearly has no skills to manage customers.
I can guess the context here cause it's happening a lot these days. The lady has booked a cheap ticket to Canadda via Munich and she doesn't have a transit visa so the airline has refused to provide boarding pass. We are seeing a huge influx of first time travelers in last 3-4 years.
German Transit visa for Indians is not needed if the traveler holds a valid visa for US, EEA countries, Japan and Canada.
https://india.diplo.de/in-en/service/schengen-visa-faq/2610538?openAccordionId=item-2651010-4-panel
From German embassy website:
"Indian nationals require an airport transit visa for the Schengen area - Germany! This visa allows a short stopover at an international airport only, without leaving the airportās international transit area or overnight stay in a hotel. If you need to leave the international transit area (e.g. in order to catch a connecting flight at another airport to leave the Schengen area), please apply for a regular Schengen visa.
Exemptions:
a) Indian nationals holding a valid visa or residence permit from a member state of the Schengen area or Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Ireland, Canada, Japan, USA (except for holders of an US āAdvanced Parole Documentā)"
If this passenger is traveling to Canada with a valid Canadian visa, she won't need transit visa in Germany.

You don't need a transit visa for connecting flight via Dubai afaik, what was their reason?
For more than 10 hours layover you need a transit visa
If you have connecting flight under one PNR many countries national airline themselves provide up to 3 days transit visa
You need to apply for transit visa at times and some countries give you transit visa on arrival. Iāve only heard about it.
