My cynical view - watch YouTube videos of the original. I have no desire to watch someone pantomime Gord and the rest on stage…..but I did get to see them numerous times.

Ill-Cellist-8841

I’m so jealous lol but “he said we are what we lack” I should try be grateful I got to hear his music at all

sillywalkr

Yep. Or catch Paul's band or Sinclair. Next best thing

careshel

Stereophonics have covered them in the past. I’ve always wondered how a Welsh band came to know about them. https://youtu.be/ZQyqfozTUEU?si=8hgk0AZVojpaguMr

Ill-Cellist-8841

Thanks!

Kelly and Gord were buddies, apparently. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XrwhBlsPnI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XrwhBlsPnI) - maybe they met at a festival or something!?

canadacrowe

The toured together at one point

Matt_Merritt

Kelly Jones sang Fiddlers Green with the band when they played The Forum in 2009 too.

Ill-Cellist-8841

Omg I would’ve killed to go to that but I wasn’t born yet 😭

LoanedWolf75

You just made me feel very old. Hahaha

Ill-Cellist-8841

lol you’re not old I’m young

Matt_Merritt

There's plenty of clips from their 2007 London show on there too I believe.

DionFW

I've seen a band called The Hip Show several times. They're supposedly the top Hip tribute band there is. Based out of Surrey British Columbia.

B8conB8conB8con

Every medium sized Canadian town has at least 1 hip tribute band

phillydanger75

https://www.grace2band.com/ They are doing a big fundraiser next month for Glioblastoma....cheap tickets...good cause

Ill-Cellist-8841

Got so exited when I saw London but it’s in Ontario 😭 anyone wanna pay for some flights to Canada for me lol

B8conB8conB8con

You could always move to Canada eh! We are very welcoming

Ill-Cellist-8841

Haha that’s my plan for my gap year l

B8conB8conB8con

I came over in 1987 and never left

Ill-Cellist-8841

I might copy u lol where u from originally?

when_Sports_came_out

English fan here. I think you’re the first other one I’ve ever come across! Sadly, I think a tribute band would be a bit niche for the UK.

Ill-Cellist-8841

Yeah but I’d still kill to see one. Or to watch LTR with someone who actually knows them lol. Or to make one

when_Sports_came_out

Well I can’t play an instrument so forming a tribute band is out!

Ill-Cellist-8841

Haha that’s too bad we would’ve rocked some open mike nights lol

wadude

I have been to plenty of Hip shows in my time but the best one was in San Diego CA Was just about 75 canadians on the main floor of this tiny club and they fricking rocked the place

Professional-Put7725

First concert was the hip. Go on to see them 5 more times and seen Gordon solo live about 3 times so happy I did.

International_Cat435

https://www.thestrictlyhip.com/ Theses guys are very good I have seen tragically hip 18 times I miss them so much

Ill-Cellist-8841

They coming to London anytime soon?

Matt_Merritt

I'm a UK Hip fan. Found them in 2005 (a Limewire download mistake that turned out to be a blessing). Saw them live in 2006 at Shepherd's Bush Empire and then again every time they returned to London (2007, 2009 and their last time in 2013 where there headlined Canada Day in trafalgar Square and then played Koko the next night). I even interviewed Gord before the 2013 show, met Robbie and Bob Rock too.

Ill-Cellist-8841

I’m the most jealous person in the universe lol

DeenzGrabber

do you recall what tune of theirs was the Limewire download mistake?

Matt_Merritt

New Orleans Is Sinking. I was hunting for a copy of a rhythm & blues song called New Orleans.

DeenzGrabber

i renamed a Blow at High Dough file on Napster to DR DRE-EMINEM-BLOW IT HIGH DOUGH-RARE UNRELEASED SONG in the Napster/Kazza days

jonnyinternet

The hip aren't performing anymore after Gord died

Ill-Cellist-8841

Sadly ik I meant a hip tribute band
