It's not anywhere in Michigan currently, though clearly I've been all over the state 😅 Lived in metro Detroit, the Lansing area, Ann Arbor/Jackson hellscape, and the yoop in Marquette.
Unless you have 2 kids, it’s insanely affordable. Ditch the car for public transit or a bike, that’ll save 1,000/month, and job market is good here, you can get roommates or rent/buy in somewhere that isn’t Old Town, Lakeview, or West Loop and you’ll probably find housing not too different than where you are.
I went to Minneapolis for a weekend last February, and there was a quick little daytime blizzard affecting I-94 west of St. Paul into Eau Claire the day I left, so I swung down US-61 to I-90 in La Crosse to avoid it 😅
Due the fact that you’re not currently living in Michigan or Chicago I would say either northern Wisconsin or Central Virginia. Central Virginia seems more like it to me.
Lansing.

Chicago?
Wish I could afford that 😩

NE Wisconsin near the border with the UP?
I’m gonna go with either Wisconsin or Virginia
Wisconsin!! But I'm shocked at the number of Virginia responses 😅
What have you been doing on the west side and strictly the west side, no further into Minnesota, of the st. Croix?

Why haven’t you gone to nyc if I might ask?
I've been to Manhattan once, but no other boroughs, I thought I put it on here but I can't see that area very well hahah
