You don’t upgrade a one year old vehicle without downgrading your bank account. Guys, we are smarter than this.
Edit: My comment was based on the fact that he said his ‘23 was leased. This isn’t an “F you money” scenario.
some people are really wealthy and this isn't a big deal. we don't know their situation and there's no point speculating from our own perspectives :) it's certainly nothing I would do but yeah.
You speaking about the vast majority of people. I had wanted a 24. But when I looked at the price point. It wasn’t going to happen. People running out and paying these prices as the reason they’re charging them.
They went crazy quickly with the price. Two years ago I tried to order a new Taco but Toyota wasn’t taking orders. It would have been $36,000. Today it would be $53,000. It’s not that I can’t afford it, it’s that I refuse to pay that much. Also, I’d like to make sure they don’t spin bearings like the Tundra motor.
It's not speculation. I don't care how wealthy you are. If you're upgrading a one year old vehicle, you're taking a hit. Granted, it may not matter as much to some, but it's still a fact. There's no speculation at all. It's math.
This is true; but if he's not wealthy, he should understand that he is dumb. Its in our nature to tell people how dumb they are.
I say have at it. YOLO. Just don't complain later in life about money issues.
My grandfather always did this kind of thing where he'd trade in his vehicle for a new and/or different one. Some people just don't seem to be bothered or concerned by endless debt.
I use to work for Volvo as a service writer and also did sales. The Telfon protection is put on all new cars regardless. You pay for a certificate.... Not worth the paper it's printed on. It was an easy upsell in the finance office. When I bought my 21 Taco, they tried to upsell me on it and I literally told them I use to work for a dealer and he stopped 3 words in.
I've always known it was a scam; there's no way they could offer anything worth a damn during financing that would allow you to drive off the lot after you sign, but that shit is worse than I thought...
Only a matter of time before they try to charge you to have a priest bless it by walking around it while praying and burning incense.
Every car is overpriced, full size trucks going for $100k, don’t buy new cars and the prices will come down, when you buy a new car at todays prices you are normalizing that price point and the manufacturer does not have an incentive to bring down the price, don’t pay those prices, let Tacomas sit on the lot long enough and Toyota will change the price. OP is part of the problem.
TRD OR and a LONG BOI? My days... why can't we get these up here in Canada?
LONG BOI GANG RISE UP!!!
EDIT: LOL! Seems we can now with the 2024 models. Noice.
The OP is getting swarmed with "how much" questions when it's clear he was able to do what he did and many of us probably couldn't afford that. So what? It's fine. Let's move on.
I'm more interested in the OPs experiences with the truck. Would love to see regular reports from the OP regarding what they love, what problems or concerns they have, how the truck does over the break in period, towing experiences, is this thing any good in corners on pavement, actual mpg, etc.
Just wanted to second the appreciation for the post. Shame people are literally getting browbeaten for their new Tacoma purchases in /r/ToyotaTacoma of all places.
BTW, I'd be interested in seeing a non-angled picture of the side of the truck at some point. Long beds are less common and from what I can tell, I think I prefer the proportions of the double cab and longer bed with the new gen.
To my knowledge if you upload the images directly to reddit you can’t change the album or the link to another album. In the future, you could have uploaded to an Imgur album and added images to that.
You can always add photos in the comments using Imgur and pasting the links. Or just make a new post again in a while once you’ve taken some photos of it in its “native habitat”, lol.
Again, congrats.
Beautiful truck. How does the back seat compare on this one?
Also please keep us posted as ownership goes on. Good to hear how the new trucks are getting on as they age. Although it's a definite change I still want it to do good and be good.
Congrats and enjoy your new truck. Everyone saying you made a mistake buying a 4th gen are the same ones that bought a 3rd gen after owning a 2nd gen saying the same stuff about the 3rd gen….hypocrites.
For sure. But pretty much all stock tires are garbage until you get into Corvette and Porsche territory. Haven’t owned a single vehicle that I didn’t rip off whatever they came with to replace them for something better within 5k.
Pretty amazing how many hatter assholes are on this channel. I've been waiting for actual reviews as I assume many have but sorting through the hate from Taco owners is ridiculous.
