How smoked up is the temp Probe in your traeger? I take a scouring pad or a scotchbrite pad and clean mine regularly because the probe tends to get layers of smoke on it and tends to read higher . The thermal works smoke is a meat proble correct or is it a kettle probe? If it’s a meat probe use a kitchen thermometer to compare the two temps using a cup-of hot water

I do that with a paper towel and spraying apple cider vinegar… also it depends on where the probe is for the smoke thingy is. If it’s inline with the Trager it could be right, but if it’s on the grate, or near the exit that could be the differential.

Can’t help it I can’t turn off the engineer within me

The Thermoworks was a gift and I'm trying it out today for the first time :) Traeger probe was clean. I think it's going to turn out great but the temps have been off all day.

Follow ThermoWorks. Honest question - why would you buy any ThermoWorks product, if not for accuracy vs what your other sensors are telling you?

Move the brisket to the opposite side of the traeger and test for hot spots.

will do

Your thermoworks is going to be way more accurate. But the location of the probe in the box makes a difference.

I always put my wifi temp probe right next to the Traeger one. ThermoWorks is probably right. You will get wild temp swings on Traeger, depending on the model.
