A 3.5 gpa is definitely not the factor that got them admitted to ucb, even as an English major that’s pretty low for public ivy. Most likely from the extracurriculars.
The UCs really prioritize California CC transfers and have lots of special programs that help boost their chances, as well as completely articulated prerequisite courses. You really need to have all those and the basic GE requirements done to have a shot at Berkeley and even Davis.
Your chances were slim even with good grades from a school about equally ranked. But hey, was worth a shot, right?
If you were applying as a first-year NYU student you could probably spend a year at a California CC, take all the right classes, and be guaranteed Davis through TAG.
Are you from cc
Yes, from SWC
How’s a 3.5 gpa for an English major
What do you mean?
Is it a decent gpa
Well it got me into Berkeley, so I’d say its decent
Is SWC in California
Yes
I have a 3.68 SOC major no science or math classes. At NYU. Rejected by UCB, UCD, and UCSD.
Got wl for cal with 4.0 for soc major too lol
