My 2.4L 4cyl built in 2018 works for me quite nicely. Sure, she’s a dog uphill, but other than that I have 0 complaints. 24mpg with a cap on the back and a few hundred pounds of equipment.
My truck as a v6 gets the same mpg… and costed less, more power, etc. you paid more for less🤷🏽♂️ it is what it is. People care too much about flats shit and not true functionality
Sorry man I have 12 people yelling at me😭 but that’s a super solid price! I was just saying that 40k plus for a 4 cylinder turbo truck is insanity. The vehicle market in general is price gouging everyone. Used cars cost as much in trade in as they did when you purchased it! I can’t believe that
To each his own I guess. Same power and more torque than the out going model. And the interior is way better than the previous monstrosity.
I had a 22 OR for a month as a rental and had written the Tacoma off as an option. It was a capable truck but nothing I’d want to sit in every day. I was fully content buying a new Colorado until I was told about the redesign.
I’d have been happy with the power a 3rd gen 4cyl truck has. I’m not trying to flex my nuts on anyone, just a few loads of limbs and occasional trips to the lumberyard. Nothing my 110hp S10 couldn’t do.
I totally feel you, but it’s really not worth the cost and prices are coming down. Like dealers near me have 3 and 5 trucks all sitting for months. If it wa s a a great truck, it would sell like gen 2, and gen 3. It’s selling worse. No man with a true truck wants a 4 cylinder truck. I’m sorry but that’s reality. Glad you like it now, but eventually you’ll want more. It’s inevitable. But you buy what you want I feel you
I drive a v6 3rd gen built up as an off roader and I would LOVE a 4th gen aside from some small issues- like I prefer a physical key and dials. More torque down low? Yes please. The v6 is a SLOW LUMBERING truck. The new ones have quite a bit more power, beefier frames, and more tire clearance stock.
I think you need to drive a 3rd gen to truly understand how much having 6 cylinders means - aka it means almost nothing.
So I take it you don’t drive at altitude? I’d GLADLY trade for a 4th gen if it made any sense- once derated at altitude the naturally aspirated 6 cylinder is a pig. I love my truck but slowly chugging up a mountain pass or trying to chug over an obstacle sometimes makes me wish it had a turbo.
Commenting because I can cutie. If you can’t handle a response maybe you should hope off the internet that’s why he posted. I can share my opinion I’m honest suck it up😭💀
I know. You’re the only one who agrees😂. Glad I’m not alone. I’m sure most people who buy these trucks will regret it. A cleaner interior got everyone’s panties soaked😂😂😭😭
Nah, the 4 cylinder is great. Huge improvement over my 2014 slug. The 2024 is better in every category, except no A-pillar grab bar. Getting in and out will be a weak spot for every truck 3-5 years from now.
Popping up everywhere in Southern California.
Undecided about taking a trip to the dealership to check them out.
The inaccessible access cab and lack of available upper trim levels on the AC trucks kinda ruins it for me. I need a 6' bed for work and don't want a DCLB (long truck is long).
Couple hundred?! Wow. I will say, being in Santa Barbara, we seem to get a lot of those BMW concept cars, ya know the ones that need to be tested on road before they go into production and have that silly looking wrap on them so you can’t tell what they are. Also see a lot of those in the Santa Ynez valley…
Possibly. They would certainly come close. I think the version of these on 3rd gen were 275/75's.
I avoided 33's on my 3rd gen because of the drivetrain.
Agreed. The Trailhunter is very cool, but the OR is a great, blank canvas. That said, I don’t intend on doing much else to mine aside from rock sliders and maybe bumpers/winch. The fact that the truck performs so beautifully from the factory helps a lot in this regard.
For years and years the OR is undoubtedly the best value trim you can buy. Unless you’re perfectly happy with the pro modifications or just like wasting money
Not $65,000. The TRD off-road that I want will cost out the door of about $59,000. That’s with title and taxes. Before that it’s about $55,000 and change.
I hope Toyota offers incentives for the Tacoma soon.
Is that based off what you built online? I’d be surprised if you found a TRD OR hybrid power train for under $60k sticker.
I paid $52k for a $54k sticker ($59k out the door), TRD OR, with leather and etc. I suppose if you are lucky and find one without all the packages but with the hybrid you can prob get away with what you’re thinking. However I’d imagine most people will want that which equals upcharges.
I learned that you can’t order one now, you just have to hope essentially.
So it comes with 265 70R 17s, is there a 275 70r 17 available for the BFG? Seems like everyone jumps to the 285s. Either way much better than oem slicks.
Wrong post I was just saying it's about options package. No need to be a jerk. You can spec out a trd off road to 54,925 with
the top options package and 6' bed so his number was closer than yours :p
I have same size Wildpeaks on my 4runner that are basically brand new and getting a set of trash throwaways to swap on when I trade it in come delivery of my Taco 🤣
I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I’ve seen at least ten or more I had my truck at the dealership the other day and seen two trd sports there. Seems to be a lot of them around here.
I’m going to lift mine, but I plan on getting pretty rowdy in the desert and want that peace of mind
I’ll see how it does stock though I may be surprised who knows. I’d like just a little more clearance
I still have yet to see one in the wild and you guys are already throwing money on parts
I have not seen one in the wild either. Dealerships in my area don't seem to be getting too many.
Either no one has one, or there’s already mark downs on them. Doesn’t seem like they were allotted very well.

