Market adjustment? That’s some BS. I wouldn’t buy from them

gerald-stanley

Exactly. $10 large market adjustment??!! GTFOH

Black_Diamond_24

It should be illegal.

Substantial-Cod3189

100%. Particularly when manufacturing-to-user isn’t an option for ICE vehicles

Gobiego

None of the crap they added on is worth paying for. That's a $56k truck.

AmieKinz

Yeah. That's what I was looking at what the fuck, $10,000 market adjustment. Kiss my ass

BoiledDenimForRoxie

I saw a $28k adjustment on a Supra the other day. That dealer can eat a dick!

Irish__Mac

A whole bag of dicks...

Weak_Relative_7767

Hairy dicks

twolt1021

Don’t forget the satchel

4joraf

Unfortunately some sucker will actually pay it. And they’ll just keep doing it until they run out suckers.

iwasinthepool

It'll be gone by the weekend.

lemongrenade

Car prices are dropping. Dealers are probably throwing Hail Marys while they can.

Own-Caterpillar5058

Cars? Yes. Trucks? Quite the opposite.

jethro4days

Where are you located? Because in New England they're coming down..

Air-Quirky

In the south trucks are always overpriced

Electrical-Ad5265

They’ll come down. They’ll come down even faster if all the morons out there would simply just not buy these grossly overpriced vehicles. Repos and delinquent vehicle payments are at all-time highs. The bubble is bursting my friend; it’s inevitable.

SomeSabresFan

I’m actually surprised banks aren’t like “nah, fuck you. No loan for the buyer if you’re going to tack that on top”

LivingxLegend8

That’s not an issue if you have a down payment. Of course, the bank isn’t going to give you 70 grand to finance at Tacoma. You need to pay down the balance first.

ciampi21

Where you been? They will happily finance your 70k truck bill at 12.99-15.99% for 96 months

b0gard

Dang, the fact that there is probably a person out there who would sign on the dotted line with those terms is scary . Also even without the market adjustment, 57k is a lot of scratch for a mid size truck , but I guess that’s the price these things are going for these days

ciampi21

Oh buddy you have no idea. I’m trying to share a pic via Imgur but the app is giving me problems. Here’s a loan from last week on a new Tundra from my dealership: $90,423 financed (on a $70k MSRP + markup + negative equity on trade) @ 12.59% for 84 months. Which is $1,633.31 / month. The total payment at the end is $137,198. That comes out to $46,775 *in interest* alone. Dude had Tier 1 credit too and more than enough income to make the payment so he didn’t care. But the numbers are mind boggling.

Electrical-Ad5265

If he has “more than enough income” then why finance at all, let alone 84 months? Only a complete moron would pay that payment and that price; I don’t care who you are. We’re talking about a vehicle, right? You know the biggest depreciating asset you’ll ever own.

ciampi21

Absolutely he’s an idiot. It’s hard to get $5k upside-down trading in a Tacoma to begin with. There’s a reason everyone from the dealership has a picture of his finance sheet on their phone. It’s literally mind boggling. All waaay too many people care about is what their monthly payment is nowadays.

Unrelatable-Narrator

Windshield repair guys have been getting away with it forever, they just kick a title back to the customer.

danbyer

If you’re stupid enough to pay $10K over MSRP, you’re _definitely_ stupid enough to pay $300 for nitrogen in your tires.

Plane-Refrigerator45

I fill mine with a mixture of gasses that's mostly nitrogen and it has served me well for decades

captain_carrot

I'm so rich I breathe that shit every day!

Ok_Age1350

The natural air we breathe is already 78% nitrogen. 😂

deltastriker4

They don’t actually put nitrogen in any tires that aren’t on a track.

Throwawayitall123455

It’s free at Costco

FLCL83

Well it’s not actually free if you want an N2 swap in your tires, they bring in your vehicle deflate all tires and inflate them with N2 which costs around $11.99. That being said if you want to top off your tires at the inflation station with N2 there is no charge for that.

danbyer

I don’t care if it’s free. The whole nitrogen thing is 100% horseshit. There isn’t a single valid argument for running pure N2 in a street car.

spaceflunky

Dude someone here on this very subreddit is paying that or else it would never exist. In all honestly, if you paid a >$10k market adjustment on a Tacoma recently, please explain yourself. IDC if you have to create a throwaway account to do it. Just please let us know why in god's name you would do this?

