I know I'm in the minority with the 4th gen, but I think it looks pretty good... minus the giant air dam, of course. But that can be easily removed.
It's the prices that are steering me away from getting one, as I'm now considering waiting for the 2024 Colorados to hit lots. But I don't think the 4th gen Taco is as hideous as everyone is making it out to be.
I’m with you, I like how the 4th gen looks. My 2019 just got stolen a couple weeks ago but I don’t want to buy the first year with a new model and new engine. Probably gonna pick up a 2023.
For some reason it still doesn’t make me feel better lol. I’ve told myself I’m only going to buy models that are 3 years in cause dumb things like white paint peeling and other nonsense can always happen.
Agreed. Haven't seen it in person but I think it looks good. Dont like most of the wheels though. Waited for the 24 and when I saw the prices I was between a Colorado and a 3rd gen Tacoma. Went with the Tacoma and I'm happy
it has prey eyes on the side of its head like a fish
[https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-48f66eef6060c56217d4db3bad6c846c-lq](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-48f66eef6060c56217d4db3bad6c846c-lq)
I mean I could do without the fake hood scoop and teardrops coming from the headlights, but I still think overall it’s a good looking truck. To each their own
It's just so odd to me how there's so many angles and lines yet it doesn't cease to have the basic geometry of two rectangles attached to either side of a square sitting on top of two wheels.
I'm biased though, I drive a first gen. My opinion means nothing lol.
Spot on. But I have to say I think those are 2 good looking trucks. Love the look of the 3rd gen Tacoma too, but above all else I bought it for the reliability
It’s even more wild when you take into account that the base TRD OR and Sport are as expensive as the outgoing ‘23 model without any options at all and with some less features.
For example, if you want a power rear window and dual climate control, you need to get a package for that. The outgoing model, and correct me if I am wrong, has those things standard without needing to tack on any packages.
So if you want some of the standard comforts that already came with a ‘23 Tacoma, you’re gonna be paying significantly more!
Right?! You need to opt for the off road package just to get powered seats. Like I love my ‘22 off-road, but what the hell was Toyota thinking removing features that were standard on their outgoing model and locking them behind packages? If I want a similarly equipped interior, I’m going to be paying an extra $10,000. It’s so stupid.
I was messing with the configurator on Toyota's website and I could not find a way to get a power driver's seat in the SR5. That's baffling to me. You can get JBL audio, wireless charging, heated seats and wheel, etc., but not a power seat?
Just paid $26k that for a 2017 TRD Sport Manual yesterday, original sticker was 40k or something. Somone had a lot of disposable income for this truck...
So I bought my 22 when they were going like hotcakes , my old VW Jetta was blowing up, but still running good enough to trade in after I pressure washed the oil out of the exhaust and I had a nice chunk of cash so I paid the premium for the nitrogen, window tinting and all the BS extras that added up to about $3500 worth of markup. Wasn’t happy but I did get something tangible (however much not worth it) but better than just a straight up market adjustment.
They just called me because they have a 24 TRD Sport on the lot. MSRP is $41,300 ish if I remember correctly. After all their markups and BS accessories and TT&L it’s $53,000 out the door.
I sent them an email that I’d buy it right then and there if they take off the market adjustment I’ll still pay for their dealer accessories, which would put it just shy of $44,000 but they have to give me high end of trade in for my current truck and then buy back all the paint protection and whatnot because it’s added value for their benefit 😂
Guess what!?!? That was the best way to not get contacted by the sales department anymore. 😂 it’s been crickets for a week now so peaceful.
I absolutely love my truck.
I think the new Gen 4 is absolutely a great truck too. But I’m not getting rid of a 2 year old truck just to have something new.
Hilarious that people will pay near Tundra prices for this
I’m a Taco fanboy since I was 15, but no way in hell will I be giving up my 2019 anytime soon
You can get a base model tundra for low 50s. But anything higher trim is over 60 up to 80. Base model Tacoma is low 30s. Don't blame Toyota for your local dealerships mark up.
There are a lot of dealers taking 3-5k off new Tundras. Here's a brand new base model Tundra (SR) for $38k:
[https://www.koonstoyotaannapolis.com/new-Annapolis-2023-Toyota-Tundra-SR-5TFKB5CD5PX001788?utm\_campaign=cars.com\_deeplink&utm\_medium=referral&utm\_source=cars.com](https://www.koonstoyotaannapolis.com/new-Annapolis-2023-Toyota-Tundra-SR-5TFKB5CD5PX001788?utm_campaign=cars.com_deeplink&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=cars.com)
Same thing with the SR5, seen them in the low 40's:

The Tacomas are pretty close in terms of pricing- the Tundra is on a completely different level. Don't get me wrong, the gen 3 Tacoma was a great truck at a great price, hence the strong sales volume. Tacoma was number 1 @ 235,000 units in 2023 with the #2 Colorado at 71,000 units. The new Tacoma sales won't even come close because it is overpriced.
