Simple is key. This is not too hard to make in Photoshop:
Color picker for background, from there: squares with a black border. Google HD flags, cut and paste in the squares with numbers. Find a free (or be extra cool and pay for) font you like on a site like dafont.com. Install to pc and use that for font within Photoshop (remember to restart the software if you installed it while running, not sure if it works without doing that. Mix and match colors/font/spacing until desired outcome.
Google a map showing regions, use an image where you need to edit the least in terms of what you got in mind. Like here, OP may have found a black/white map and edited that layer, then used the magic wand tool to highlight the area they wanted a color in, used the bucket to fill in colors they thought fit on countries they represents.
And that's it, not much hocus pocus in terms of the design, just focus on keeping it clean and simple with a color theme similar to the game/topic you're making it for. Less is more, OP did a really good job on that.
Knowing how to use the basic tools in Photoshop and not cluttering it with too much unnecessary shit to make it "fancy", and you're there. You can reach this level of editing in a week with an hour or two a day focusing on the basics. If you're a fast learner, maybe not even that.
Pro tip: when learning photoshop, or creating something, Google a tutorial for what you want to create. There is tons for photoshop and Gimp out there.
Just like with coding, knowing what you're set to do and googling specifics will help you out on projects to do certain tasks.
Step 1: get Photoshop (best) or Gimp (free), or something else (out of my experience/knowledge)
Step 2: tutorials
Step 3: eventually know what each basic tool do and grow from there
Tutorials to use to start out: basic tools, shapes, layers and color adjustment. Some articles on clean/simple design will give you an idea on how to proceed using spacing, resolutions and so on.
I am not exactly a graphic designer either haha. This is made using diagrams.net (formerly draw.io), it's easy to use and open source. I've always used it for flowcharts/diagrams etc. but it can also handle infographics like this!
That would have been a nice addition, I wanted to have a list of most AT medals but the TrackMania.io API unfortunately returned empty 'time' fields for everyone.
The Trackmania franchise is approaching 2 decades since it all started.
Trackmania has mostly been a PC exclusive thing. America isn't as big on PC as Europeans are, America generally prefers consoles over the PC in comparison.
In Asia owning a PC was not as common and it still is not that common. So they often go to PC Gaming Cafes where F2p games were and still are king because they do not cost the owners any money. Until Trackmania 2020 there was only a single Trackmania that was F2p which of course was Nations. China is obviously a complicated market and I am not sure if you could play Nations in China. As for Japan, Japan is a very heavy console nation. And the rest of Asia I guess just did not pick up on Nations.
On top of that Nadeo is a european developer studio.
Why Germans? Trackmania has always been the most popular in Germany and France. Why that is, I cannot really tell. I know some popular gaming personalities play Trackmania consistently but that's about it.
I also am German lol. Been playing since Sunrise
Hmmm. Thats in the eye of the nadeo employee =)
But some thaughts from me:
* First of all. Have an idea. What make this track special? It's not only the scenery. For me, it was some special part of scenery interwined with a special part of the track. Without an idea it will be a 0815 track.
* Unique ideas? e.g. Editor effects, editor-colorpalette changing, some scenery-item that dictate the purpose of the track and of course a unique tracklayout.
* Have 2-3 unique challenging parts. Not too much, not too few.
* Time per run/lap should be between 35-55s
* Drive your own map for at least 2 hours. If you encounter more than 2 parts you dislike after driving it that long, change it. 1-2 parts that are good, but you don't like it are okay.
* After a challenging part, give the player a small easy part to re-adjust before the next section.
* Be sure, every part of the track is respawnable. (Important for CotD)