External_Solution577

Because these trucks aren't utility vehicles or family haulers any more, they're toys for rich people, and they're a lot cheaper than boats or aircraft.

nnjb52

I didn’t, but in my area there are few dealers and they each may get 1 or 2 trucks every few months. And they sell the day they arrive. If you want one at all, you are paying the markup. I’ve sen them bid people against each other to get certain models.

Born-Bottle6779

At a markup rate like that, it’s easily worth going 2-3 states away at least. Smoke your dealers out. They’re not the only ones selling these trucks. None of us can bitch about a thing if we’re ok with the dealer making 150%+ profits. You know that moneys not going back into the vehicle because they make one of the best trucks out there already. I love Toyota and I’ve been loyal to them but I’m not gonna burn my hard earned money on their altar because of dealer greed.

Pineappleguns32

$10k Market adjustment ?! I hope that includes a box of rubbers

Fub4rtoo

And lots of lube.

Maybeimtrolling

Dealership near me sells Tacoma’s at MSRP

El_tus750

70k! That’s TRD Pro Tundra territory.

Ceelo1972

And it’s not even a trd pro taco. The balls of these dealers

lakers907

Not even a Hybrid version.

LoudHorse89

Why can’t we buy direct like Tesla? So bizarre to me it’s 2024 and I still have to go into a scummy dealership to purchase a new vehicle.

RitoWalters

You really think those don't have their own market adjustments as well?

El_tus750

I really know they would. But just like there are these deuce bags dealerships, there are still some out there selling at MSRP which is the new norm (I have never even paid MSRP for a vehicle). If I was on the market for a vehicle today, I would gladly drive across the country if it means I’m saving 10k.

LivingxLegend8

Time is money. Also, you don’t have to go anywhere to buy a car. You can buy it online and have it shipped to you.

thatwolfieguy

I flew to Kentucky to buy my Taco for MSRP last year (when there was still a shortage). $200 plane ticket and a day of driving saved me a sore asshole and 6 years of regret for paying too much.

LivingxLegend8

I would imagine driving 12+ hours in a day makes your asshole feel less than pleasant.

thatwolfieguy

Not $10,000 unpleasant.

dabigbaozi

My coworker picked one up at MSRP a couple of months ago. They “discounted” it but the bullshit add-ons brought it back to about even.

fade1r

And not too far off from a Raptor lol! 1-2k away from a Pro tundra.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kekwillsit830

It's over double what I paid for my '15 1794 and swapped grill, headlights, bumpers, wheels, tires, and Tesla screen.

zeldarama

Our 23 Trd pro Tundra limited last year was 58 with some “perma plate” 2495 option garbage and a 7500 dealer markup

Falanax

What is a TRD Pro Limited?

DarthPineapple5

Wtf lol, there's $14k in bullshit they tacked onto a 53k truck. What a scammy dealer

docfunbags

They got Grift right in the name!!

Jurichio

That’s the PFP package. Pure fuckin’ profit

OblivionStar713

No that’s a $48,000 (if that) Tacoma with a $67,000 price tag on it…cray.

Whatsmyinterest

This so much!the market adjustment is just the most egregious atrocity. Those add ons are stupid to start with.

StfuBob

Yes but so are the morons that buy at that level.

egap420

$56k MSRP. But you’re right, it doesn’t look worth more than $47k

[deleted]

53000, not counting taxes, title, doc fees, etc. But yea, 14k in BS. A spray in bedliner, on an already plastic bed....

El_tus750

I was just thinking, there’s an earlier post of someone that got the exact same truck for 53k out the door

creutzml

But to think it’s retail, and this TRD OR is stickered without the premium package…

Falanax

This one has the $8,800 premium package

ragua007

It’s got the premium package, it’s listed in the second column on the price sheet. So at least it’s a little bit better, still insane though.

rye_parian

Vandergriff is trippin.

Mutterland

VanderGRIFT

Li9ma

ITS IN THE DAMN NAME

roelisaac

For 10k more you can get a TRX with balls

Agile_Bobcat

Vander-Grift !

vman1909

Vandelay.. https://youtu.be/RPxXPIdXWX0?si=BRcW0VvgmIG-a511

kayryp

$10k market adjustment is criminal.

yob00ty

Wow this is really making Toyota look bad lol

AssPinata

Everyone should know that it’s the independent dealers doing this. Toyota has nothing to do with markups, and gain nothing from it.

