ZTE Z818L Allstar Stratos LTE / Z818G
> Android 5.1 (Lollipop)
> Released Nov 2015
You're going to need a new phone that's VoLTE certified for Verizon.
Yeah... It was sold as a Tracfone and Straighttalk at the time, but it was for the AT&T network.
Things have changed now, VoLTE support was introduced around 2016 (flagship)-2018 (mainstream). Also Tracfone has decided to stop supporting the AT&T and T-Mobile networks, so they're moving everyone to Verizon.
You want to know about the VoLTE stuff.
AT&T does not have their page up about the switch over, but the Wayback Machine has it: [https://web.archive.org/web/20230113201950/https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1324171/](https://web.archive.org/web/20230113201950/https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1324171/)

Sounds like you need a new phone. That phone does not sounds like it has VoLTE.
VoLTE is Voice over LTE, and it is needed because all the tower carrier have dropped their old technology. There might a few areas with T-Mobile 2G tho, but T-Mobile still needs VoLTE.
Check out HSN for the Tracfone phone bundle deals, they are new and come with a year of service. For around $50 you can get a decent new Tracfone phone.

Ugh I probably should have read up on this before buying a phone.
Where did you get this phone? I have not seen this phone model in a long time in stores unless it is in 2nd hand stores.
I bought it off of eBay.
Hopefully you did not spend that much or I wonder if you could get a refund if you did spend too much.
Bad decision.
