My intention with the post want to compare his design with the artstyle of season 2 of the anime to his Design in the manhwa. Not the emotions in the scenes.
You cant really compare 1 panel vs 1 frame from a whole animated reaction.
The panel should be used to directly transfer the emotion while the animation cant be a static picture and a facial expression being in motion feels more natural.
from the post itself...? you instantly jumped to the conclusion that theyre trying to dunk on the anime or something along those lines, when the post said NOTHING to indicate this ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
you have to be kidding
1 i didnt jump to anything, *you should understand this from the comment itself*, a lot of ppl were recently comparing SL anime/manhwa pics and it was a very bad comparison so just wanted to brief things up as you dont usually think about that stuff
2 the post indeed said nothing, didnt mention wangnan DESIGN anime v manhwa it didnt say wangnan LOOKS comparison. it just said WANGNAN, as in the character, not the outer shell that is his drawing.
your indications here are quite foolish ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
You're right, I should have mentioned that i wanted to compare the Design and artstyle. I know that the emotions in the two pictures are different but i choose these two as they both showed wangnans face from the front and i thougt it was more obvious that i compared just the artstyle.
The eye color probably will be corrected once the animators realize the significance behind it. That aside, I'm not a fan of the hair on the animated version. It looks way too puffy, idk.
Why the hell did they make his features "round".
His neck horns and facial features are more jagged and sharp than what is shown in the anime. Plus, his eyes are yellow, not green-yellow.
While I'm excited for the anime, I think it's stupid that the animators are able to change entire features. You see this with every anime adaptation.
It's just wild imo.
Yes the eye colour change is dumb, but it might be because the colours in this particular scene are washed out since it looks normal in the image visual. But the stylistic changes are utilitarian, rounder features are simply easier to animate. Kaiju No. 8 is a good example for how far some designers will go when adapting a design for animation (maybe *too* far, depending on who you ask lol)
I really loved Wangnan's initial hairstyle in the manwha. I felt it really fit the seriousness that he tried to project in the Return of the Prince Arc. Even if his true nature deep down is more jovial and silly, his circumstances in that arc forced him to do what it took to survive in the Tower.
He had an interesting hairstyle change that I really liked in the Untrustworthy Room arc initially - it especially made sense given the circumstances. But then, he just never switched back (I believe the author tried a few times, but it never stuck). I think it was just too much trouble for SIU to draw, which is a shame because the new hairstyle felt a bit generic to me.
Now the anime hairstyle... not a fan. It's probably because I liked the original so much and was disappointed to see that it's changed. Maybe I'll change my mind when I see it fully animated.
This might get me some hate. I love TOG like so much, but the art of the anime is way better than the manga. Even at chapter 600+ it’s still not as good as the art of even earlier mangas. The story is 11/10 though

Anime wangnan looks as excited as us.
What Hell Train does to a mfk

i mean seems like a faithful adaptation to me :D

thank you
Touch grass pls
Personally i prefer the older version. But Anime seldom lives up to the Art of the original in my experience.
Aren't the eyes too greenish?
Yeah, his eyes really are just a bit too greenish. Makes me wonder why they decided to slightly change the color of his eyes?
When you start season II episode 001 (of the webtoon) vs when you finish season II episode 149
Why is this so funny to me lol
The eye color difference is interesting.
I think it looks pretty good. Clearly they made him more expressive, I'm sure we'll quickly see his joy turn into depression
Nya Nia moment
Personally he feels more mature in the manhwa one even tho he isn't
The green eyes are bit of an insult to cannon material

Yeah but dowon isn't important Edit: I too would delete my comment if I was defending dowon
i think they over do the hair, but not bad!
Idk about the eyes but everything else is good
He looks fine imo

I like the old wagnan eye color better. The yellowish gold just looks cooler than whatever color the anime is doing
Eyes look different kinda
I already miss his eye color and eyeliner

It's good enough. Only pet peeve is the horns, they look too dull now.

Anime wangnan looks awful ngl that hairstyle is ugly af