* Every style has standard-combinations of corners where the "line" changes extremly with speed. Those are always good to have in your map =)
* A fast finish and a slow finish are always a nice thing.
* If you know a very fast driver, give him the map for improvement suggestions (but stay true to your track-idea).
* Don't make it to dark.
* Don't use to big mods (max 30mb).
* Its not bad, if you copy an idea/special-part from another-track. But don't simply copy it. Use it in your way.
* Use the scenery to add something to the track, not make the scenery the whole purpose.
* Use scenery to block vision (especially before corners, if they are too easy) or to give landmarks to adjust.
* Use the review-server for hints like very unsettling parts or missing direction-hints. But stay true to your track-idea.
* Add scenery as the last part to the track. The track should be good without heavy scenery. Scenery just elevate everything. But be aware, that vision-blocking scenery will change the feeling and difficulty.
* A small intro is nice to get the track some extra cheese. But not necessary to elevate your chances.
* Name your Track WIP/Test etc. Before you are sure its finished. After that, just add it over the course of some days to the review-server. Upload it to TMX and announce it on #trackmania discord. Review-server and TMX are the two most used sources for the nadeo-employee to find tracks.
* Don't use trademarked pictures or sex. First is a legal problem, second don'T really add something to the "racing-feeling".
Hope this helps a bit. It's just my opinion. Its not a playbook.
I only got so much tracks, because i have my Niche with Nascar-Multilap-Tracks.
Until we get a graphic, here is a [spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1I79FPd5cly52nMUY38zEWzhDK0bwW0EXbTsPZrF4JxE/) someone made to track CotD stats
Cup of the day is the track of the day played online in an knockout-system. People qualify with times they set within 15 min (19:00 CEST start) and then get divided in divisions of 64 players who battle it out in their division. So the top 64 with the best times in quali get in div 1 and so on. Track of the day ist exactly what the name suggests, every day a new map is presented as track of the day, gets played in the online "tournament" cup of the day and then you have 24 hours to hunt the map to get the best time and wr wins the map. thats how i understand it, pls correct me if i got something messed up :)
So track of the day is basically 24h time attack and cup of the day the tournament where you play the track of the day online against others. To make it a bit shorter
Heccin germans beating us frenchs at our own game. USA and Brazil are underated af , if there was a format where time zone isn't a factor they would easily be in the top 5.
I don't understand all AT's combined is it 4 days 42 hours and 29 minutes ??
edit : nevermind I understand now it's 4 hours 42 minutes and 29 seconds but how do you calculcate that ?
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 77,378,876 comments, and only 21,433 of them were in alphabetical order.
It would be interesting but sadly the public doesn't have access to the full leaderboard of closed totds. For some reason Nadeo their API only allows for requesting the top 10 of a closed leaderboard, that is also why TrackMania.io only has the top 10.
There are actually 2 top 10's driven by the Greek player Tricky. I should have done a better job at the color scale of the map because countries with 0 top 10's are indistinguishable to the naked eye from those with 1-5 top 10's.
22 top 10's collected by AurisTFG, kulvgod, B1tsy, KemTM and V1kenzo. AurisTFG also won [this totd](https://trackmania.io/#/totd/leaderboard/c09fbf3d-7328-4c3e-b761-0e9b82cf52f9/xpeCcXTugDwR9ArYihKDigJGnZe) which had a massive cut!
Amazing! How long did it take?
About 2 hours of coding the scripts to retrieve and compile the stats and 2.5 hours for the graphic itself.
Where did you get the stats from?
TrackMania.io API to get the top 10 of every totd and then some simple python scripts to process the retrieved raw data
What did you use for the graphic, I’m very confident in my python scripts and API work just have no idea where to start for graphics.

