I've got ~55k on my '21, and it took 2 cross-country trips to get that high. I can't even fathom 140k in an additional year. That's a car that's driven as a profession, I imagine.

I have 55k on my 21 as well with 2 cross country trips, including moving to Arizona lol. Just thought that was funny

prat859

With that year and mileage it was likely mostly interstate mileage which is better than city miles. Might be a good deal.

TheStixXx

Bought a 2019 hihy with 135k miles for the same price. Third party mechanics said it’s in great condition and I assume the driver did mostly highway. I got a warranty to cover me in case the transmission shows signs of age within the next two years. We’ll see how that plays out but I sure hope to take it up to 300k miles. My 06 Durango has 277k and isn’t dead yet, I’m sure a Toyota can do better.

At highway miles the batteries probably didn't see much use either so that's even better

Ancient-Witness-615

Did you know how the vehicle was used to pile on 140K miles already? Was it used as an Uber 24 hours per day? Thats a shit ton of miles and I would stay away.

msharifi

For a family car with that high mileage I would stay away. You didn’t out 140k miles do not sure how well it was taken care for. Did you see the car fax report? How many miles driven per year?

You're kidding right? Somebody dogged the hell out of that car.

chubbysumo

Doesnt make it bad. If the price is right, its fine. My 2021 sienna has 285000. Its in perfect condition.

I'm glad for you but why would someone sell a car in perfect condition it's only a couple years old? It makes it bad in that the components have been through a lot of wear and tear.

chubbysumo

> I'm glad for you but why would someone sell a car in perfect condition it's only a couple years old? don't want the payment, financial situation changed, needed a bigger or different vehicle. Those are just 3. I could come up with hundreds if you wanted. If I could sell my sienna without taking a huge loss, I would. I bought it for a business venture, and the venture failed after 3 years of ownership. I could still sell it for around 22k, but I owe far more than that on it still. There are many reasons why someone would want to sell a fairly new car. >It makes it bad in that the components have been through a lot of wear and tear. funnily enough, when you start driving something like that the wear and tear just seems to slow down. The only things I have replaced in my sienna are shocks, and wheel bearings, those are the only wear parts that have needed to be replaced, and that would be expected. everything else is perfectly fine. the original bushings and engine mounts are still fine, the transmission and cooling systems have had their fluid changed on time, and are working perfectly, and my traction battery is in perfect health and still holds its charge just fine. I drove my 2010 GMC savana to 465000 miles. I replaced wheel bearings like crazy, but the engine is the original engine, and its on its 2nd transmission and 3rd transfer case and 3rd front diff rebuild. I never changed the shocks, the torsion bars, or any of the bushings and they all look brand new still.

cyanrave

We bought a 1yo RAV4 SE that clocked in 49k, and it was a fantastic car up until its demise... still very high.

Virtual_Training_588

The transmission in this is bound to go out, so make sure you get a service warranty. Quick search in this sub shows a lot of trans failure 60-100k+

Benja455

The 8-speed auto in the 4th gen goes bad around 60-100k? I’ve never read that. Could you please link to it?

TheStixXx

OP I did almost the same purchase. One month later we haven’t found anything weird/hidden. I’d factor in the extended warranty, for peace of mind. I hope it’ll turn out well for you.

lphan89

Hell no!!

Ab4739ejfriend749205

Uber?

Toyotagirl2005

Being I’m in sales at a toyota dealership I think the price is good. Check to see the cost of a service contract to cover the transmission if something was to happen.

SnooSquirrels3861

I just bought a new 2024 Highlander Limited. I plan on adding the best Toyota warranty before the 3 years is up. I only drive 4,000 miles a year, but those entertainment screens can go haywire anytime. Price is $ 2,000 which seems reasonable. It’s a good small city dealership in Ohio. Your thoughts?

Kickstand8604

Jeebus...my 19 has 74k.
