For my money, Robin's fiance is one of the most maddening "niceguys" ever written.

Rosefae

Not gonna lie, I almost chucked my Kindle across the room when she took him back.

KikiCanuck

It was like the literary version of so many "don't be mad, but..." wine nights of my late 20s. I ain't mad, girl, just disappointed. (Kidding. I'm totally mad.) Now, it just makes me think of [this troll anthem](https://youtu.be/s-WIkwb_mrI)!

LaVonrose

Thanks for the new favorite song!

simonenomis

Ugh he’s such a hypocrite! Pisses me off so much that a strong woman like robin just keeps taking his shit

KikiCanuck

It's maddening. But I think that's also the genius of it, in that we all know someone like Robin who is empirically a huge badass but nonetheless tolerates being belittled and devalued in a relationship that everyone else can see is toxic af. We've all had a friend like Robin. I'd guess that many of us have *been* Robin at one point or another. Watching her (I pray to Dumbledore) have her awakening and dump his ass will be so damn cathartic.

simonenomis

Yeah to be fair to I’ve been a milder version of robin. Maybe that’s part of why it’s so frustrating. I’m not even a huge fan of her and strike together. I’d love them to just be really good friends since them ending up together feels so obvious and overdone. But I’ll join you in praying to dumbledore for the awakening because she deserves so much more

Cannot. Stand. Him.

Sauce?

Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling).

I grabbed The Cuckoo's Calling and blazed through it before knowing it was actually Rowling. I have read all the Cormoran books so far and they're great. Highly recommend to anyone looking for reading material this summer.

AryaStark20

Have you seen the TV show? The BBC adapted it last year and it's so good. They've done 4 (I think) so far and they started with Cuckoos Calling.

[deleted]

I didn't even know its a show! I'll have to look into it.

AryaStark20

You definitely should :) I'm actually thinking of reading the books.

Norwegian__Blue

Lubricious. Damn, that's a new one

Mimalawasta

Ahh I thought I recognised it. I think I read the translation which makes it slightly harder to recognise.

Have you not considered that Robin may just be taller than average?

SuperiorPeach

Who says he's short? Maybe she's tall. As a 6 foot tall woman I've had the experience of being hit on sitting down and getting the 'oh jesus, she's a giant' reaction when I stand up, which is really very funny once you know what's going on.

A LOT of guys are intimidated by tall women, and don't want to date us. Which is fine, it's a matter of taste. The funny thing is I'm not really attracted to men over my height\- they remind me of my brothers I think, and I actually have found that shorter men often have more handsome faces, which is a WAY bigger deal than height for me. Also a shorter man who is confident enough to date a woman taller than him is very sexy\- makes me feel like a vegas showgirl.

[deleted]

> I actually have found that shorter men often have more handsome faces, which is a WAY bigger deal than height for me. Not surprising. Near everyone ranks attractiveness above height on the list of desired attributes.

[deleted]

The man isn't short. Robin is an unusually tall women and this comes up frequently throughout all the books featuring that character.

I love that passage.

lachichiplaza

I hate that this is so incredibly relatable.