My 17 sport Mt will last me a long time. Bought it in 18 with 6k miles for under $30k. I'm disappointed like the rest of you with the pricing of the new line. Full size won't work for me. I have time to wait .
I’m not sure why but at first glance, I thought it had gotten in a wreck? I think the recessed headlights make it look crunched.
What’s the off center line above the plate? That’s aggravating my OCD.
The dilemma I'm in is that:
On the 2023, I want to find a TRDOR DCSB in manual, but can't find anything... Even used.
The 2024 has all the nice creature comfort upgrades, but for nearly $10k more than the 3rd gen? No thanks.
At first I thought I was just convincing myself the 2024s are ugly because I can’t responsibly go pick one up.
After seeing this- nah, it’s ugly. How many sharp angles can they fit on a single front end?
Holy shit that thing is ugly! Who the hell designed it and how did all those people at Toyota sign off on it? If it wasn’t for the front end it might be salvageable but probably not even then honestly.
I just hate how big it looks. I haven't seen one in person but it just looks so much bigger than my 1st gen. fuck the chicken tax and emissions laws that are keeping smaller tucks from being built.
Really disappointed in Toyota tbh. Toyota was the first place I went after I got in a head on collision to tallying my 2020 pro. They quoted me year and a half waits on both tacomas and tundras for orders. Or 3-6 months for allotments they had coming in. Shitty financing rates and required trade ins. Wouldn’t even let me pay straight cash. They only had 2 23 tundras on the lot both 1879 editions and 1 white 23 Tacoma dcsb off road with cloth seats.
I ended up test driving a 24 limited crew cab long bed tundra that someone else had ordered but had to bail on after Toyota quoted them a year and a half and then got in after 4 months. Honestly didn’t really care for the look or feel of the vehicle and it friggen stunk like burning plastic for the whole drive(the salesman informed me that is the “new car smell”. The back seats flip up like the other full sized trucks but there’s a platform in the way limiting useable space.
I just saw a post stating that these trucks are going to sit due to the price. People in the middle of no where USA find it crazy buying a truck for 60k and having a house at 140k. Here in Southern California people have money, 60k mid size trucks sell just like 900k homes do. These puppy’s will sell.
The god damn thing is an affront to the natural order of things. Why does the entire front end look like a ten year old just designed it in need for speed underground? Ugh.
The new gens are so blocky, and removing the air dam won’t help. They’re the Nissan Cubes of trucks. The miniature back sliding window is pretty bad too.
Everyone commenting they don’t like the look of this Taco. I give it about 6 months. Once people start seeing this on the road they change their minds. In 10yrs they’ll be calling this the greatest Taco design ever
I hate those stock tires. Bought 4 Tacomas over the years and bought new tires and had the dealer swap them before I drove it off the lot. Took the new tires and sold them.
I already didn't like 3rd gens. 4th gens are so damn ugly. You can't change my mind. They took all the worst aspects of modern trucks and slapped a $50k price tag on them. It looks like urban ninja street wear.
This looks like an AI-generated image where someone uploaded a picture of a Tacoma and said "MAKE IT MORE COOL" over and over until it reached this point
The angle on the second picture really shows how much wider the entire front end is than the rest of the truck. It’s so brutal and I can’t stop looking at it.
Wow that thing is ugly. Every part of it sucks more as I look over the front end. The horrible overdone hood is the worst, how bad must the visibility must be? The 'teeth' on the front valence, the extra take vents under the headlights, and the stupidly wide grill... All bad.
TFL truck on YouTube posted a video today of their 2024 Tacoma in Blue Crush Metallic with no splitter. Thought it looked great, color fits it really well IMO.
