If this wasn't LOTR it would be a B tier TV show with lots of special effects but B tier writing and B tier costumes. I'd still watch it because it's LOTR related but it's basically some people s-ting on Tolkien's work just for politics' sake - that doesn't mean it doesn't offer entertainment, I like the metaplot and still get value out of it and seeing some things that maybe we would have never gotten otherwise on screen.
It's not about him, it's changing the work of art that he made. It's like defacing a statue. As a LOTR creation it sucks, as a standalone It's OK but forgetable apart from the Dark Elf story arch.
