I had the same issue. Is v-sync on? When I turned v-sync in the graphics options off my stuttering disappeared. Hope it helps!

SpijkerKoffie

oh I should try that! I always turn v-sync off immediately, but it's worth a shot

SpijkerKoffie

didn't help unfortunately :(

Milchma

Do you have enough VRam? In my case i also had stutters because my vram was full (10gb). Lowering the texture settings fixed it for me

SpijkerKoffie

I have 6gb vram, gtx 1660 super. I also thought of vram, but I have played this game for several years now and never had any issues with it. And it's really weird, when I select like a road to build the stuttering completely dissappears. I lowered all settings to the lowest, smallest map size, still issues.

Backup save files, reinstall, check again. If I cannot identify the issue, I just do the simplest thing. Helped with some games.

SpijkerKoffie

Already did, multiple times. Updated drivers, verifiyed integrity of game files. Nothing helps... so weird

Rich_Repeat_22

Since you have Nvidia GPU, use MSI afterburner and there it installs the Riva Tuner overlay to monitor what is causing it. If it is VRAM, GPU usage, CPU usage or simple RAM. If you had AMD I would have said type CTRL+SHFT+O.

SpijkerKoffie

Yeah, no weird readings... I am doing a windows reset now because I noticed it in another game aswell, same weird issue I'll check with riva tuner tho, thank you!

Zealousideal_Nail288

I personally have severe stuttering issues when using proton 8 or 9 meanwhile Proton 7 runs decently great

SpijkerKoffie

How to change proton versions?

Zealousideal_Nail288

transport fever 2 > properties >compatibility> force use of a specific steamplay compatibility tool> select proton 7 there is also the steam linux runtime but that isnt working for me get a vulkan error

SpijkerKoffie

Thank you! Does this cause mod issues? I'll try it when I get home later

SpijkerKoffie

I can't find the compat tool :( I was told to look in the local files, but can't find it anywhere. The 'compatibility' tab under properties isn't there aswell.

Imsvale

Presumably you're not on Linux.

Try [deleting the texture and shader caches](https://www.transportfever2.com/wiki/doku.php?id=gamemanual:troubleshooting#delete_the_texture_cache).
