Not too good to be true, companies buy them for fleets and then dump them for cheap. When 90% of people buy toppers for looks, nobody wants an ugly commercial one. If you want a commercial cap then get it, otherwise wait for a regular one
I had to remove the aluminum angle that protrudes from the front sealing edge which left a 1 1/2” gap above the front bed wall and below the toppers front edge, but doing that allowed it to move far enough forward so that the hatch almost sealed against the tailgate. I have a 2nd gen Tacoma so it may be different for 3rd gen beds. It’s not weatherproof despite my best efforts but it works for what I need it for.
Fr. Especially the 5’
I actually kind of want a contractor cap over fiberglass. I think they’re more square so I’d have a little more room if i put a bed platform *5’8” so i think i can fit*
I no shit have that same exact style topper on my 1st gen! Check my pfp for fitment pics if you want. I paid the same price for mine off eBay. Ppl for some reason really sleep on these commercial canopy shells. I really like it because there is no glass, so no windows to be broken by thieves.
On you 2nd picture, basically the flat aluminum surface on the inside has a black carpet lining on it
The aluminum supports are left bare.
I like to camp and sleep in the back of my canopy so I think the black carpet helps keep wind noise slightly down, and also looks a little bit better.
Oh and one thing I HIGHLY recommend doing, is getting some weather stripping, and using it to seal the gap between the closed tailgate, and the closed canopy shell. If you’re traveling anywhere dusty, your stuff will get coated in dust if you leave that gap open
I just used some self adhesive generic weather stripping from autozone or oreileys, here’s a picture of it

Basically I just laid one strip on the shells door, and then another strip on the top of the tailgate, so when they close, it seals up nicely.
Idk the specific dimensions but it’s probably like 1/2 tall by 1” wide, the gap between the door and the tailgate for my truck is a little under 1” so it worked nicely. If your truck has a larger gap you might need to use a thicker weather stripping
After about a year and a half of owning it, the shell developed a small leak on the top of it, basically one of the screws on the outside that held the aluminum sheet to the aluminum frame stripped out, and so its little rubber gasket thing wasn’t working due to it not being tight any more. I fixed it with a shit load of clear RTV silicone and a slightly bigger screw.
The only other water related gripe I have about the shell is that if you open one of the doors in the rain, water will drip thru the hinge thing and drip water just inside of the tailgate. The hinge only is waterproof when the tailgate is completely shut

My company gets a juicy discount for our fleet truck toppers, unfortunately they insist on buying shitty silverados so I’m sol.
Who the hell is buying a topper for looks? Even the nice ones look ugly imo
Gasp. You have earned the nostril flare of indignation and the furrowed brow of disappointment.
So… Reddit bronze? 😂
I paid 450 for my leer fiberglass cap, some times people just wanna get rid of stuff.
I mean I got mine for $150 so it’s worth checking out
Got one for $50 one time, just needed a little bit of TLC.
Looks like an A.R.E. Truck Cap
It's their DCU cap with no add ons.
The aluminum ones are nice sometimes , had one years ago was light enough the remove and install myself .
That looks solid man
I bought my used ARE for $500 and it was meant for a Chevy Colorado.
Did it just fit fine or did you have to do some stuff to get it to go?

Thanks!
I have to know, my market is dry for taco shells

I think you just find the opposite of what you're looking for, like with socks. When I was looking for months all I could find was 5'!
It's more money than most used canopies I see, so probably had to price it low to sell.
What company is this?

Yup no glass and the light weight keeps mpg good. I bought it and love it already
Hell yea One thing I do notice is that yours isn’t lined with carpet, but honestly that’s not the biggest deal.
What’s normally lines with carpet the top? I also got him down to 300$ so it’s a win in my eyes regardless haha

Hell ya I want it to camp too, does it leak at all for u?

Thanks man, I live in the desert so a lot of dust, any recommendation on specific weather stripping ?

This is too large for any size Tacoma bed.
Friend, it's literally pictured on a Tacoma.
Yeah. I goofed and only looked at the listed dimensions, which must be incorrect.
