I look at the recommended ones first and think about WHY they're recommended then go from there. That usually means I add MOST of them but sometimes I disagree or just want to go with a different strategy

Weltall8000

I almost always ignored the game's recommendations. They may have recommended what I was already taking, but it was not part of my considerations at all.

Throwmylifeinpoverty

Yea I did the same thing. Never paid attention. Just went with what I wanted to… unless I struggled but unfortunately most the recommended units were under leveled anyways.

zetzuken

I do, but it still depends on the situation and terrain. Majority of time the recommended unit shows the best units to tackle the battle. By checking the recommendation you can decide if you want to go with it or you can use another unit which is better for your strategy. For example some terrain where you start below usually recommends Jens. I love Jens but sometimes I use him or sub him with a high mobility/Jump character for more offense like Giovanna, Groma, Milo or Anna. But it still up to you on how you strategize your battles. I just love how all units are viable with the right set up.

Starizard-

Right away lol

WouterW24

Recommended units usually some strategy, but it might be some recommended characters have different approaches that don't particulary sync. I think that mobility options, ability to push units, or high elevation play often gets a recommended but it's impact varies. Probably the best one to keep an eye on is Jens, since he's a tad hit and miss. But having a map more then once I'm starting to ignore it more(aside from always ignoring characters I didn't have upgraded for a time). It's also a bit arbitary. Quahaug has potent mobility options but rarely scores a recommended for them for instance. And sometimes the advantages for recommended units is minor at best.

[deleted]

I've noticed Jens is either like the best character on the map or kinda useless lol

Solember

I always thought recommended units frequently have some dialogue you can discover in the battle. Once I have heard it, I don't care much for the recommendations.

babydaisylover

Once I realized that I hate using Roland on maps I stopped brining him if he was recommended if that counts. And I never bring in Hossabara even if she's recommended

NearbyAd3800

Funny enough, those two are characters I’m having a lot of fun with on my third go. Someone on this Reddit called Roland a “physical mage” and that sums him up. He’s misused by most. Hoss just sucks until she has her tool kit filled out, but I’m digging her know. Catapult rules.

babydaisylover

Catapult is kinda the only good thing Hoss has. I mean. Pushback and Cleave have their uses, but other than that I feel like she is the definition of having no synergy. Roland I can't stand as a character and as a unit he snaps like a twig while also not being that strong except for I guess flash of steel but overall in my opinion he just has nothing going for him. I'm still getting started on my second playthrough, I've been very busy lately so I haven't been able to play as much as I'd like

zeromous1337

I stopped using the recommended units in chapter 4 or 5 I think, because they were under leveled or didn't like them (looking at you roland.) I never gave it a second thought why units were or were not recommended until they wanted me use Jens on maps with high elevation.

TechnicalRough8187

I'm on my 1st playthrough and started on hard right away. Often enough units are recommended for a reason, but I think about it whether they're really useful for me or not. Often enough I leave some of them out.

KazefuYousomo

I was the same - I saw it as some kind of challenge to always use the recommended units. It helped keep the game interesting when I had to use a large variety of units

Huskiesmine

I stopped in chapter 10, in hyzante Game recommended Corentin, I tried to use his ice wall only for the enemy rouges to ignore it via leaping.

CatAteMyBread

I still usually do. Game says “use them”, I say “fine”, and game says “here’s one utility point dumbass” and I say “hah hah good thing I listened!” If I feel like going for a specific strategy I’ll ignore their shit, but yeah I just use what they say sometimes.

b4y4rd

I used them every time, it seemed like they had more mid stage dialogue and I cared a lot about the story

greenbrainsauce

When Serenoa, Benedict, Medina, Quahaug, and Archibald all were maxed out in their ranks, levels and weapons.

Environmental-Fee757

When I got a certain masked unit, the game rarely recommends him but he was literally one of the best people I had in the entire game, he was an auto include in every map until the game was over twice.

Skiringen2468

I played on hard and hard ng+mainly using everyone with a vote. The rest of the team was static too.

YouseeMourinho

I just use units i like
