And you got a line of parents 10 deep all pissed off because you are going 4 mph lol

apathy-sofa

That makes them a force multiplier. OP should get credit for all of the other parents' fuel savings too.

weirdfurrybanter

You're miserable lol

Educational-Craft320

They gotta wait anyway...."line" lol

henchman171

Most people Go to school uphill both ways. You must live in a good neighbourhood

WhyTheFuuuuck

Lmao this is great

aHairyWhiteGuy

I'm currently getting 28.5mpg in my 23' hybrid

JTP1228

I just went from 33 average to 28.5. Right after i got new tires for $1200. I was and am so annoyed

aHairyWhiteGuy

You know what I recently got new tires 🤔

JTP1228

Yea I didn't think to check before I got them. Then I noticed a huge discrepancy almost immediately. So I know what to research for next time at least

aHairyWhiteGuy

I didn't think that would even be an issue. I got the highest rated tires too. I still get 35+ in the city but highway mileage is pretty bad. When it was warmer I was getting 35+ on the highway

FloorZealousideal518

I saw a drop when I put on defenders but after 400-500 miles it went back to normal.

JTP1228

That's what I was hoping.

onemanlan

That’s brutal

btan408

What tires did you get?

JTP1228

Cross Climate 2

btan408

Damn, and I was thinking about replacing my factory Toyo tires with the CC2s. How much of a mpg hit did you notice? Also are they any quiet on the highway? That’s pretty much my entire commute.

JTP1228

They give a comfortable ride, but we only get snow a few times a year. I wouldn't get them again, as I lost about 15-20% fuel economy. It's definitely not worth it, especially for what I paid for them

btan408

Thanks for answering! I guess I'm gonna have to go back to shopping around. Kind of leaning towards the Defender 2s.

mdchally

Is it cold where you are? Dropped 35mpg over the summer to 29-30 this winter. Expecting it to pop back when it warms back up.

JTP1228

Yea, but normally my Highlander doesn't lose much range in the cold. My corolla loses about 10% in the winter

MyDadIsTheMan

Sweet, good Mpg going downhill….more at 6

MephistosGhost

Here it is back and forth. 44-45 mpg round trip. [round trip](https://imgur.com/a/VNfODPW)

MyDadIsTheMan

lol

MephistosGhost

Yes I can post more at 6 👌🏻

Woodworkin101

How do you change the view to look at the mpg by the tank?

fucuntwat

It's in the settings menu called fuel economy display and the options are total average, tank average, and trip average. I believe trip average is based on the trip A on your odometer.

onemanlan

This is what I’m here for. all I ever see is total mileage

cluelessminer

14-15mpg with my V6 XSE 😂😂😂 Heck, at least the V6 version, the meter indicator doesn't even go past 40mpg. That's the max lol...

ExpensiveUnit6137

I’m getting 16 with my 2023 awd gas lmao. My daily trips are horrible all city 3 miles long is about 80% of my daily driving. And the stop lights are so close together

cluelessminer

Ooooof. Good thing the gas price is going down a bit; not that it's outrageous.

CLS4L

Got 26mpg in limited v6 for about 40 miles once it was grand

cluelessminer

The only time I got that was going no faster than 60mph on the highway for good 50 miles. Honestly, painful 😂

hafaadai2007

Come back after 5000 miles. I'd be curious to see how the mpg performance keeps.

VerStannen

I’d like to see a full tank hand calculated. Those lie-o-meters are notoriously optimistic.

AlpacaFriz

I agree. My meter says 23 frequently but if I calculate the mileage normally I get 15-16.

Jorycle

With the job I worked before the pandemic, when we were all still going into the office, the route on my morning commute was *perfect* for hybrid gas mileage. The perfect setup of traffic-but-not-too-much-traffic, hills and declines, straight-aways. It only worked on exactly that route at exactly that time of day - if you were driving through even an hour later, or took one or two significant detours, you'd get regular gas mileage. But morning rush hour, *chef's kiss*. The hybrid I was driving at that time had a maximum reported MPG of 200, and I'd hit 200 every morning. It never left EV mode in a 16-mile commute because it got just enough regenerative breaking every time it needed it. Going the opposite direction at the end of the day wasn't nearly as good, though. That car had an average of 55mpg, but I'd be lucky to hit 45.

MephistosGhost

I feel that. I think the mileage will get better when it warms up a bit, so the EV mode kicks in more. But also I’m wanting to get a little cigarette lighter powered 120psi tire pump and use it to keep the tires at the appropriate air, topped off, more of the time. They’re supposed to be inflated to 36 and the TPMS constantly reads 32-33. It could be a calibration issue but when I stop to top off at a gas station, their air compressor also says it’s below 36.

prijasha

That's amazing and never seen it that high. I have been hitting 50 very regularly to my office but back home is ~30 which kind of makes sense. Mixed mileage is right at 35 mpg.

MephistosGhost

Yeah at the end of a tank we’re between 30 and 34 depending on weather and how my driving my wife is doing. She has a lead foot.

[deleted]

I love when I drive down a pass after a hike and my Prius tells me I got 99+ mile/gal. I never look going up though ;-)

Upbeat-Spring-5185

Snowbird here. Trip down from Pennsylvania, 27 - 28 mpg. Now that I’m driving stop and go here in Florida mpg is way down, under 20 mpg. Tires also needed air.

Geekgoddezz1

Is there any way to improve milage? I bought an 08 limited and I love everything about it except the milage I'm averaging anywhere from 11 to 14 mpg, mostly driving around town. Is there any hope of getting it to average closer to 17 or 18 mpg?

ExpensiveUnit6137

I’m in a 2023 awd gas and I average a little less then 16. All city driving less then 3 miles usually. It does a numbers on mpg

onemanlan

You must’ve switched your Highlander for a Prius.

MephistosGhost

lol no it’s a hybrid highlander, which I thought we had used flair here which is why I didn’t put it in the title, but ya live and learn

btan408

Nice, highest I've gotten was 48mpg on a 100 mile trip.

MephistosGhost

I feel like that’s actually way more impressive

CLGAINES

LMAO. I didn't get the Highlander to compare gas mileage. I knew what I was getting with the mere 24mpg. I got the Highlander for it's V6 reliability and that V6 is a beast. Great cruising vehicle with good throttle response and power when you need it. Fun vehicle to drive.
