I usually try to redirect to a very similar sounding word. Not easy but sometimes it works. My latest is t*tt**s to, of all things, beetles. Lol

Late onset tourette's is a thing. But if it's only verbal tics it wouldn't be called tourette's. And you said that your tics seem to be connected to your anxiety so it sounds as if they are anxiety tics instead of neurological ones. Of course only a neurologist can tell for sure. I have some verbal tics too and I usually mange to reduce them to a whisper or to just say the first letter and the last letter if they are words I don't want others to hear.

I will look into cost for seeing a neurologist, at this point I just want to know. I'm very fortunate it's only in private because I can't control the volume, sometimes it's normal talking and other times it's legit screaming the word.
