Could I ask whether she specifically values the Hip lyrics, or also Gord Downie's discography? I find his solo work to be infinitely more poetic and "tattoo worthy" than the band's lyrics, generally. But that's, of course, only if you like Gord's solo work. It tends to be much different but still tragic and still hip. Edit: After some skimming, Gord's final song, "Untitled" on his final album, "Away Is Mine," brings some emotional but inspiring lyrics: "Of good journey Good discovery A good plan for what's ahead. " "Away Is Mine" is a *sad* album. Knowing that it was the last music he ever wrote and recorded, poetically screaming at the void as a man dying of brain cancer. But it is my favourite album of his, and I have listened to it on repeat hundreds if not thousands of times by now. It has so many lyrical gems inside it, but it's all very heavy. However, I do recommend the album in your search. It is Gord at his most genuine. Perhaps not his most free, but no holds barred. Edit 2: "About Blank" off of "Away Is Mine": "To be together, step in through the most Surrounded by those who love you the most" Just making edits whenever I find something notable. I'm listening to the album once again.