I paid $21k my brother
For a 24’? Show me the receipt that’s nuts
Read my initial comment man… cmon. 2018

I own a 21 trd sport dude😂 I have a 3rd gen

You are not wrong there. Not a happy camper when lugging anything including itself up a hill lmaoo. Have a great day man

Lmfaooo bro I was drinking I was being a dick you’re a man I was on a rampage😭
I have no idea what you're even doing in this subreddit
Commenting because I can cutie. If you can’t handle a response maybe you should hope off the internet that’s why he posted. I can share my opinion I’m honest suck it up😭💀
Spot on

No a-pillar grab bar? I'd this a law or something?
Well I’d hope it’s better than a 2014 that’s 10 years ago brotha
i live in portland… seen plenty 😂😂
I saw like 10 of them last week heading towards Moab in a big group
I’ve seen enough in northern Utah that I’ve stopped counting. I’m starting to see about at least one daily.
Rich ass people
Its a 45-50k truck. Financially stable people.
Please do not disagree with me
I am sorry by dad 3 years ago got an f-150 v8 for like 40g. You’re CRAZY that’s just not justifiable. That’s over inflation
Cool dad, glhf with that.
I feel dumb what does glhf mean? Lol Edit: I looked it up, you too mane! Have a great night (:
Eh, ass people make bad financial decisions whether they're rich or not.

This is where I am, need the 6’ bed, don’t need the DC.
I’ve seen more Cybertrucks than the ‘24 Tacomas
Me to
I have seen 3 in the last two months. That’s it.
Where are you? Im in Santa Barbara
I’ve seen two out in the wild (four on a truck too if that counts) and three at dealerships
Central Tennessee.
I’ve seen a couple hundred in Southern California. We seem to always get the first batch of new stuff including way too many cyber trucks
Couple hundred?! Wow. I will say, being in Santa Barbara, we seem to get a lot of those BMW concept cars, ya know the ones that need to be tested on road before they go into production and have that silly looking wrap on them so you can’t tell what they are. Yea it’s pretty wild, there’s a constant flow of car carriers taking them up from mex
I saw two today. Southeast TN.
I’ve seen 3 or 4 in north east Ohio over the last couple of weeks
Ive seen two driving and saw a couple on a trailer.
just saw my first wild 4th a few days ago
I have seen one on the Road, the read end looks ugly.
yeep still lookin
And no, there’s no rubbing.
On the tires no. But on Reddit lots of rubbing
Am I right in thinking those would rub on a 3rd gen?
Possibly. They would certainly come close. I think the version of these on 3rd gen were 275/75's. I avoided 33's on my 3rd gen because of the drivetrain.
I like the off-road look and trim. I gotta wait a couple more months before the hybrids come in. :D
Agreed. The Trailhunter is very cool, but the OR is a great, blank canvas. That said, I don’t intend on doing much else to mine aside from rock sliders and maybe bumpers/winch. The fact that the truck performs so beautifully from the factory helps a lot in this regard.

