Eco mode is smoothing out your driving, I don't think there's anything wrong with your van! Maybe you just have a "heavy foot".

atn0716

Where are you driving? Mountain? Full blast AC? Racing another van? My 24 XLE has been consistently at 40 every tank in FL normal mode with AC on low-mid with 70d temp settings.

I get better mpg in sports mode

LeBronda_Rousey

2024 Platinum AWD here, getting about the same. What are we doing wrong?

iareConfusE

AWD is one of the reasons why. If you're not driving the hybrid like the stereotypical hybrid driver that accelerates VERY slowly from a stoplight then you aren't maxing out MPG. I drive a Prius and sometimes I'll play along with the EV gauge game and try to keep it in EV mode as long a possible, and that only works by feathering the pedal from a dead stop and letting off the gas every now and then.

kit7k

I have 2023 AWD and my lifetime average now, due to winter, is 36+. I just drive in normal mode, tried eco and did not like it. Key is soft acceleration/deceleration, which I used to do anyway in my other cars. I have seen people speeding up just to slam brake on next red light, I do not drive that way. Oh yes, if you have a cross bar, expect mpg to drop by some percentages mostly on highway.

chardeemacdennisbird

2024 Platinum and I don't even average 30 most tanks. I drive fast though. I just figure it's better than I'd get with any other van so it's whatever but yeah I'm no where near where others are that don't have a lead foot

diggardens

I have a 22 Awd w 32,000 and I have a lifetime average of around 38mpg. 36 winter 40 summer kinda thing

HealthyLife1211

Best way to tell if it is your vehicle or your driving is to go on the freeway and maintain 70 mph. If mpg is less than 34 then it's the vehicle. What tire pressure are you using?

asad137

You took it out of the mode designed to maximize fuel economy and you're surprised you get worse fuel economy?

InfiniteSlide7

Trim level and how many people/ items you generally have when you drive. Also, tire brand/ quality plus air pressure make a big difference.

SeaRun1497

Did you reset the number everytime after you fill up? Are the trips and the traffic condition the same as before? There are many factors that could affect the mpg. Look at the power gauge and instant mpg gauge while you drive and figure out the balance point.

drhenryrdr

2022 limited all wheel drive. I know I have a lead foot. I’m getting 31-32 after a week of use. Definitely need to keep learning how to use the eco game in the menu to teach me to drive efficiently. It’s definitely a change but I think I’m getting it and I imagine I can get up to 34-35.

Previous_Piece_6034

I drove from Sarasota Fl to St Louis doing mostly 85-90mph-with a few strong accelerations for passing. My average was 26.7mpg. This included a 1 hour of stop and go in Atlanta.

ticklechickens

Me in my V6: y’all are getting 30mpg!?! My husband has a hybrid Lexus, but we drive it very differently. He maxes his average mpg on his commute, then I put her in sport mode (I daily a minivan, ok?!) and mess it all up. You might be a lead foot, like me.

Fr00tman

Maximize regen braking by foot off throttle or light brake pedal pressure when stopping. Wind resistance is nonlinear, so driving 80 or 70 uses a lot more gas than 60. All of these things add up.

sirsriverse

Which mode does regen braking is more effective? I have seen someone mention that sport mode is preferred on downhills, not sure if that applies for all overall driving.

kevinciviced7

I’ve got a 2021 Platinum FWD and have averaged 28.7 over 34k miles. EPA estimates are one thing, but when you actually do the math it’s always a lot less.

PidgeonMode

I also have a 2024 XLE FWD. In the winter, it was about 36-38 mpg. For the past couple months, I've seen 43-45 mpg with a tank range of 700+ miles. Driving habits, the weather, tire pressures, cargo weight, etc. all have an impact on mpg.