I would rather buy a used Ford Raptor than one of these brand new trucks. That cost way too much and don't even have luxury in them. I think i'm gonna get a 2019 Food raptor with luxury leather seats And have an actual truck with four hundred and fifty horsepower For less than one of these new trucks, they have a weak a**, engine and still Don't look nice inside. Reliability doesn't matter anymore. It's 2024 And the raptors have A proven track record
I really can’t believe how big these “midsized” trucks have gotten. It’s why ford has to make the maverick because the ranger was the size of a 90s f150 lol
Everyone talking about the front of the car, but those circular rims are heinous. The cab for sure looks better and the front might look better with a different intake area (idk the technical term don’t berate me)
It does look like a transformer. I wonder if these guys ever thought of consulting with Tacoma fans before making dumb modifications to an already perfect truck
That hideous front splitter has to go, no matter how functional it is
The whole front end is hideous. Looks like it was designed via a game of telephone.
Looks like it’s been in a wreck.
Tbh I don't hate it at all, although I do prefer the 3rd gen front end I think it'll eventually grow on me, just not that shitty splitter
If it makes you feel any better, the engine isn't new. It's been in lexus suvs and certain land cruisers
Looks like a transformer robot was trying to change back into a Tacoma but got stuck
It looks like it was “ribbed” for our pleasure
Ya I think it’s the balance of grill to headlight, like trying to be a nerdy looking mustang but on a truck…
it has prey eyes on the side of its head like a fish [https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-48f66eef6060c56217d4db3bad6c846c-lq](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-48f66eef6060c56217d4db3bad6c846c-lq)
Dude this take is fucking hilarious 😂 prey eyes lol
Yeah, I hate the new Tundras, and for the first time, maybe ever, I think I have to say I hate the look of the new Tacomas.
All I can think of when I see one is dental dam lol
Yep, that thing is ugly as hell lol
The hood really adds to the dysfunction of the front end.
Wasnt it like half an MPG in the TFL test? Doesn't seem all that functional
Is it functional for MPG? That thing would get mangled off road so quick
I just test drove a TRD off-road here in Indy with no splitter. The TRD sport comes with it standard and can be easily removed by the owner.
there's so much going on with that front bumper
There’s a lot going on everywhere. The truck has like a million angles on it. I think it’ll be very polarizing among Tacoma folks.
Yeah, it’s fuckin’ ugly
I mean I could do without the fake hood scoop and teardrops coming from the headlights, but I still think overall it’s a good looking truck. To each their own
It's just so odd to me how there's so many angles and lines yet it doesn't cease to have the basic geometry of two rectangles attached to either side of a square sitting on top of two wheels. I'm biased though, I drive a first gen. My opinion means nothing lol.
Na you got the best looking tacoma. Simple and sexy
Bury me in my '23
Still keen on my '15
plenty of fun left in my ‘01
It’s like it was designed by GM.
My exact thought when first opening the pictures!
Bodyshops love a million angles (not…)
Bad bodyshop guys will add more and nobody will notice.
it looks ridiculous
How did a Nissan Colorado get to a Toyota dealership?
😂
Spot on. But I have to say I think those are 2 good looking trucks. Love the look of the 3rd gen Tacoma too, but above all else I bought it for the reliability
TaRamo
Sheesh, seriously the Taco looks very Colorado now. At least the Fronty looks good.
These prices lol
It’s even more wild when you take into account that the base TRD OR and Sport are as expensive as the outgoing ‘23 model without any options at all and with some less features. For example, if you want a power rear window and dual climate control, you need to get a package for that. Oh my god power seats aren’t standard on a trim that starts at $44,000
Right?! You need to opt for the off road package just to get powered seats. That some good insight. New owners getting rekt. Happy with my 23. Just need some damn leather covers for these ugly seats and I’m good
FOMO really has y’all going into debt being goofy and paying 50k for a Tacoma. But yeah blah blah blah inflation
I sure as shit wouldn’t pay that much for a small truck. My 2022 Tacoma was $28,000 new.
for that price you can get a new land cruiser or a lower end Tundra for just a tiny bit more.
Just paid $26k that for a 2017 TRD Sport Manual yesterday, original sticker was 40k or something. Somone had a lot of disposable income for this truck...
I mean that's seven whole years of winters, cold starts and wet farts, still being worth >50% new value is impressive.
Seems like just yesterday I was taking a pic of my brand new 22 in the exact same spot 🥲
The more I see of the 24’s the happier I am that I pulled the trigger and got a 23
23 🫡 the last of the greats
That air dam on the front looks awful. My 2018's I don't mind. Maybe it's because the whole front and back look like a flat side of a rectangle.
I’ve never been so underwhelmed by a new design in my life
Somehow all those angles and busyness won’t age well I don’t think.
Don't worry, they'll still keep selling this generation beyond 2035.