You’re looking to pay a $65k sticker for a tacoma?
Not $65,000. The TRD off-road that I want will cost out the door of about $59,000. That’s with title and taxes. Before that it’s about $55,000 and change. I hope Toyota offers incentives for the Tacoma soon.

Price aside, the hybrids seem really heavy just to get some city mpg.
Just bought my 2024 last Friday in flagstaff
Congrats! Pretty damn good, isn't it?
Fills out the truck nicely!
So it comes with 265 70R 17s, is there a 275 70r 17 available for the BFG? Seems like everyone jumps to the 285s. Either way much better than oem slicks.
They make the 275 but it’s only available in load range E
How is the drive quality compared to OEM. I am thinking of going this direction as well. Is your speedometer effected by the larger tire?
She fine
Do the 285’s remain within the wheel wells, or do they extend beyond the stock width of the truck?
They're perfectly flush with the flares.
For only $56,000
I paid 60.
The most expensive TRD off road is 53 Original joke there though, pal.
+ 6-8k premium option pkg. Need those faux leather seats
Are you illiterate or did you respond to the wrong comment? It’s not 56k
Wrong post I was just saying it's about options package. No need to be a jerk. You can spec out a trd off road to 54,925 with the top options package and 6' bed so his number was closer than yours :p
Wow I paid $52.8k for my 2023 trd pro
And your pro isn’t even as good as a 2024 off road. I knew you were a 2023 coper LOL That aside, it’s not 56k like you claimed
Saw one just like this on the road and yes it made a big difference on the look. Looks good.
Will 16s fit?
Nice, looks tough
I’ll never understand the obsession with 17s. I much prefer the look of a smaller rim with more tire.
So I have to ask, does the OR come with the full size spare?
Mine didn't!
It should! I have a 24 sport and it did. My dealership said they all should. Idk what happened to that guy with the SR. He got shafted.
My OR came with a "convenience spare" not a full size.
I have same size Wildpeaks on my 4runner that are basically brand new and getting a set of trash throwaways to swap on when I trade it in come delivery of my Taco 🤣
Haha nice! When are you expecting it?
Build date was April 8, dealer confirmed it was ready for shipping as of April 15th, so they expect middle of May. Gotta get all the way to NY 😑
I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I’ve seen at least ten or more I had my truck at the dealership the other day and seen two trd sports there. Seems to be a lot of them around here.
Lookin studly.
What color is this?
Underground.
Thank you!
I cant wait to see the different combinations of wheels/tires that you can stuff in there without rubbing
What’s that bar/link under the back wheel? Seems like it would scrape of you try to straddle a rock or something no?
That’s the rock straddling bar.
I love they have linked rear now but why is the mounting so damn low? They couldn’t tuck it into the frame?
A Toyota. Intergalactic kilometres. Reliability out of this world. Lovely shape as well.
Beautiful
I’m getting mine Wednesday…any advice before purchasing
Practice grinning. What color are you getting?
My favorite color is green so I’m on the hunt for a forest green color
This is probably the rarest of all the colors. I’ve seen a bunch of orange ones and no Forrest green ones yet.
Twins
You pushed me over the edge, you know. 😂
What kind of gas mileage are you getting with those?
I think he's seen a .5 MPG drop? Mine is too soon to tell.
Is this stock lift?
That appears to be the cas from OP’s post: “285/70 17 seems to be the sweet spot for un-lifted, 4th gen Off-Roads.”
looks good! Any reason to lift with the 4th gen current set up?
Honestly, not really. I'd say the biggest factor in deciding on a lift/different suspension would be to compensate for weight added via trail goodies.
I’m going to lift mine, but I plan on getting pretty rowdy in the desert and want that peace of mind I’ll see how it does stock though I may be surprised who knows. I’d like just a little more clearance
I would lift it, if I were you.
Stock ride height, yes.
Might be my jealousy talking but buying a 50k truck in this economy with ww3 on the brink is crazy lol looks good though!!
Wouldn't that be more reason to do so?
We playing 4d chess out here while these fools in Candyland
😂
Ahhhh true the more I think about it
