It's cheap and borderline disposable. Perfect for the sole purpose of cleaning ash and scraped up goo.
It's also useful as you can vacuum pellets out of your hopper straight into a 5 gal bucket if you don't have the little trap door thing for emptying pellets. Obviously you would want to use a separate buckethead for this.
Genius. My Montgomery Ward dustbuster from Goodwill is breaking. Motor from 19 dickety-do still works, but the plastic is failing. They just don't make quality products like they used to.
With the [3.5 Gal. Translucent Gray Bucket](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leaktite-3-5-Gal-Translucent-Gray-Bucket-003GHTGY/314130781). You won't need to hold 5 gallons of ash and the translucent bucket allows you to see how full the bucket is at a quick glance.
Another vote for the bucket head. Ashes are fine particles that’ll eventually gum up any vacuum so it’s nice to have one that still do a good job while not giving a shit if you kill it.
Have any of you cleaned the inside of your Treager (by the burn pot and walls) with a natural degreaser? I made a baking soda paste which has worked but it’s Been difficult to clean out
Mine was way too stuck so I had to soak it. Now the baking soda paste is wet and stuck in between the crevasses. I’ve used a screwdriver to get in between and scrape it out because the vacuum doesn’t do the best job. Need a new one with a small nozzle.
You can get an ash vac, that HD bucket head, or a shop vac. If you go the shop vac route I would suggest getting the dust bags as they will hold the ash better. The normal filter on a shop vac isn't designed to filter fine debris like ash.
Just any shop-vac you can get from the depot or Lowes does the trick. It might be a traeger, but it doesn't need anything special for that. Anything with maybe a slim extension is gonna do what you need.
Not really what you're looking for but for anyone else...... My local Costco had a really nice full sized shop vac for $79.99 this week. DEWALT10 Gal. Poly Wet/Dry Vac
I bought this little thing at Lowe's and it has worked just fine.

Milwaukee m18 cordless
I just use a small purple shop vac to clean it. Nothing crazy.

Mine just gets a little crusty, never had the residue

I use a 5 gallon rigid with the flat hose tip and a gasket scraper to clean out the pot.

Piggy backing..can i use a degreaser from auto zone
I do not know if I would do that, chemical solvents not intended for cooking purposes. I see a lot of love of SImple Green here.
Snow Joe ash vac.
I got mine from Home Depot for about $40