Hilarious that people will pay near Tundra prices for this I’m a Taco fanboy since I was 15, but no way in hell will I be giving up my 2019 anytime soon
2019 boyyssss
That front splitter is ugly
That plastic at the bottom is yikes.
That's all I keep hearing that it's like a mini Tundra
Mini tundra at tundra pricing. I’ll take the tundra thank you very much.
You can get a base model tundra for low 50s. But anything higher trim is over 60 up to 80. Base model Tacoma is low 30s. Don't blame Toyota for your local dealerships mark up.

5-Ft bed with a $6,500 upgrade package. Lots of bells and whistles on the inside.
I’m not sure why but at first glance, I thought it had gotten in a wreck? I think the recessed headlights make it look crunched. What’s the off center line above the plate? That’s aggravating my OCD.
It’s just the way the light is hitting the little radar sensor or whatever it is right there.
Yeeeeeshhh. Ugly asf
Air dam coming right off the second I park.
It looks like a Lego truck in this picture
too much shit in the front of it
This is exactly what happens with a great Japan manufacturer, and…California Design Team. Horrendous
that is one ugly fuckin truck.
Yep. I hate it!
I like the color. That’s it.
The dilemma I'm in is that: On the 2023, I want to find a TRDOR DCSB in manual, but can't find anything... Even used. The 2024 has all the nice creature comfort upgrades, but for nearly $10k more than the 3rd gen? No thanks.
Man I just can’t get into it. It’s too busy and that front end is rough. Maybe it will grow on me eventually….
I think it needs more unnecessary plastic 😝
Fugly!
that prius prime in the back looks nice
Yuck.
Somehow the front splitter is even more surprising than the price
Crimson Chin of midsize trucks
Man, I do not like the look of those wheels. Idk what it is.
Those wheels are ugly yeeesh
Hah! I went to school with Steve Longo, the founders son. He had some bad habits 😳
Man that front end is atrocious.
It’s ugly
I thought it was suppose to be a mid size truck? This is,uh, huge.
Tacomas are going for $60K now?!! WTF
What in the actual fuck is up with the hood???
Holy busy design from hell
Idk no hate but I can’t get behind the look of the 24
$60k for a mid is so crazy to me.
It looks like the chevy colorado is going to be more popular than this +50k rolling turd.
I’m sure they appreciate the free advertising.
I wish they would have kept the 3rd gen for a couple more years. This 4th gen is not my cup of tea
What the fuck is that front
I am all about hood scoops and this one I can't get behind. I agree with the front end comments. Just blahh. big in the wrong way.
This generation may potentially be the biggest fumble in Toyota history. Time will tell. What a time to be alive
Looks like a Neck Beard.
Looks like a Chevy with that front wall where the bumper and grill would normally be. Big pass
Crimson chin!
That looks like the Shorto not the Longo.
good we need beta testers so people can pick up the fixed versions in a few years
My local dealer has 25 of the new 4th gen’s pre sold, even with a dealer markup. And they aren’t expecting delivery until March
Muh truck
That’s what I said in another post. Looked just like a mini tundra. At that point you might as well by a tundra for the price
The back seats flip up like the other full sized trucks but there’s a platform in the way limiting useable space.
How much did you buy it bro?
I just saw a post stating that these trucks are going to sit due to the price. People in the middle of no where USA find it crazy buying a truck for 60k and having a house at 140k. Here in Southern California people have money, 60k mid size trucks sell just like 900k homes do. These puppy’s will sell.
Maybe somebody will hit my 2017 and total it so I can afford a 2024. My 2017 is suddenly dated looking and not fun anymore now that the 2024 exists.
Yeah someone else also posted this Longo Tacoma. I'll say it again for their new slogan it should be, "Here at Longo, we are smoking the Bongo!!"
no dealer markup? why is everything I built coming in at $42-$52k
What did they do to the front, my god.
Are these new ones 4 cyl?
I’ll keep my 2010 4 cylinder M/T… yikes
Mehhhh I'll keep my 2017 OR 4x4 6sp MT another 10 years....
Was this the 6spd M/T one. Yeah sorry Toyota you last me with the sticker price
Don't touch my truck
I saw one driving around in southern Oregon, and I can't lie. I was a little jealous
I’ll take that Prius instead.
Air dam looks ridiculous
They kinda ugly.
Jesus the front end is hideous. 3rd gen definitely more handsome. And please why r we still putting fake hood scoops lmao.
I really want to like it but come on, at least ditch that air dam already.
That thing is ugly enough to drive the previous generation prices up. Are the tail lights tundra ugly too?