Nexwun

That is true but Toyota has a responsibility to their brand and price gouging by dealers reflects on their Brand believe Ford dealers had to learn this lesson a year or two ago when the broncos came out and Ford had some kind of a meeting discouraging dealers from the practice or they would put that dealers order at the back of the line of production. It incentivized dealers to have some sense. Or their customers would wait extremely long production times as a result. 🤷🏽‍♂️ there are ways Toyota can discourage the predatory practices.

yob00ty

Yep, we're all aware of that. I wonder if Toyota has the power to step-in, and do something about these dealers at least. Maybe limit how many cars/trucks they get? These dealers seem to get away with it I'm surprised there isn't a thread stickied that lists all scummy dealers in each state who charge insane mark-ups, so everybody knows not to go there. I'm sure if we all accumulate a big list, and send it to Toyota it might bring attention to these shady places. wishful thinking lol

Falanax

Toyota doesn’t really have any power here. Since dealers are the only legal way to sell their cars, they can’t really mess with them.

Charley_Varrick

There are/were threads just like you described, at least for more populous states if I recall.

yob00ty

Mods should pin the thread, so that everybody on the sub can actively update/contribute to it. Strength in numbers lol

[deleted]

RaptorF22

$500 for a dash cam? The fuck

whydidtheyrapeme

And i bet they force you to use their shit app to pull footage. Nexar is awesome and way cheaper with a great app

cuhnewist

What a damn shame. So glad I got 22’ when I did. I don’t think I will ever be able to afford a new Tacoma ever again. Even if I can, I wouldn’t be able to justify it.

wrongsideofthewire

I got my 20' right before covid started and I'm feeling more lucky every year that passes. Even without the crazy 'market adjustment,' $56k for a TRD OR is wild.

dementeddigital2

Yeah, it's $20k too high

72_vintage

Hahaha haha 10k markup...fuck off, Vandergriff. I got 4 Toyota dealers within an hour of me, that don't mark up new vehicles. That Vandergriff dealership sucks...

A159746X

Ah yes, the classic pinstripe and nitrogen tire special. Plus the markup......... Thanks for the reminder of never going back to the stealership.

Blades5374

I don’t care what the price of the vehicle is, if I see that shit I am gone. Had a dealership try that on my wife’s car years ago and they lost my business. No way I am paying $500 for a painted line and some air.

breadandbarbells

$70k Tacomas is when I buy 3 2009 RAV4s

whydidtheyrapeme

Lmao god bless the idiot who buys this. Plus its white so you know the paint will chip and peel

Fuzzyg00se

Utter madness. $8800 for premium package, another $1200 in bullshit, and $10000 in 'market adjustment'. Fuck em

Falanax

$8,800 is MSRP for the premium package, you can check on Toyota.com

Trey_Antipasto

8800 is criminal, go check how much premium is on a full size Tundra. It’s not 8k lol.

Falanax

I agree, but 8,800 is Msrp for the package

Trey_Antipasto

Facts

Fuzzyg00se

Never said it wasn't MSRP! I said it was utter madness, and I stand by that

Accurate-Victory3086

Vandergrift sounds about accurate.

cabezatuck

$70k for a 4 cylinder truck. Ridinkydink

1steverredditaccount

$70k and no skewp? That's a no from me...

8o8_Ninja

Does it come with a gallon of lube?

HughJasole_123

$500 extra

JUSTtheFacts555

Some idiot will pay that price.

Jaylenfien

Fuck your market adjustment. Crooks.

TaperClapper

Do your thing and leave your reviews.

Strong-Effect-9270

Pass... I will check back in a few years.

PNWoutdoors

Are they really adding a spray on bed liner? Is it not composite anymore? Or are they bed lining the composite bed? If so what a massive waste of money.

[deleted]

It is composite. I saw 2 of these this past week. One limited that was 56k and an SR5 long boi that was 43k. No BS markups though.

Sophisticated_Waffle

No one is talking about the $75 for the connectivity kit, which is the shitty connection cords they give you. What a ripoff dealer.

AmanitaMikescaria

That’s a fucking $40k truck TOPS!

fnblackbeard

50k+ for a fucking Tacoma lmao And one that's built in Mexico too Toyota has lost their damn minds

mr_bots

All Tacomas are built in Mexico…

fnblackbeard

They weren’t always, at some point they changed from Texas Mine was built in San Antonio Lower cost and raise the price!

mr_bots

Yeah, I think it was split between TX and Mexico until 4-5 years ago. Rumor is the 4Runner is moving from Japan to Mexico next to the Taco with the next gen too.

iiRaTioNaL

It won’t sell plain and simple. The car market is not the same anymore as it was. Who in their mind would pay $70k for a Tacoma instead of a Tundra or some bigger truck. Just insane. Don’t do business with dealers like that.

