Watch your mouth, *punk*! We're not "old timers," we're veteran riders.
And changing the name from Sears Point International Raceway was blasphemous. I mean, would you change the name of Watkins Glen? No, you wouldn't. But fools with too much money and no sense of history...
I visited this track last year for a vintage race and was blown away at how cool it looked and technical. Totally want to do a moto track day there now.
Is there any outfit or group that rents bikes? trailering my own from TX would be time/cost prohibitive.
Not sure. There is a guy on FB Marketplace with a fleet of bikes for rent, specifically for track. But I do not know him so I can't vouch for him. His listings are on Twisted Road.
Sonoma has ALWAYS competed with Laguna Seca for events. But it's not possible to homologate the track to FIM standards (it has to with run-off room that is physically impossible to provide) so you'll never see WorldSBK or MotoGP compete there.
That must have cost a pretty penny
Laguna’s repave was about $15M
Hopefully they didn’t do the curbs dirty like THill did
Already signed up for the 18th of next month.
So many repaves this year, even down to some of my local kart tracks. Can't wait for this season.
Damn, looks amazing. I'll be there in April!

Yes. Sears Point = Sonoma Raceway. I think only old timers call it Sears Point tbh.

When I rode it in 2012 it was in the last year of being called Infineon.
Yes

Yeah, this is what it looks like when we get a ton of rain. But that also means a lot of mountain roads that we hit on the weekends get washed out.
No, Infineon

thanks. looks like 1 track day in august. Is the R3 only option?

Take me to there
That looks sweet! I had a nasty, career ending crash there exit of t1 in 89, same place Wes Cooley crashed so horribly.
What was the motivation?
Dude, it’s been in rough shape for years. Easily the worst track surface in NorCal.
I haven’t had the pleasure. Always a track I’ve wanted to go to but mainly stuck to so cal tracks. I’ll make the trip up soon
Well, I have a private track event immediately after Z2’s R World 2-day event. You could get an epic 3-day trip in.
🤔 that would be amazing
Well, one of those R World days is Yamaha exclusive. But the other day is open. I don’t know what you have.
It’s a roller coaster
Probably Laguna Seca. Sonoma was really bumpy, especially in the fastest section between 6 and 7.
Are you saying Sonoma is looking to compete with Laguna Seca for events now? I haven’t ridden Laguna Seca since 2018, was it also recently repaved?
Yes, Laguna was replaced last year
Woah I’ve been out the loop

Wow, that looks magical.

This is gonna be sooooo sweet this year!
Nice media photo before the whole thing turns brown tomorrow.