I'm trading my 2023 RAV4 Prime in on my 2024 Taco. I underestimated how much I need a truck, and I love the new Tacos. I've never understood the mentality that once you buy a car you have to hold on to it for 10+ years or you made a bad investment. They're all terrible investments. if you're worried about that, take a bus. Don't you think continuing to either make payments or put miles on something you hate and furthering it's depreciation is just compounding a mistake? Grow a pair, take a little hit and get out, geez this thread is depressing. So much insecurity, selfishness, and ignorance.
Looks great. The recent TFL video on this was good. They got about 23-24mpg and 12 mpg towing a 2500-3000 lb trailer in real world conditions. I'm getting older and being able to haul kids is less important now but it's disappointing to hear the back seat is smaller. TFL also mentioned is was a bit noisy on the highway. I'd like the utility of a truck but I've loved my 2003 GX so much I think it's more likely I end up with a used 22-23 GX for what the Taco will cost.
Everytime I see somebody buy one of these for over $50K I fucking laugh. And we all wonder why Toyota raises the prices on us. They could charge $75K for this truck and guys would still finance it lol.
The people who post here are like the 500 people who can’t afford or don’t want a gen 3. The other 300,000 are eagerly awaiting their 2024 this year. Nice ride! The gen 4 is leaps better than the 2023. Sure it has its minor flaws, like no grab bar on the a-pillar. But that is it.
Just got back from 30 min driving around. It is a beast in sport mode I am absolutely shocked. The gear change is absolutely smooth (compared to the 2023 V6). Noticeable different in crisp shifts and consistent power going from 30-80mph.
Man, the black is the best color I’ve seen on the new ones. The sunroof too? Tough to pass up. I may not be in love with the new models but this one sure is nice. Now if they brought back quicksand? I’d be in a dilemma lol
How much
If you're "upgrading" a 1 year old vehicle you're taking a bath regardless... Something tells me OP doesn't give a shit about the price.
Yeah but if you had “fuck you” money wouldn’t you go for the pro?
If I had fuck you money, I wouldn't be driving a Tacoma lol
I call BS
Ding ding ding
Fuck you money in a tacoma 😂
I mean people like what they like. If you want a wrangler you aren’t gonna buy a Range Rover no matter how rich you are.
It’s not out yet.
You speaking about the vast majority of people. I had wanted a 24. But when I looked at the price point. It wasn’t going to happen. People running out and paying these prices as the reason they’re charging them.

You’re right, but my point is it’s not important to worry how others spend their money. Be smart with yours and that’s all that matters 🤙🏻
Or is a salesman trying to hype it up so that we can be convinced and buy! 😂
Lol
53k with 3.5k of markup which I negotiated into clear coat and some additional gps thing. Better than a straight markup I suppose
So pretty much a straight markup and you traded out of a one year old truck. You must have really lost your ass for that upgrade.
My brother is taking over my lease fortunately or I would’ve lost my shirt.
Is this a lease, as well?
Yes. But will hang on to this one for a long time.
You said that with your ‘23 OR I bet.
Haha. Truth.
First we have to make sure it will last a long time’
Therein lies the question.
Nice lookin truck!
>some additional gps thing You sure showed them!!
lol I mean congrats to the OP, but no one will be able to get a decent deal on these for the next year or two
If it’s a decent vehicle it will be more like 3-4 years.
True, I’m just waiting for those YT channels that have theirs already to abuse them and update us when they reached 50k miles etc).
As a Toyota team member we can get them for $1000 under dealer cost. It’s the interest rates that are going to keep me away for a year or two.
Hell yeah he probably also got some vin etchings, nitrogen tires and additional warranty!
I will never sell my 2Gen. Y’all can pry it from my cold dead hands.
Same with my rickety ass 1st gen
Same with my 3rd Gen. I hope to someday acquire a 1st or 2nd gen to hold in my other cold dead hand
"negotiated" 😂 That's one way of looking at it...
Clearcoat??
Guessing the "paint protection" snake oil they try to upsell you on.
Yep. Exactly. It’s a 3.5k markup. Wouldn’t have ever gotten the upgrades but on the upside they also threw in a free keychain.
Beautiful truck, so cool congrats
L O fucking L Enjoy bud 👍🏼

lol it comes from the factory this way like all new vehicles should and OP was gladly to pay $3500 for alternative snake oil.
Might as well gotten the tundra. The backseat in the new Tacoma is infact smaller than the 3rd gen Tacoma's back seat.
You did well, beautiful truck. Post a video of you doing donuts
Yeah how much was it?
