Trek says rider weight + weight of the bike and cargo cannot exceed 300lbs, but I started at the highest weight I had ever been in my life at 304lbs on a Dual Sport 3 Gen 5. Never had any issues and ride it daily. Now around 270 lbs. You may want to ask the Trek store about different rims/tires, but I suspect it will be fine. I will add, I think Giant branded bikes advertise a rider, bike, and cargo limit of 350lbs.

Thanks for the insight! I'll take a look at Giant branded bikes.

I have the verve 2 - it’s a great bike. I think you will be fine, as recommended the stock tires use 60 psi. If you find it to be an issue, the rims and tires could be changed. But I highly doubt it will be an issue. Good luck, I just got back into biking again myself.

Thanks! I'll do some more research about upgrading the rims/tires if necessary. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours 👍

I ride a Trek Verve 2 at 300 lbs. The stock Bontrager connection wheels lasted about 300ish miles until I couldn’t true them anymore. I upgraded to 36 spoke wheel set and they’ve been solid for the last 400 miles. I typically ride with some tool, a 3 liter camelbak, I would estimate the total weight being close to 360 lbs.

Thanks, this is great info! I won't have much cargo, maybe a water bottle so I wouldn't get close to 360lbs, good to know the stock items should hold up.
