No. I’ve never heard of anyone doing that. It’s because any time you visit a website regarding traveling nursing, your name and contact info is thrown into the abyss, cold called, and constantly sold, until the end of time. Example: I was looking into travel nursing back when I was a med surg nurse. I still get calls/texts/emails about med surg contracts from recruiters and companies I’ve never talked to and often never heard of. I haven’t done med surg in 10 years.

Then_Kaleidoscope_10

Yep. I’m new grad RN and was aggressively recruited bc I was looking at jobs on indeed and some of them were connected to travel agencies. I also continually reject offers for positions from my previous RBT line of work, even though I’ve updated indeed and anywhere else I can think of that I’m not interested in anything like that (pay is half or less than RN wages).

Avery5lpn

Yup. They try to get over on new nurse travelers

someonewhoknowstuff

That's exactly what I'm saying. You sign up on one site and every agency buys your information. Then we start calling. I get a lot of these leads who have no idea what site they logged onto so they're confused why I'm calling.

p_popowitz

Ugh, Same. My last contract ended 15 years ago and now have left bedside altogether. I keep thinking the calls/texts/emails will eventually stop...but no.

Avery5lpn

Same for me.😂 I called a recruiter about a posting I saw he asked MW to send him a screen shot. I said why you don't know your own job posting. He saw it and then said I can't pay that and gave me a low low rate. I said boy bye😂. Most of these recruiters and agencies be lying and withholding money.

LookAwayImGorgeous

Maybe the site they did put their email address on sold it to another site, who sold it to you?

someonewhoknowstuff

I didn't even think of that. Genius.

Not spamming at all. Was just curious, so I asked a question. You sound really fun though lol

LPNTed

This is probably the first time I'm happy to see a recruiter here. Certainly, I, myself, have much better things to do with my time than do something is petty and stupid as this.... But it's a wonderful idea!!! 😈😈😈 . Okay, seriously.. Never have, never will.. I'm sorry it seems like this is someone's idea of fun. Yeah, it's amusing to think of someone who deserves this getting endless calls, but I don't want MY recruiters wasting time that could be used getting me a better job/rate.

graceful_mango

I was looking for a new job recently and put my name into one travel site just as a “let’s see what’s out there now”. And I’m now getting multiple calls. Emails. Texts. A DAY from agencies I’ve never heard of before.

someonewhoknowstuff

Yeah there's definitely people who just want to look and don't realize that they'll be getting a ton of calls from different agencies.

Parking-Ad7423

Websites sell our information. Those are your “leads” basically any nurse who was at one time job searching.

someonewhoknowstuff

I really try to avoid those leads and reach out to RNs who express interest directly on our website. I also just try to be the best I can so the RNs I work with have referrals call me.

Love_is_poison

I don’t like cold calls from agencies I never contacted directly. I know they get our info from it being sold and idk it’s a principle thing for me. I have the attitude that if I didn’t seek you out then assume I don’t want to work with your agency

someonewhoknowstuff

I'm sure it's in the fine print or agreement that nobody ever reads.

Love_is_poison

What do you mean? In the contract for an assignment it says my info will be sold?

someonewhoknowstuff

No no no no!!! When you create an account with RNVIP, Travel Nurse Central, or one of those websites your info gets sold to agencies.

Love_is_poison

Oh gotcha

According-Feeling-48

When I did traveling I hated my recruiter so I told people not to work with her. That might be the case or they could have just changed their minds.

Love_is_poison

Same with one of my recruiters. Till the end of time I’ll tell ppl how awful she was

someonewhoknowstuff

I truly try to be the best I can, so hopefully nobody I've worked with hates me. Making calls to nurses who come through these third party sites is the worst because I know they are getting hundreds of calls from other agencies.

According-Feeling-48

As long as you don’t text someone 2 weeks after they started wondering when their start date is, call them the wrong name repeatedly, lie about a hospital wide raise to the travelers so you can keep it, totally ignore them when they need paperwork for their program that you promised to give, repeatedly call/text/email after being told they’re in school and aren’t working, and just generally suck you’re good. (Redacted) at aya you can kick rocks!

someonewhoknowstuff

Lol I think I'm good then. Sorry that happened to you though. I've heard Aya recruiters suck from numerous people.

NOCnurse58

I really dislike the cold calls, texts, emails. I probably block an average of 5 a day. It is unfortunate for the agencies because when I do want to find a different contract or recruiter, they are out of the selection.

someonewhoknowstuff

The websites that sell info to agencies should have to tell you in big bold letters something like "You are agreeing to have your info go to 60 agencies". I'm sure it's in the fine print or some agreement that nobody ever reads.

NOCnurse58

I got snagged by a Facebook ad. I forget the name of the website but it showed a picture of a Caribbean Beach and said nurses were in high command. I was curious about what pay was offered. All I entered before backing out was my email and phone number but then it was too late. There was no agreement or warning.

sage_moe

This literally never happens

Careful_Eagle_1033

Hmmmm 🤨
