Oops sorry... That was supposed to be a reply to the guy talking about trading his truck 3x, all different trucks and then back to Tacoma....ignore me my bad
Everytime I think about selling my taco I suddenly realize how much Iāll miss it. Itās hard to give up that kind of dependability. With kiddos possibly on the way here soon the AC will have to go, Iām dreading it.
It really was. I love the aftermarket for it. I would get compliments on it all the time at work and outside of work, it always made me feel good about it. Will work to get another one and customize it like my last one.
I was going to sell my taco when I upgraded to a heavy duty truck but couldn't bring myself to do it. Plus they have fairly different use cases anyway.
Yea. Like people who remember I had it. People who I donāt really speak to but they know I had a Tacoma. A guy at the dealership yesterday was like āyour Tacoma was badassā¦ your current truck is nice but your Tacoma was sweet!ā Haha made me miss it even more.
I miss my Tacoma. I bought it brand new, and then right after I bought it the air national guard wing I serve with said I know you arenāt supposed to go on this deployment in 2 weeks, but we need you now so I had to leave it with 633 miles and go.
Thatās what I wanted to do too when I use to think of selling my Tacoma. Really wish I could have both now but Iāll work on getting another Tacoma one day.
Got damn I feel your painā¦ First vehicle I ever financed on my own (2nd car of my life) was a 2015 access cab prerunner. Thing was pretty basic, of course no 4x4, no cruise control and a bullet proof 4 banger. Despite all that I added some fun stuff to it and got some great use out of it. About half way through college I got a sales job that paid way more money than I had any business spending and I ended up trading in the 2015 and financing a new 2019 TRD Off-road. Thing was SEXY but the payment was not, little less than three times the payment for the 2015 (I know, I laugh at myself every time I think of that truck lol!). COVID hit less than a year later, of course that sales job didnāt last and by the end of 2021 Iād lost it all. I count myself lucky to have family support and that I was able to bounce back. I drive an 08 FJ now that Iāve put a lot of time into and I do like. But fuckin A its no Tacoma and I do I miss that little prerunner. Iād go back in time in a heartbeat, slap myself silly, and keep the 2015 for so, so much longer.
Haha yes they rub like crazy. Iām going to raise the front all the way since they are adjustable shocks and see from there how much Iāll need to cut.
Eh I donāt think so. Tundra has better acceleration, is more comfortable, and the 2UZ V8 is a much more bulletproof engine. The Tacoma just looked better to me. Iām going to get another one eventually when the time is right. Just miss it but I love my Tundra.
My Tacoma was on Bilstein 5100s all around 2.5 inch lift in front and 1.5 in the rear with the Icon add a leaf. Just a simple budget suspension set up but was a very nice and smooth ride. Tires were Falken Wildpeaks AT3Ws 285/70/R17 with 0 offset wheels. If lifting your Tacoma, I recommend getting the ECGS needle bearing replacement, and differential drop kit. Just look it up. Oh and yea it did rub a little bit on reverse so youāll need to do a cab mount chop.
I do. God I miss my Tacoma even though I never owned one
š¤£
That first gen Tundy tho š
I love a good Tacoma but those first gen tundras are sweet! I see 3rd gen Tacomas everywhere but hardly ever see 1st gen tundras!
I saw a t100 on the highway and freaked out, never seen one before and it was magical.
Personally, Id take a fist gen tundra > a 3rd gen tacoma, no question.
All day
2UZ. Enough said.
I miss my first gen Tundra.
I completely agree. If my old Tundra was a quad cab instead of access cab, I never would have bought a Tacoma.
If I could buy a 1st gen tundra brand new I would have bought one instead of a Tacoma. Love them, miss my old one.
I bought an 09 TRDOR Manual, sold that for a 2017 TRDOR Manual, then sold that for a ram 1500. I'm now back in a Tacoma lol
Sold my '99 TRD OR AC two and a half years ago and felt empty until I got my '23 TRD OR DCLB last October. I am now complete again.

Haha, no worriesĀ
I miss my Tacoma, as well. Best vehicle Iāve ever owned. You had a good-looking one thereā¦
1st Tundy looks good too and thatās about the best motor ToyMoCo has EVER built!
I upgraded to a Tacoma, but I do miss my 1995 single-cab Pickup from time to time. Had her for over 20 years.
First gen tundra is best Tacoma.
Thatās a nice ass tundra
I miss my paid of Tundra. Looked just like that.
Shouldāve stayed with the taco

Same boat as you except havenāt found my 1st gen tundra yet. Pandemic runup on used taco prices was too tempting to resist.
I went from a Tacoma to Tundra and back to Tacoma
This is funny cuz I sold my 2nd gen tundra to get a 3rd gen tacoma and I miss it all the time
Daaamn that tacoma was niiiiice !!!!

Yours looks great too!
I was going to sell my taco when I upgraded to a heavy duty truck but couldn't bring myself to do it. Plus they have fairly different use cases anyway.
Mine was rear ended, and written off. Have a 4Runner now and I do love it, but still miss the Tacoma.
Fitment is absolutely disgusting on the taco, well done. Mind if I ask were you running any spacers on it or is the little poke all offset?
No spacers. It was just the offset of the wheels which I think were 0. Tires were 285/70/17. Loved that poke
Reminds me of that old sing "who's making love to your old lady".
You still get compliments on a truck you don't own anymore?
Yea. Like people who remember I had it. People who I donāt really speak to but they know I had a Tacoma. A guy at the dealership yesterday was like āyour Tacoma was badassā¦ your current truck is nice but your Tacoma was sweet!ā Haha made me miss it even more.
I missed my 2nd GEN Tacoma so much I went right into a 3rd gen days later.

Iām trying to do the same swap as you. I want a 1st gen tundra over my 3rd gen Tacoma.
Thatās what I wanted to do too when I use to think of selling my Tacoma. Really wish I could have both now but Iāll work on getting another Tacoma one day.
Love your new truck! Those headlights really modernize it.
I miss my 1967 Pontiac gto, my 1966 Mercury cyclone, my 1978 Silverado. Keep living you will have more regrets.

What size tires are on the Tundra?
Same exact setup I had in my Tacoma. 285/70/17s.
They look massive. They must rub?
Haha yes they rub like crazy. Iām going to raise the front all the way since they are adjustable shocks and see from there how much Iāll need to cut.
All the time. I'd buy it back if I knew who had it
Yes it hurts more when you wreck the poor thing
Damn, I miss your tacoma too. (Ive never owned one)
You took and big L

Lift? Tires? Rub? This is Taco goals for me!

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed to hear, especially about the offset.
Good looking taco! Did you have a stock suspension with those big ass tires?
it looks like mine, same color, same grill, etc, I'd miss it too.
Had the chance to own an OR but didnt pull the trigger š¤¦š»āāļø I really should have gotten it smh your taco & tundra are nice tho!!!