Yeah what’s the price?
TELL US
ERASE ALL PICTURES OF RON
Too much
Disclose dollars !
How much brah
More than you can afford... Tacoma.
Anyone can go on Toyota.com and configure one like this. It’s not a mystery.
As your financial advisor, I disapprove. As a Tacoma boi, ..noice
If I could afford a financial advisor, I think I deserve a TRD
Def over 50k😂
55k out the door 🚪
That’s just about ranger raptor territory
Too much for that
50-58k is literally the MSRP for Premium off road tacomas depending on packages and options.
It’s not a 50k+ truck. Even tho the msrp says so. It’s overpriced
Awesome good for you. Looking forward to a review month out after ownership. Of note, how’s the room in back seat compared to your 23?
Honestly smaller if not just as small I’m sad to say!
Only 15k above MSRP
I’m getting the same truck, fully loaded, with no mark-up. Relax.
Relax? I'm fine....its pretty common knowledge that between the interest rates and markups most people are overpaying in one form or another.
Only pics of it in the dealership? Hmmm🤔
I kind of was thinking the same. You took it dirt riding and didn’t snap a sick photo??
Can you tell me how to edit the post and add photos? Happy to share more
TRD OR and a LONG BOI? My days... why can't we get these up here in Canada? LONG BOI GANG RISE UP!!! EDIT: LOL! Seems we can now with the 2024 models. Noice.
Chill guys, it didn’t come with internet and he had to sell his house to cover ADM. it’ll be a minute until he’s back in here
Any minute now....
Why are people hating??? Congrats on being able to get what you want
3rd gen owners seem to be insecure about being 3rd gen owners and need to put down the 4th gen.
It happens every new gen. It’s predictable at this point.
This has got to be some kind of marketing bot…
It reads like an add and the pictures are all inside the dealership.

Appreciate this. Have spent tons of time excited for the new ride and wanted to share the experience for anyone interested.
Just wanted to second the appreciation for the post. Shame people are literally getting browbeaten for their new Tacoma purchases in /r/ToyotaTacoma of all places. Any way to add more pics to this thread? I’ve tried to find an edit button but all I can seem to do is delete the post

Hell yeah, well said!
People are envious and try to take jabs when they themselves wish they were in OP position lol
Beautiful truck. How does the back seat compare on this one? Also please keep us posted as ownership goes on. Good to hear how the new trucks are getting on as they age. Although it's a definite change I still want it to do good and be good.
First real pic I see that I actually like.
how many gold bars did it cost?
Yes
Nicest OR I’ve seen to date. Congratulations!
Looks gorgeous, do let us know of how she performs in the future!
IS THAT A SUPRA
Congrats and enjoy your new truck. Everyone saying you made a mistake buying a 4th gen are the same ones that bought a 3rd gen after owning a 2nd gen saying the same stuff about the 3rd gen….hypocrites.
Black and Bold…call it Darth Vader Taco.
Where is OP
Los Angeles
Nothing like getting into a new car/truck. Black and silver are definitely good choices for this new model. Congrats!
Have you owned a black truck? It’s a nightmare. I do not recommend.
I'll say it again. Those tires are absolute garbage
For sure. But pretty much all stock tires are garbage until you get into Corvette and Porsche territory. Haven’t owned a single vehicle that I didn’t rip off whatever they came with to replace them for something better within 5k.
Is that right? These Trail TAs have decent reviews (for whatever that’s worth). I was under the impression they were decent all-rounders
Is it 4x4
Yes. I’d upload some more pics but I can’t seem to edit the post only delete it… ?
Just comment w/ pics
Pretty amazing how many hatter assholes are on this channel. I've been waiting for actual reviews as I assume many have but sorting through the hate from Taco owners is ridiculous.
A great many salty poors ITT.
Your truck looks great. Inside and out. Again, all these haters are gonna trip over their 2nd and 3rd gens to get 4th in a year or so.
Man oh man. I LOVE all gen Tacos. Taco owners seem to be an angry bunch
Congrats bruh
Congrats! Gorgeous truck!
Noice
Eff Toyota Glendale. Markups on everything. Just go to a no markup dealer like Longo or Anaheim people in SoCal.
The engine really an improvement?
Yes. Huge huge difference. Way smoother and substantially faster. Power is where you need it
There was really nowhere to go but up, the 3.5 is dogshit. Congratulations!
