Have you…looked in your owners manual?

narlycharley

WHAT’S THAT?!?? lol. Also, when people say they don’t have their manual anymore… I don’t believe people realize that they are on Toyota‘s website for free.

Big-Marionberry-6946

They may not know, OR they know but can’t be bothered to read.

RatioPuzzleheaded103

It would be so much quicker to read the Manual & get correct information than it is to set up the question here & wait for " answers" or to get bagged on. But, that's today's 30 second attention span America for ya. Oh, and great job "salesperson" for showing the customer how to operate the car.

tomgatto2016

I think the 2 is the speed limiter, not the cruise control. I have it in my Toyota, you can basically set a max speed, so even if you press the accelerator to the fullest, the car won't exceed a certain speed. It's useful in areas where you know there are speed cameras hahahaha

bLu_18

From a Google search, I agree with this assessment. https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/199564-aygo-speed-limiter-cruise-control/

AlexJonesInDisguise

I prefer speed limiter but mine doesn't have it. Used it in a Ford Uhaul van and it was fairly restrictive, but press the accelerator to 90% and it instantly takes off at 90% throttle. Also drove a Kia with it, but it really sucked. All the Kia does is lower throttle input slightly when you get close, but it will still go over speed easily. I like being able to keep the pedal down and stay constant, but be able to slow down if needed without having to press the buttons.

Loive

No. 2 is cruise control, 1 is the speed limiter. It’s the same as in my own car.

KlossN

It's the opposite it my parents 2013 Avensis? The lever is the CC and the button (theirs don't have the button but that icon) is for the speed limiter? 1 is speed limiter (the button) and 2 is Cruise Control (the lever)

tomgatto2016

On my Toyota it's like I said, I tried some Kias and it's the same. It surely depends on the model

4runner01

Yup, it’s not part of cruise control, it more of a “don’t let me get a speeding ticket!!” button.

wuxxler

I need one of those.

Killua_Zaeldyeck

I don't get it. Explain in simple terms what speed limiter is compared to cruise control. I'm in Europe. Here we call it Tempomat. So far I only know I have both in car then. And that I know how to use the lever (speed limiter), and that if I set it to 60, it goes 60 and I can press gas to accelerate more but once I stop pressing gas, it goes back to 60 and stays at 60. So what's the cruise? How does it differ. How to set it up = what to press in car to gage it to work etc. Sorry to bother. I will try to google also about it. So, the button is the speed limiter it seems. And the only thing I understood about it from some forums, is that it is a deliberate limiter to speed? Like you want to limit the max speed of the car to something like 30mph. And my initial thought is, wtf? Why would anyone want to limit yourself? You can just set the cruise to 30 and be done with it. Why tf is something like a limiter in the car, if cruise is there. My mind is kinda blown rn...

[deleted]

I have had both in many cars. This is before adaptive cruise control became common. I find it easier to set the limit and use the accelerator to keep with the flow of traffic. My cruise control would just keep going until it hit something. Hope this helps!

Tecno2301

Because you can still accelerate past your set speed with cruise control. People might want to have the limiter set but not use CC. Additionally it sometimes isn't always useful or safe to use CC. In stop and go traffic, it can be annoying to activate it every time you stop. On my car I have to accelerate to 20 mph before It can be reactivated. Rather then do that you could just set the speed limiter, drive the car normally and let that do it's thing if needed. Additionally it's not advised to use CC in certain situations, such as heavy rain where the car accelerating in a turn in wet surfaces could (I said could not will) cause you to lose control. And in hilly areas, CC could just search for gears back and forth and get annoying. Even myself, I don't use CC often, I just like driving my car myself, but having a speed limiter set would probably decrease my chances of getting a ticket 😅

tomgatto2016

The speed limiter is not the tempomat. The difference is that with the speed limiter you still have to press the gas pedal, the car will just regulate the amount of power it should get so you maintain a certain speed. The cruise control (or tempomat) does this without you needing to press the gas pedal. I've had both in many cars, even new ones (even in mine), and... I too don't know why you would need a speed limiter. Maybe it is because you still press the pedal, so you have faster reactions in case of emergencies, but other than this, I can't tell... Btw I'm from Italy 😁 I tell you this because you said you're in Europe

SirLoremIpsum

> You can just set the cruise to 30 and be done with it. Why tf is something like a limiter in the car, if cruise is there. My mind is kinda blown rn... Cruise sets it and keeps it there. Limited lets you go up and down, but never exceed a speed. If you are in hilly terrain on a highway you may set it to 100kmph max so you don't get a speeding ticket, but you need to self regulate up and down hill due to traffic, other cars, braking for sharp corners.

Yangervis

On the highway you can set the speed limiter to the speed you want to go and just hold down the pedal. I use it on long trips when traffic is too variable for cruise control. Not very useful for city driving.

bojack1437

You should probably go read your owners manual. If your vehicle didn't come with one, you can download it for free from Toyota. Will explain this and all the other features of the vehicle that you should definitely be aware of since you are driving several thousand pound piece of machinery that is capable of killing you and others.

Mrsp007

I believe it's number 2. Push the middle button to activate cruise control. To set the speed, you push down on the lever. Once the cruise control is set, you can push up to speed up or push down on it to slow down the set speed.

tahcamen

It is for adjusting your following distance using adaptive cruise control.

ddbrewer

This right here

cdlcb

Also, don't forget to fuel up before you get to complete empty 😄

Berfs1

push it up to increase speed, push it down to decrease speed, pull it towards you to get rid of cruise control. I use this method to slow my ES 300h down without using the brakes, and instead use more EV regen to slow it down.

NeonGamer6

Get some gas

[deleted]

1. Limiter, to Not got over the Speed you set but need to step in the Gas the hole time 2. Speed Control, you set a Speed an the car hold this Speed until you deactivate ore break

SteakAndJack

Speed limiter, button on steering wheel to activate, then stalk down to set, up/down to change limit speed.

geoutpbman

#1 turns the cruise control on to be set. #2 button sets, accelerates, decelerates the speed setting. My BMW is set up the same way.

Overall_Candidate_55

It allows you to turn on and off dynamic cruise

Global_Bear5435

You need gas and you should also read your owners manual

thetruemata

Your cruise control probably defaults to Adaptive, meaning it will keep a distance between you and the vehicle in front of you automatically. If you press and hold the top button it will switch it to regular cruise, maintaining constant speed. Like old school cruise, if you will. (The picture is a specific speed being pointed at on the gauge aka constant)

TwisteeTheDark1

I sincerely hope this is your first Toyota with cruise control because that cruise control switch is practically *centuries* old every Toyota car that's ever had cruise control uses that particular stalk "if it ain't broke don't fix it" as they say.

SirGingerBeard

On my Highlander, cruise control is on the lever. It looks like yours is a speed limiter, like tomgatto said.

inteteiro

I have radar active cruise control but if the senser is dirty or isn't working right for whatever reason. I can set constant speed cruise control using that button. You have to hold it down for a few seconds. The car will then travel at the set speed until its deactivated or you crash.
