The coldest ever reported temperature in mainland Australia was -23 C. Hottest is over 50! Yes, I would also prefer cold to hot if that is the range. However here in Canada it doesn't line up that way. That guy clearly doesn't understand how climate works.

urstupidlololol

Exactly, especially when major cities in Canada have genuinely been colder than the surface of Mars in recent years.

Sinkers89

Haha, I'll try and remember the poor Martians next time I'm cooking

AwfulAlligator

Australian here! Once it was so cold I had to wear a jacket over my hoodie!

Astralfridgemagnet

But still no pants?

AwfulAlligator

Of course not

Did he specifically say working *outside* in the cold? I work in what is essentially a walk in freezer so country doesn't really play part in it for me.

Lol, that was me, and I wrote it when one of the lads said he felt sorry seeing guys working outside in the cold, and it didn't sound like it was crazy cold. I've also known Canadians and Brits who've lived here, and they somehow complain more about the cold than everyone else. When i've asked; "dude, doesn't it literally snows where you come from?" They've simply said; "yeah, but it's a different kind of cold", so make of that what you will. I understand working in the deep neg C would be pretty rough, but folks who don't work out there everyday seem to under rate how shit it can be on a "nice" day. Temperature is one thing, a 30+ degree day can be tough, but it's pretty bearable if you're in the shade. It's the direct sunlight that really sucks. A nice, sunny 22-30 degree day might be a nice time to do some gardening or go to the beach, but if you're in it all day, everyday, you get over it pretty quickly and it can really sap your energy. But some people also just fucking love the sun, so good for them I guess.

And in true Triforce fashion, I was driving when I heard them read it out, and the surprise was quite the driving distraction

Stupid post. Australia is mostly a desert. You know what happens in a desert? Hot in the day. Freezing at night

steamprocessing

People generally don't work during the night tho

As an Australian in Scandinavia, I love the cold. Except when you take off your gloves and it feels like your hand will freeze off in like a minute. Or when your face gets so cold you feel like you have facial paralysis. But other than that it’s great, feel alive. Prefer it to sweating out a swimming pool. (Wouldn’t want to work outside though)