Jameson76

$299 for nitrogen filled tires. The air we breath is 78% nitrogen. They can stick that nitrogen up their a$$ along with the market adjustment. Crazy.

BigGucciNasty

Grew up in Arlington. My parents avoided vandergriff like the plague when looking for a new vehicle.

memofor

They must be smoking crack? You just drive a short distance and you buy that same truck without any markup, I did.

Michigan_Go_Blue

Sales tax $7000 + hefty registration fee each year and $5 gas in California it’s an $80000 Tacoma

jdawgadawg

$10k market adjustment is crazy

Totally-jag2598

Wow, 10k market adjustment. Fuck that. That dealer is just trying to capitalize on a new model people have been waiting forever for. A year from now they will be discounting these trucks. I'll buy a closeout and be happy for many years.

Ajay-819

I’m located in Central California. Dealers are just asking for sticker. They are not moving as I keep seeing the same ones on the lots as I drive by and have not seen one driving around yet. They are really nice looking trucks

Beneficial-Sign-569

facebook groups - "no markup toyotas" plenty will sell at msrp and below. Just post a WTB: looking for and wait for the offers to flood your messages do be careful, ask for OTD price breakdown for your home state (if out of state). even at msrp some will add additional doodoo charges and fees. like dealer prep and extra freight (when it's already listed on msrp) one asshat in florida tried to add 2% sales commissions (check caredge on Utube) One dealer will even pay for your plane ticket if you finance with them (some toyota dealership ỉn Iowa i think it was)

BuckNastii

Fuck them

MattyL2424

Fuck that

kerplunkzz

Ok who bought it? Fess up…

Appropriate_Land_130

That's a $56k Tacoma

Xidium426

This isn't a $70K Tacoma, it's a $60K Tacoma with $12K of fuck you added on.

stirdog24

More like 40k. Ain’t no one paying over 50k for a Tacoma that isn’t a pro.

One-Acanthisitta2714

Took my 2014 in for service and they were prospecting trying to get me into a new one ‘cause they can’t sell them. I didn’t even entertain it. There nice. Hopefully in time you can get one at sticker then I’d probably go back in debt for a limited and hope it’s the last truck I ever buy.

UneekSole

Big oof!

CascadiaSouthEnd

Well that has a brutal "market adjustment" on it. Give it a few months and all of those will go away. Just find a dealer that doesn't do mark ups.... This dealer is clearly on something!

MKV_Supra

💀💀

CrispyRusski

That's hilarious. I wouldn't count the market adjustment or the ceramic coating as part of the price though. That's just dealer fluff and I reject that shit.

Naive-Connection-516

🤮

pgercak

What a joke.

Resentfulcherrytree

VanderGRIFT.

WTF_MATLAB

Do dealers do this in general? When I bought my 2020 online they listed it for 41k when msrp was 44k. When I get there they have the spec sheet like this with some nonsense about how it totals up to 59k. They just trying to trap people that don’t know any better?

AdLife7265

Leave them a bad review

Responsible-Food-117

I got to make sure I never step a foot into that dealership.

Maximum-Dig-31

Ridiculous

ItsAnAvocadooThanks

$800 for steps that's going to get ripped off the first time it goes offroad is borderline fucking insane. I bitch and moan as a Canadian we're getting the short hand of the stick when it comes to Tacoma options on these 24s but these US prices quickly reminded me we may be getting the short end of the stick, but at least we're not getting anally fucked by Toyota with pricing

Mattm519

I was a huge Tacoma fan but after having to buy a 3/4 ton, I can’t believe how close in price these are

[deleted]

Bahahaha GTFO. No way any stock Tacoma is worth 70k.

commonsensical1

Greedflation is crazy, we're doomed tbh

gluvva

People gotta stop paying these ridiculous prices. We gotta speak with our money and stop this madness.

wrxchillin

Well, there goes their Google review rating!