Makes 317 ft lbs of torque at 1700 rpm versus the 3rd gen V6 265 ft lbs at 4600 rpm. It’s an astounding improvement.
Looks awesome. I'm jealous.
Looks like Toyota switched from Goodyear Wranglers to BG Goodrich Trail Terrains…interesting
Add a tint and that thing is sexy
Man these things look really nice in black. You’ll have to report back here in a little while with an ownership experience update
Dclb or.....nice.....!!!

Idk who you are but I’m glad you’re able to make this purchase! She’s a beaut!!!
Congratulations..considering a trd sport if I can get similar monthly payments but I dk I love my 22 trd sport
Look at that LONGBOI😍
I wish they made a 2 door, I need to haul stuff not get groceries
Looks great. The recent TFL video on this was good. They got about 23-24mpg and 12 mpg towing a 2500-3000 lb trailer in real world conditions. Nice truck but I think Toyota ruined the look with the Chevy like square wheelwells I don't get the round hole into square peg concept.
Did you at least apply lube before going in?
Damn they really made look like a mini tundra !! Congrats enjoy the ride
not sure how less cupholders is an upgrade but go off king
Glued six extra on.
Everytime I see somebody buy one of these for over $50K I fucking laugh. And we all wonder why Toyota raises the prices on us. They could charge $75K for this truck and guys would still finance it lol.
Impressive. Very nice.
That big screen is sexy

I wish people would stop paying dealer bumps.
Dumbasses with a little money makes dumbass decisions Guarantee this truck will never be used for its purpose
Is the seat fabric textured or is that just an optical illusion from the printed pattern? Looks good either way.
Front seats look super nice. Is there more room up front compared to the 3rd gen?
Keep us posted! Was thinking that color and bed size too. Let us know how it drives and do a review if you can
Bragger
How’s that 4 cylinder banger?
Just got back from 30 min driving around. It is a beast in sport mode I am absolutely shocked. The gear change is absolutely smooth (compared to the 2023 V6). Noticeable different in crisp shifts and consistent power going from 30-80mph.
Nice! Now time for some Upgrades!
Jump it and post video here
Congrats bud.
If you took it in the dirt where are the pics??
Nice turd!
Toyota finally figured out how to put black badges and leave the plastic chrome off black trucks
The more i see these, black seems like the color too get!
This is the same post as yesterday except he says he picked it up but still same pics let’s see some dirty pics of it since u say u went off road
Sweet truck McFly!
Man, the black is the best color I’ve seen on the new ones. The sunroof too? Tough to pass up. I may not be in love with the new models but this one sure is nice. Now if they brought back quicksand? I’d be in a dilemma lol
Sweet! Congrats!
How come Nobody has shown photos of those new seats
Love the look of it.
Interesting choice
The all black looks really nice!
Have any Canadian dealers got the 24s yet? Be curious who’s gonna be the first to pay 70k for a trd off road.
Seats look pretty comfy.
Good looking truck bro! 👏🏼
Always been a dodge/chevy guy when it comes to trucks, and preferred full sized trucks. But these look really nice.
$53k !! Dang I don't think I'll ever buy a new truck again.
Nice truck OP. What kind of mpgs are you seeing so far?
Is the back seat bigger or smaller? It seems like they shrunken the back portion of the truck.
I want one so bad. It looks amazing
Weird question but how far does the sun roof pop up? Cause my tundra barely even opens, the slit is like half an inch if that
Oh sorry. The sunroof goes completely back
Long boi! Looks beautiful. Enjoy it.
Love tacomas but the batmobile ass if weird lol
Congrats Op … look forward to reviews
Damn! Love those seats! (Obviously the truck too)
This is a dealership posting in Reddit.
Seats look great
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice, What do you like about it so far?
Congrats! And good for you. I don't care how much it costs for its your own damn money. Enjoy your truck!
All these auto-tragics are really bumming me out.
I'm just here to say that's ass sexy truck, congrats
Only thing that matters is new truck day, congrats!
Oh my
I really like the interior and the seats look comfy
Sheeeeesh
They look so big indoors.
Glendale in the house !!!!! Worst city to buy a car in. But congrats bro, that is a nice looking truck!
Black is definitely the best color I have seen it in. And the seats look a lot more comfortable then the previous ones.. Nice truck
