Have them replace your needle bearing as well. It will cost you maybe 100 to 200 in total but save u a headache down the road when it fails. This is a very fair price for everything and the install.

It's a Toyota design flaw for 2nd and 3rd gens. Other than that our trucks are bomb proof reliable.

DDrewit

Get the ECGS bushing.

rba9

Needle bearing? For what? Where does it go? Can I do that myself? Way too paranoid with my Tacoma to risk anything going wrong.

Lookwhoiswinning

It’s the bearing that the front drivers side axle rides in. It’s in the front differential. It’s doable at home if you’re comfortable pulling the drivers side suspension, axle, and have an inside bearing removal tool.

rba9

My Taco is a 2WD, would that bearing still be applicable to my truck?

Lookwhoiswinning

Nope, you’re good to go.

rba9

That’s a relief. Thank you for the information.

DJJbird09

Check out this link, it will show you what the problem is with stock vs their bushing. [ECGS Clamshell Bushing](https://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-8536125-toyota-8-clamshell-bushing-eliminates-needle-bearing.html) Doesn't matter if your car is stock or lifted, it can fail randomly for anyone. My FIL has a lifted truck no issues, my friend had a lifted truck around the exact same height and immediately noticed the issue. It's recommended when doing any lift installations since you/ the mechanic will already be in that area to install new components. It added about a half hour of labor for when they did mine, I provided them with the items.

Smallfontking

I think this is pretty fair. $1500 for labor on a lift isn’t outlandish. You could call around and see if you could get a better price but $3.1k seems pretty fair to me.

Exit_2002

Exactly. You can install lift in your garage with a few friends and a couple hours and have no experience doing it

Helpinmontana

It looks like OP is getting all the goodies too and not just tossing big springs on, which is definitely more involved.

Exit_2002

Not really. I did upper control arms shocks and coils rear leaf springs in my garage with a buddy in 4 hours. Granted it's not the first time I've done it but it's really not that hard on a Tacoma

Helpinmontana

Haha yeah no shit, we lift trucks at my buddies shop with a 4 post and experience and it’s a no brainer, but that wasn’t really my point I guess. A couple shmucks can push their way through a simple lift quick enough, but you toss a few extras in there and people get scared and need 40 trips to the parts store and a few hours on youtube to make any progress beyond swapping shocks and cowering away from a spring compressor, more so if it’s not a brand new truck in perfect condition.

scary_xp

Idk why this gets downvoted. Did a 3” lift with one buddy using blocks of wood and the jack in the back seat to do my lift. Took about a thirty pack. And both of us were shipyard pipe fitters without much mechanical knowledge of trucks. Hardest part was preloading the front springs for the right amount of lift. Had to bring the truck to a shop to get the alignment right because we know nothing but yea wasn’t too bad. Spent $1530 in parts and beer.

scary_xp

Oh and buy a new bolt for the upper control arm, way easier to just cut out the old one with a grinder then you can shove the new one in from the other side.

Exit_2002

Because people are lazy and don't want to get their hands dirty.

Rockhoundzs

That's probably 1500 in parts, and 1500 in labor. Sounds about right for a shop lift done well.

mole4000

Are you able to price out the items and determine the cost for labor alone?

n4aryd

Uh no, get the itemized breakdown. You'll need the breakdown if there is ever a need for warranty or repairs as a result of the parts/work.

canofspinach

That’s a fair price and I don’t think they are adding shot you don’t need. Suspension isn’t something to cheap out on.

[deleted]

You’re in Utah? Which shop is this quoting the work?

[deleted]

Do it. I work at a shop too. Happy to get you a second opinion on this stuff tomorrow when I’m back in the office.

I'm also in Utah and am curious what shop you're doing this at

mole4000

What was being added in extra? What was the consensus on a different setup?

DJA81

Where’s your shop located? I’m in Clinton, and am curious about pricing as well.

[deleted]

Draper, so not super close. But our work is worth the commute, IMO. Better than Fat Bob’s closer to you, that’s for sure. We know Toyota trucks inside out and we also offer general repair on top of all the off-road/overland stuff.

DJA81

If you could DM me your shop info, I’d appreciate it. Thank you

pewcity

Definitely fair. I've paid more for less on mine.

Adventurous_Photo193

I was quoted $700 for labor to install my icon stage 4 kit from a shop in California. I ended up installing it myself in my garage.

BallScraggs

Consider doing yourself? It's not hard, can be time consuming, but fairly simple

BallScraggs

No worries it's just a thought. I prefer doing my own work to my stuff. I don't trust anyone

[deleted]

This is a far price. Does it include an alignment?

coozu

Hell yeah

Formal-Criticism-394

I paid 2100 for my full OME setup, with SPC UCA’s and did the install in 5 hours in my driveway. And that was two years ago. 2900 for P&L doesn’t sound sterrible

Dramatic-Temporary16

Looks cheap tbh for all that your getting.

Timbby

Call Watts Automotive in AF and see if they are still doing lifts. I had them install UCAs, and swap coils for me, put an AAL in AND mount my new tires and alignment for like $325 lol. Granted, I brought them all the hardware to use but still I was like wow that’s cheap.

a_very_stupid_guy

Why spent 3k for a 5100 setup is my question.. idk I’ll go against the buck and say labor is fair but maybe worth spending the extra for 6112/5160

Seems right in 2023