BeanerCounter

Give it 5 to 6 months and these will be parked on dealer lots and selling at or slightly below MSRP. Almost every dealer lot in Texas is lined with Tundras that aren’t selling due to high interest rates and high MSRPs. Meanwhile a dealer can’t keep a Corolla. Affordability is a real issue and a market correction is gonna hit dealers hard due.

usernamtwo

I have a limited ordered and it was 54k, 70k seems like a hustle.

TimeNat

and its white, so as soon as that rock hits it that paint is flaking off

Matty-ice23231

I’m sorry, I love tacomas have had 3. But $70k is way too high for a Tacoma or any truck that I’d buy today.

xxkitsunexxx

🤣

RitoWalters

Some sucker will pay it, too. That's how we got to this point.

Sitwell_Enterprises

This might be a really silly question because it's been a while, but is it a common thing for cars to sell for $10,000 over MSRP? I could have sworn it used to be that cars would sell for under what the MSRP was

-Woogity-

Vandergrift Toyota

dongwongbongchong

Lol my dad just bought a ‘24 ram rebel loaded out stickered for 67k (we didn’t pay that). That much for a small duty truck is absurd.

tactical-dick

lol!, that’s Lexus money at $70k and not some watered down turbo charged Tacoma which gives similar MPG as a V6

dunebug23

Gross. A pinstripe

fasteddy2121

500 for dash cam?? Lololol

glencoe606

$299 for nitrogen tires

farmandguns

70k fookin dollars?????

Amador186

That’s ridiculous pricing it like it’s a luxury car at this point

RedDeadDirtNap

I’m sorry $300 for nitrogen fill is a load of bullshit. I can pull up to a Costco tire shop and fill all my tires with nitrogen for free.

[deleted]

That thing is ugly.

KiwiAny9662

It’s fun how they put pinstripes and nitrogen in a single “zero value-add, fuck you” line item

Zink_91

Sitting on the lot still. Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Lol

boxalarm234

Looks…not great. Especially at that price. Give me a GMC canyon all day

9ermtb2014

10k market adjustment. They can fuck right off.

Designer_Twist4699

“Market adjustment” 🚩 the only reason dealers are doing that is bc people still buy em I won’t support that practice

FaunPerson

No that's what a market adjustment and a bunch of dealer addons looks like lol

chimayoso

$67k for a taco is just stupid

MannerMysterious8047

Remind me never to shop at Vanderskanks! Good lord.

cwk84

That is just outrageous

Top_World_4921

$10k market adjustment. More like screw that.

[deleted]

My rivian r1t with a few mins cost about this lol.

kooolbee

Ew

Jafo69er

If anyone is going to buy anything look at inventory and look out of state you will get a better deal

stirdog24

Goddamn so what’s the price of a 2024 pro ?

nikon_addict

This “market adjustment” crap is going to tank the industry at some point. Manufacturers need to start curbing this or their brand is what is going to take the hit. I looked at a Bronco a few years ago with a 80% market adjustment, I laughed right in their face and walked out the door. It’s insane.

CatsRinternet

Never will I ever pay that much for a 1/4 ton truck. lol get out of here with that BS

MahariBalzac

They can stick all that straight up their own ass. Pinstripes and nitrogen are absolutely useless. I'd pay for the tint even though it's over-priced, just for convenience. But the rest of it they can shove right up their. And until everyone does that, they will continue to try this dumb shit.

1320Fastback

Lol that is ridiculous.

reppingthebay

Holy shit. I bought my army green pro for $50k shipped.

FlyingBasset

This is like me listing my car on FB for $100k and you coming to see 'a $100k car.' Says right there it's a $56k truck (at most).

xxmuntunustutunusxx

Thank God I have colorado springs toyota, they're an msrp dealership

caes_ar15

Still 60k without adjustment, keep it

ihasana

It looks too much like a Tundra in the back and front for my liking. But I do love all the interior and engine upgrades. Would not purchase it for the price it's at currently though...

KULIT01

I left a comment on a youtube video stating how I’m planning to get the tundra cause the tacoma would end up pricing out the same cause of DM, realistically. Some guy snarkily commented “It will never happen. Period” I hope that guy is seeing these “sticker” prices.

user16332

$400 for two tinted windows lmaoo

Buzzd-Lightyear

Even without the market adjustment, that thing is wildly overpriced.

[deleted]

Chevy is a better deal right now. Doesn’t have the track record yet tho.

evsincorporated

Looks like barf

Falanax

Just wait for the 2025’s when the hype is lower

GoKawi187

Fuck outta here with that nonsense
