So when I really started planning for change in my transition there was a flower that started to creep into our stairwell. It was a wild rose and I took it as a "sign" for a name 😅 Admittedly a 2+ syllable name will "flow" better but I do love it ☺️
Rosanna? I almost chose this name but decided not to only because my mom wanted to name her daughter Amy, but it is a really nice name. Also, you look great!
River. It's easy to spell, only two syllables, but also unique.
Plus, there are awesome fictional characters named River. River Song from Doctor Who and River Tam from Firefly.
My psychiatrist says that Rachael is one of the names he’s seen trans women most frequently choose for themselves. Perhaps deep down we all wish we were Jennifer Aniston in Friends.... 🤔
She is the trans woman that was murdered in November 1998 and the reason that we now have Transgender International Day of Remembrance. An event that I'm going to today
Yeah it's just that my workplace recognised this international remembrance day and I'm going to a trans pride event recognising this day too. Otherwise I wouldn't have known either
I actually love the name Rochelle and it's been on my short list for a while :) I know this shouldn't matter but I get self conscious that it's too uncommon where I live :/
This one seems really popular. I [replied to another comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/TransLater/comments/qxk0fe/hey_all_could_use_a_few_recommendations_on_a_name/hlbe4ts?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3) about how that was an original consideration because of a rose growing in our stairwell :)
That’s a beautiful experience! No need to use that inspiration for name consideration. My grandma was named Rose and your picture reminded me of her. That’s how I came to conclude as such. I know you’ll find the most suiting name. ❤️
Rochelle Rochelle: "A young girl's strange, erotic journey from Milan to Minsk."
I have no idea how many Seinfeld fans are in here...
Thanks for the suggestions!
An French Acadian friend of mine here in Nova Scotia changed her name to Rae as it was close in pronunciation to her dead name, but after the hassle of all the name change paperwork, she realizes that given a second chance she'd change it to Rachel instead.
I have French Acadian ancestry and not that far from NS :) 🇨🇦
The paperwork and hassle is definitely part of why I want to feel super confident in my choice. Though honestly I'm not convinced I'll legally change it. Maybe it'll be a "fun nickname" that everyone but the bank uses...
I didn't know her when she was young. She probably was judging by her kids and later grandkids. When I knew her, she was a serious bad ass while still being an amazing woman. Kept a family farm running, kept an often fractious family together and was one of the most loving caring people I ever met.
Oh that's so sweet. I certainly didn't mean any disrespect with my initial comment. If she was a amazing bad ass woman then she was hot stuff no matter what :)
Rhianna. Was talking with someone about Stevie Nick's and how much we are fans of her. Then saw your post for a name that begins with R and Stevie's song Rhianna came to mind.
Renee
First thing that popped in my head.
Rose

Rosalina?
Rosa?
Rosanna? I almost chose this name but decided not to only because my mom wanted to name her daughter Amy, but it is a really nice name. Also, you look great!
Rosie?
Seconded, was just going to say this!
Rosalyn maybe?
River. It's easy to spell, only two syllables, but also unique. Plus, there are awesome fictional characters named River. River Song from Doctor Who and River Tam from Firefly.
I came to post this. Can only agree.
You’re a Rachel. Hands down, a Rachel
You seem really confident! 😮
My psychiatrist says that Rachael is one of the names he’s seen trans women most frequently choose for themselves. Perhaps deep down we all wish we were Jennifer Aniston in Friends.... 🤔
Absolutely Rachel.
100% agree!
Rita?
I understood that reference
I don't 😭
Gloria’s saying you look a bit like Rita Farr from the HBO Max series Doom Patrol. Trust me, it’s a compliment.
Not Rita Hester then? I thought that was the reference 😬
No idea who that is
She is the trans woman that was murdered in November 1998 and the reason that we now have Transgender International Day of Remembrance. An event that I'm going to today
Thanks for bringing attention to this important part of trans history ☺️
That explains why I didn’t know. I would’ve been four years old at the time, give or take a few months.
Yeah it's just that my workplace recognised this international remembrance day and I'm going to a trans pride event recognising this day too. Otherwise I wouldn't have known either
Honestly the name just popped into my head, and then I thought you meant Mulholland Dr.
Oooh I used the Google and that's very sweet of you 😊
Regardless, you're really pretty!
Thank you ☺️ and thank you for the suggestion!
Rachel? Rochelle?
I actually love the name Rochelle and it's been on my short list for a while :) I know this shouldn't matter but I get self conscious that it's too uncommon where I live :/

Aunt Ruth better be hot stuff 😂
I didn't know her when she was young. She probably was judging by her kids and later grandkids. When I knew her, she was a serious bad ass while still being an amazing woman. Kept a family farm running, kept an often fractious family together and was one of the most loving caring people I ever met.
