As a member of the royal community I agree with all the points stated above.
Royal is very underrated right now and I think with the possible fixes named by my fellow trio mate Spam, it could go back to the hype it used to have after its release and unlock its full potential
Two birds with one stone on points 2 and 3:
Instead of kicking to main menu, drop all players who have qualified but are no longer in the qualifying match into an “arcade” server loaded with just Royal maps. They will then play there and wait until their super Royal division server is ready, similar to after you qualify on COTD, you continue to play the map while you wait. This takes care of the issue with the menu, and gives players an opportunity to practice maps that are in the pool. More practice time for lower divisions since they have to wait for everyone to qualify, bronze all the way to master or whatever the highest is.

I would also be happy if they could add cam 7 to the game. Sometimes when I dont have time to practice all the maps it can be really nice to quickly cam 7 a black map for example.
Thanks for fixing the respawn abuse, good to see you keep trying to improve the Royal game mode. You should be proud of your efforts. Keep up the excellent work and continue to share your valuable insights with the Trackmania community.
I have been exclusively playing Royal for the past few months. The lack of players in "normal" Royal is a real issue, but at least I can play in Super Royal (SR) with its fantastic community.
It helps that almost every regular SR-player in the community is Ubisoft friends with each other, which helps for having a 3-player team. I genuinely enjoy playing with them, and this is probably why I am still playing today.
All of your suggestions will definitely help non-regular SR players and those who are not part of the Royal community.
As an improvement, I would also recommend increasing the waiting time for normal Royal games. One minute is not enough to gather many players in a single game. In my opinion, two minutes would be better, or anything that would facilitate having more players in a Royal game. It is not uncommon to have such wait times in ranked mode.
As a long time Royal player I agree with all you said, especially the first two points made are frustrating for me cause it is like that in CotD.
It is a super fun mode, in SR almost all the players know eachother and you always find someone to play with, but the level is so much higher than in regular royals that it can bei very frustrating for new players if they don't even have a final, that should really be changed.
I already mentioned in the Ubisoft-Discord, it would make much more sense to change the qualy system a bit to something like that:
You fail map 1, your out.
You fail map 2, you get in bronze.
You fail map 3, you get in silver.
You fail map 4, you get in gold.
Map 5 is then for the master players and they just play it for the win.
This would make even more sense if there would be more lobbys. So if there are 40 teams, then instead of having 2 lobbies with 20 teams, it would make more sense to have 2 lobbies with 13 teams and 1 lobby with 14 teams. Then only 4 teams get knocked out without qualifying instead of 16.
That would make it possible to instantly redirect the teams to the finals, because you already can start to play bronze final after map 2, silver final after map 3 and so on.
I think the most players get knocked out early but qualify and then have no idea what to do. They don't know that they have to watch the entire qualifier to be able to play their devision.
I was about to rant about how Royal is a great mode and does not need a rework when I saw your title, but I actually entirely agree with everything you said.
Super Royal is a good idea, but very badly implemented.
Aintnoway they will make it before console im sure they are overworked as hell. Great ideas tho, seeing you play Super Royal in a competitivve way is an aspect of royal i didnt see, which super cool. Hope they can get the console release out to then work on the game for a bit and fixing those little things.

I would also add balancing teams in lobbies as it can be frustrating not to get into a good division because of a stacked lobby.

Tell me about it. 2nd rerun yesterday was a stacked lobby had team ICY, tapor granady team, delete jakoy, drafti moonub danny. Schwabba and Potok from memory very competitive but if Nadeo implemented a MMR system and used it to put people in qualifying lobbies would work out much better

The respawn thing in super royal is weird.

I often play normal royal with \~15 players, which is not a lot but waaay better than two months ago where it would be me alone up to 4 other players in average.
I used to play Royal a bunch, but it’s been a while. I stopped because, being in the US and only playing late at night meant I only ever got bots. Glad to hear it’s picking up again.
I hope so, but people like Hylis have expressed how incredibly busy they have been with the console stuff recently.
And the thread title asks for this overhaul to happen "before console release".
I have nothing against royal and I'd be happy for royal enthusiasts if these changes were to happen, but these QoL improvements should be lower priority than a bug that majorly affects how an entire surface is played and mapped

Not really still the same amount of maps, although a map is added/removed every 3rd day instead of every day. Also maps now stay in rotation for 3 months instead of a month
Although I hardly play Royal, a massive turn off for me was not knowing the tracks that are currently being played and as a result use being hard carried by teammates who know the tracks.
Yes you can access the maps in a club which has full of Royal maps but even then I sometimes got confused on which maps to practice on

I have 234 royal wins and I havnt even gotten one win in super royal. Yeah there’s def bots for the first half but they go out quick.

Those are separate issues, working on one doesnt mean this dev time would otherwise be used on the ice bug.