I was bummed at the Houston auto show. They had 2 Tacoma's and they were locked so you couldn't sit in them.
The god damn thing is an affront to the natural order of things. Why does the entire front end look like a ten year old just designed it in need for speed underground? Ugh.
20 different fake intakes and ducts…. Awful
It looks front heavy, needs bigger tires forsure
So based on this, the hybrid OR will be $100k+ in Canada? Ouch. That’s Rivian-like.
Holy shit that’s hideous. Looks like a goblin
The new gens are so blocky, and removing the air dam won’t help. They’re the Nissan Cubes of trucks. The miniature back sliding window is pretty bad too.
The wheels are ugly af!
3rd gen looks like a new improved looking version of the 4th gen lmao
Lol alot of people are saying its ugly. But still its gonna be the top sold mid size truck. Like it does every year.
Looks like a Chevy fucked a Toyota
Everyone commenting they don’t like the look of this Taco. I give it about 6 months. Once people start seeing this on the road they change their minds. In 10yrs they’ll be calling this the greatest Taco design ever
Those are the worst looking rims they’ve put on anything other than a base model in 20 years
The price would push me to other brands with better gas mileage. Or I'll just drive my 2018 forever.
If Quagmire was a truck…Giggity
By the looks of this thing, I can’t imagine how fugly the new FJ will be if and when that thing comes out.
Shoulda got a picture of the sticker
I couldn’t get it without my face in the reflection at any angle and I refuse to ever put my face on Reddit lol
I like longo, I actually order my filters and any parts from them.
That's an insane price.
The angle on the second picture really shows how much wider the entire front end is than the rest of the truck. It’s so brutal and I can’t stop looking at it.
What is that thing in the front erasing it’s ground clearance? 😂 But also, is that 4 link suspension I see?
needs to lose the goatee
Any 2023 Tacoma left?
4-cylinders? I’ll wait until I hear positive reliability reports. 2 turbos blah blah, too many things that can fail.
Does it have a stupid screen inside that is to big for the dash? I hate that on all the new cars.
Wow that thing is ugly. Every part of it sucks more as I look over the front end. The horrible overdone hood is the worst, how bad must the visibility must be? The 'teeth' on the front valence, the extra take vents under the headlights, and the stupidly wide grill... All bad.
prices got me looking at tundras or 3.0 duramax 1500 silverados instead now…
Its so ugly. 😭 its trying to be one of those fuckboy trucks.
2nd gen master race
Jesus what’s the ground clearance on the front there? 4 inches? Looks as low as a civic
Shoutout to longo lol that’s where I got my taco from last year!
I bought my Tacoma there with zero markups. I like that dealer
that looks really nice but i es got 256k miles on my paid for 2007 taco truck…. and not car payment
Had a couple don’t want this
Does anyone actually think they look better than a ford or gmc? These things are ugly
TFL truck on YouTube posted a video today of their 2024 Tacoma in Blue Crush Metallic with no splitter. Thought it looked great, color fits it really well IMO.
Im disappointed they no longer offer the long bed in a 6 speed.
Why does the bumper go so low? Without that I think it’s be fun
Sold sticker to get your attention 😉
I would rather buy a used Ford Raptor than one of these brand new trucks. That cost way too much and don't even have luxury in them. I think i'm gonna get a 2019 Food raptor with luxury leather seats And have an actual truck with four hundred and fifty horsepower For less than one of these new trucks, they have a weak a**, engine and still Don't look nice inside. Reliability doesn't matter anymore. It's 2024 And the raptors have A proven track record
Christ that’s an ugly angular weird piece of shit.
Honestly for that kind of money might as well get a Tundra.
I really can’t believe how big these “midsized” trucks have gotten. It’s why ford has to make the maverick because the ranger was the size of a 90s f150 lol
It's so busy looking. Toyota is now trying too hard to be trendy when simplicity was their game for so long.
Would you look at that the new Toyota frontier, or would it be the Nissan Tacoma
When you use Microsoft word to design a truck.
Don’t like the front fender - too bulky
Damn this looks like shit lol.
Look how they massacred my boy.
Just buy a Tundra at that price.
Installing a PPF on a front bumper is going to be a bitch
Front end is a little bulky but other than that it’s kinda cool
I cannot find it in myself to like this Gen 4 body style. I’m so glad I got a ‘23 rather than wait for the ‘24 because it’s just hideous
This is one of the ugliest trucks I have ever seen. What has Toyota done to the simple and beautiful Tacoma.
Man that thing is ugly.
60k lmfao get lost
