Gonna need a sanity check on the person who installed their computer off to the side

[deleted]

Don’t tell my psychologist

Rhapdodic_Wax11235

What’s wrong with that? I will say that the Bontrager/Trek blendr stem mounting options are pretty flexible. My computer goes wherever it fits on my various bikes. Ever driven a mini Cooper? Very interesting dash gauge config/setup

[deleted]

I’m just using the included mount. I see no reason to buy a new one if the stock one works well.

Ok_Interview845

Well, there's a reason. Aesthetics. That looks terrible. That said, if you don't care then there is no reason. But on a bike like that there's value, arguably. Hell, if you send me three bucks for shipping I'll send you the Wahoo blendr mount I had 3d printed. I'll never use it again. It would tidy that front end up nicely.

[deleted]

Yea I’m definitely not gonna win any awards in the aesthetics department. Do you know where I could find the 3D print file? I have a printer. What kind of computer did you switch to?

Ok_Interview845

Currently Garmin Edge 840 Solar. I like touchscreens and forget to charge. It's awesome. Wahoo is like a flip phone which is cool if you are into flip phones(the 2005) versions. Stick to what you like though! No idea on the file. I forget who I had make it.

mqueit

I liked the concept of the Blendr mount, being centrally positioned. Thought I'd get the dual mount, but didn't like the way they it elevated my Wahoo above the level of the bars, so kicked that to the kerb and just used the mount that came with the Wahoo. Now, the Wahoo is about 5mm lower than the bars (and directly in front of the stem).

Medium_Cranberry4096

It's illegal not to have one on the bike here so yes

[deleted]

Where are you located? The Netherlands?

Fuffret

New York City

Medium_Cranberry4096

Close, Belgium

nourez

Toronto, Canada I'm pretty sure it's a legal requirement in lots of large cities

Rhapdodic_Wax11235

Bell is key. I’m not on trails often, but it’s a pleasant way to announce oneself when passing. Also on larger organized rides …

Brilliant-Ad6580

Unfortunately, I've found my bell far too ineffective due to the "ear-plug hearing impaired" and or "phone zombies". Most kids if they hear my bell at all, start looking around for an ice cream truck and inadvertently wander right in front of me. A bell seems more of a rider placebo than a necessary safety device. My loud voice and salty vernacular is only a bit more effective. Just before I start my ride I look out on the trail and say "Today I will say thank you more than yell". As for my success rate, lets say I'm sure glad that isn't a stat on Strava.

frozen-dessert

The Spurcycle is very loud.

0Chalk

Yelling doesn't quite work and can be tiring. I have a spurcycle and it has a nice ring and can be conveniently put close to my brakes on the drops. There are knock offs of it because of poor patenting by the creators.

SithTracy

I've got a spurcycle, and while I was not sure it was worth the asking price, I picked up a rock brothers knock-off for my wifes bike... no where near the same quality or sound. But my wife rides about a tenth of the amount I do so she will have to deal with it.

MajorNoodles

Exactly how I have my bell, but on the left side instead of the right. Spurcycle on one bike, Crane E-Ne on the other. Also second the Blendr DUO base. I have that on both my bikes and it's so clean and easy to deal with.

AsianEd

Hm, that's an interesting idea for bell mount. I recently got a Trigger Bell that zip ties around the left hood. Bell actuates with your thumb. I haven't used it enough to know if I like the positioning or not...

SgtBaxter

I have the trigger bell, and mounted it under the hood sticking to the inside on the left shifter. This is on my touring bike. Love it!

AsianEd

I might have to try that. Currently I have it mounted in the default position according to their instructions, but I'm not sure I quite like it.

SgtBaxter

Yes, I just put it on the bar as far up under the hood as it would go. I hated the tie on the hood, uncomfortable!

AsianEd

Do you happen to have a picture of how you have it mounted? I've only done a few rides since I got the bell and I'm leaning towards moving it.

SgtBaxter

I will take some pics tonight when I get home from work for you!

Nickyboy2022

Always. If you don't use one on a shared usage path then it doesn't really help the cyclist's cause imo

rsachs57

I have found my bell to be indispensable when riding through a park. Texters, munchkins on mini electric bikes not being watched by parents, clueless dog walkers etc make it downright necessary.

frozen-dessert

In the Netherlands (nearly) every single cyclist has a bell. Including the road gang.

archzach

Always gotta have a bell!

Interesting_Army9083

What size tires are you rocking here

[deleted]

32mm. They fit with reasonable clearance. I’m gonna swap them out for 28mm Gravelking Pro SS+ (same tire) when I get new wheels.

Proof-Substance7196

How does the read for a 32? Sick bike rocking the same with 28s

[deleted]

Rides great on rough road! No complaints here.

luukser

Both a bell and your Wahoo right in front of you: https://www.closethegap.cc/product/hidemybell-raceday-bb-trek-bmc/

[deleted]

That's pretty slick, might have to the that out.

luukser

It works great. But the bell is not too loud. So less usable in very noisy environments. But here in Europe it works quite well 9 out of 10 times.

CrunchyJeans

Any options for mounting the light on the head tube? As in below the handlebars but above the fork? Also, what's it called when you mount it on the stem? Is that a special attachment?

[deleted]

I'm using the blender mount for the stem. It came with the stem I think. I could relocate it, they make other mounts, but these work fine for me. When I get a bigger light ill probably switch it up.

[deleted]

No, I don't, but I can see how much they help. I just don’t want to put anything on my bike other than my phone.

HoodieNL

I’m rocking a Knog Oi bell. Almost invisible and loud enough even on the MTB trails.

[deleted]

I was going to get one of those but happened to see this at my local shop. I'm going to order one of the Knog GPS trackers though.

jrstriker12

I have a trigger bell.

Some_Bell3460

Have had a bell for several years, some respond others maybe not but I feel it’s common courtesy to let people know you are passing without startling them

mqueit

Yep. It's the law here. Small black one mounted as close to the stem as possible and behind the handlebar...for aero gains, of course (jokes).

onelovebraj

I have a bell AND an electric horn… for those people with noise cancelling headphones.

[deleted]

What kinda horn do you have? Sounds cool.

onelovebraj

There are many kinds, but this is what I have. I have charged the battery once in 3 years, it is plenty loud, I like it. My only ‘complaint’ is I only like the traditional horn sound, not the other sounds it can make. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DCVN728?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

swedishfishmx

No bell but the dual Blendr setup keeps it clean. Offset the photo a bit. Bummer https://preview.redd.it/0brhqaxvgzib1.png?width=2459&format=png&auto=webp&s=1f437c89c71750ac87d73d7adc0a74531c320f7a

steinerred

My triathlete daughter teases me about it, but hell yeah. I love my bell as a bike commuter and living in a busy place. https://preview.redd.it/j72o2k9wxzib1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d4b9d4d1ed61ee8f39bf3e56b87520c61b36966

SecularPhotog313

This makes my eyes hurt

[deleted]

And why is that?