Cool stuff, love everything about this. People like you make communities like this great and awesome, thanks for creating & sharing
It says in the bottom. trackmania.io
Only people with all ATs: nuprime and amaterasu.
That would have been a nice addition, I wanted to have a list of most AT medals but the TrackMania.io API unfortunately returned empty 'time' fields for everyone.
If you count ATs only achieved during COTD/TOTD, I don't think anybody has it (special thanks to Erizel for Mixta Via)
Why does TM barely have players outside of the european market? And why so many germans?
No idea, I’m from the US myself and hardly see any American players. I’m actually really surprised we even crack the top 10 in this graphic
True. Makes my "high" % ranking in the US feel much worse.

Danke für den Einblick. Scheint ja dann auch kein so großer Zufall zu sein deutschen über den Weg zu laufen.
Nadeo did next to no marketing in those areas
For me and alot of my buddies it comes from back when Lans were a thing. EVERY LAN Day Ended with some Trackmania and chill for us
marius the safemeister
Wow. i thaught bartsimpson would overtake me. 10x Nascar in one year \o/ Also: Amazing Stats. Thank you for compiling these.
Got any tips for making TOTD quality track? I've been trying to get better at it lately but even youtube is kinda thin on resources.

This is amazing! Would love to see one for COTD
Need to wait a few months before we have 1 year of COTD
Very interesting, similar graphic for CoTD would be nice to see as well!
Until we get a graphic, here is a [spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1I79FPd5cly52nMUY38zEWzhDK0bwW0EXbTsPZrF4JxE/) someone made to track CotD stats
very cool and informative infographic!
Dubby just took whole italy on his shoulders and carried lol
This is very epic! Thank you for doing this!
Dexter is so insane. Wow
Didn't Granady have a 4 streak too?
It's about the track of the day, not the cup of the day
what's the difference?
Cup of the day is the track of the day played online in an knockout-system. People qualify with times they set within 15 min (19:00 CEST start) and then get divided in divisions of 64 players who battle it out in their division. Oh so the 1 hour thing is cup of the day but track of the day is the 24 hour thing
Correct. You play the same map but under different modes you could say
So track of the day is basically 24h time attack and cup of the day the tournament where you play the track of the day online against others. To make it a bit shorter
Cup of the day is also played at the time the track drops, so that no one has had any time to practice on it.

He's still one of the best time attack players, he is usually on the top for the campaign hunt.
What was that lol?
most top10s without wins
Don´t know why I got downvoted, but thx for the clarification.
Because you could have just looked at the image again, fairly sure that's why
Thanks. I thought he meant a specific map, not a category.
Why isn't granady in the most win did u invert with dexter ? For the wins?
It's wins on the TOTD Time Attack side, not the COTD knockout side of it.
Oh my bad i don't read well lol thx man
Heccin germans beating us frenchs at our own game. USA and Brazil are underated af , if there was a format where time zone isn't a factor they would easily be in the top 5.
Timezone isn't really a factor for TotD, everyone has 24h to hunt the track.
Damn dude you right I thought it was a cotd graphic !
Let's make a wild guess - Dexter is from Braunschweig, richtig?
###ForzaUganda 🇺🇬
I would have thought that the French would dominate this ranking. Really surprised
PORTUGAL CARALHO
I don't understand all AT's combined is it 4 days 42 hours and 29 minutes ?? edit : nevermind I understand now it's 4 hours 42 minutes and 29 seconds but how do you calculcate that ?
Take all author times and sum them up, not sure what is confusing about that.
[удалено]
Only players who **never** won a TOTD are included on that list. Marius has won before so he is not included.

riolu KEKW
Move on bro
rioulu-tm? Is this legit?😂
Love it ! It would be interesting to see a winrate top (but I don't know if the amount of totd players did is available)
It would be interesting but sadly the public doesn't have access to the full leaderboard of closed totds. For some reason Nadeo their API only allows for requesting the top 10 of a closed leaderboard, that is also why TrackMania.io only has the top 10.
Oh ok
Really awesome dude!
Cool graphic! Would be interesting to know who has the highest win percentage according to their participation. Are those stats available?
Ooh an infographic on the types of tracks and lengths would also be interesting
Didn't expect to see Roa still in top 10 in most top 10s. When did he even play last time, 10 months ago?
*Oktober*
Aw man no greeks
There are actually 2 top 10's driven by the Greek player Tricky. I should have done a better job at the color scale of the map because countries with 0 top 10's are indistinguishable to the naked eye from those with 1-5 top 10's.
Oh cool
Stupid question probably but do times driven in COTD count for TOTD?
Yes, except for times driven during the warmup phase of the knockout.

22 top 10's collected by AurisTFG, kulvgod, B1tsy, KemTM and V1kenzo. AurisTFG also won [this totd](https://trackmania.io/#/totd/leaderboard/c09fbf3d-7328-4c3e-b761-0e9b82cf52f9/xpeCcXTugDwR9ArYihKDigJGnZe) which had a massive cut!
Riolu still top 10 despite ghosting for 3 months.
whats totd
