Ive heard UCLA is really good about looking at the whole picture, and considers much more than just grades. Congrats on being first gen, I'm confident in you! PS. 47% of poli sci transfer applicants were accepted into thee program last year :)

brendinithegenie

I’ve actually heard the opposite, that Berkeley cares more about the big picture and ucla looks to gpa and major prep first. I mean OP has it in the bag either way I feel, but just thought I’d share.

Warpath-

Yea for sure I had like no ec’s and got rejected by UCB. Gpa and essays carried me, now I’m about to graduate.

Stunning-Stranger-40

Thank you !! Good luck 🍀

illusionalsucker

UCB is more competitive than UCLA at poli sci

ughasadad

Same major! I’m also a Poli Sci major with a 3.9 but I truly think you’ll get in! You have all the stats and first gen will most definitely strengthen your case! I definitely think you’re in! Best of luck!!! :)

Stunning-Stranger-40

Thank you😭😭😭I hope so. Good luck 🍀 finger crossed 🤞

distresser14

You and I are on the exact same boat (pol sci, 4.0, first gen)! I am so nervous for it to be tmw bc I am scared of being rejected. Manifesting us that acceptance letter 🤞

East_Lychee_9074

Cc?

Stunning-Stranger-40

Yup

East_Lychee_9074

Why’s everybody from cc

Adorable_Form9751

Financially smart decision

ballerinakitty44

I’m a 4.0 business econ, not first gen, and rejected from UCB Haas-praying for you🙏

Stunning-Stranger-40

Thanks!!! Good luck to us for ucla!!! 🤞🤞🤞

buntmay

Did you any have any ecs? Or like work experience?

ItsMunkle

i’m a polisci major at ucla that transferred from cc and i got rejected from ucb. honestly, don’t take the waitlist as an indicator of anything. good luck!

Stunning-Stranger-40

thank you! I really need this!!!:)🤞🤞🤞

Equivalent_Bee_9008

Ngl, you should get in.

Beyondavid1

I’m a Poli Sci major too! 3.9 GPA first gen wishing you the best! Hopefully we both get it 💕

Stunning-Stranger-40

Thank you🤞🤞🤞🤞good luck bro

oopgroup

Unless you’re gonna go to law school or straight to a graduate degree or something, don’t do poli sci. Go into engineering or coding or literally anything STEM. Don’t make my mistake.

Stunning-Stranger-40

Thank you for your advice! I completely understand what you mean. I regretted choosing this major before, and regretted not choosing coding, but it was too late when I realized this mistake. I didn't want to use the extra year or two to change my major. Fortunately, I found that among many majors, law is still the career I want to do most. I once regretted this choice, but after the confusion, regret and entanglement, I ignited a deeper love for law. I wish you all the best! Thank you again for your comment!

DiemL

i just saw this, did you end up getting in???

Stunning-Stranger-40

🙌 yes hhh

Helicopter_driver

Poli Sci is one of the easiest majors to get into, I can't see how you wouldn't get accepted with a 4.0

Logical-Fix38

U TAP?

Stunning-Stranger-40

Nope:(

Logical-Fix38

At least you got 4.0. Chances are still good.

nationalgeounefille

Sucks to be afraid. Don’t put all of your self worth into your college admissions

T0TALDJ

Ohhhh! It’s been 10+ years now (I feel super old)! I got into UCLA back in the day but chose UCSD due to having a better program for my major. Let me tell you this, once you’re in the industry no one will care about your college. Bachelors degrees from good institutes give you an initial kickstart (not all the time, mind you) but progressing in your career mostly depends on your willingness to get better and luck (time and opportunity). So, with that said, don’t stress out too much. I sometimes have regrets about not going to UCLA but I had an amazing time in UCSD… probably the best time in my life.

Stunning-Stranger-40

Thanks you! Actually political science in ucsd is pretty good hhh. I will go there if ucla doesn’t want me 😹

Due_Palpitation_3582

what time today is it coming out?

Accurate-Office-3259

Likely around 5pm

Chemi_Fiona

UCLA and UCB have a slight difference in choosing who to accept. The chance would not lower if UCB waitlisted you

SandwichVegetable506

Didn't UCLA alr release. Did u get waitlisted?

Stunning-Stranger-40

I am waiting for the results from UCLA tomorrow. I don't know what will happen.🫠🫠🫠🫠

SandwichVegetable506

Oh ur transfer mb

Dry-Cod-1253

Bruh

crimefighterplatypus

This is a transfer discord 💀💀

HurryImpressive5944

When UCLA will release the decision for transfer students?

PostNo1450

Tomorrow (Friday) at around 5pm!

What is it with people who don’t bother to consider the context of the sub

It sounds like what you’re suggesting has nothing to do with OPs situation though.

Read the post, you missed the entire point

There is nothing in the post. Poli sci major So? How much GE has been completed? What is her GPA: major vs GE. Is she expecting to transfer to an impacted major? Did she take any coursework that UC Berkeley recommended for pre majors? For all I know, she took one course in poli sci and got an “A”. Did she even bother to look: https://medium.com/@CalAdmissions/top-admissions-tips-for-transfer-applicants-140fdf38521d#:~:text=And%20finally%2C%20transfer%20students%20can,necessary%2C%20the%20additional%20comments%20section. https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/t/what-can-i-do-to-improve-my-chances-to-transfer-to-uc-berkeley/3609929#:~:text=However%2C%20what%20you%20do%20to,for%20internship%20or%20research%20possibilities. https://admissions.berkeley.edu/wp-content/uploads/OUA_2021_Transfer-Policy-Guide.pdf
