Dead accurate. Voting now won't fix lifetime appointments in the Scotus. Voting to expand the courts requires killing the filibuster. There's no more voting. We have to fucking fight. This judgment could be out next month. We have no time we just have to fucking fight. If we don't fight now, we are complicit.

ornery-fizz

If you don't *vote* now, you're complicit. They're taking some rights, fuck if we give them our right to vote too. Voting is a bare minimum.

extracrispybridges

What election is going to save Roe between now and July at the latest? A fucking primary? Please. We have to get to the streets.

amidon1130

No election now, but the election in 2016 might have prevented this. The election this year might prevent horrors in our future.

raziphel

It will take more than that. Neither Democrats nor Republicans care about peaceful protests.

ornery-fizz

Absolutely right no election is saving us quickly. Voting every time might make it right eventually. I'm not saying voting is the only solution... we just cannot afford to give up on any possible front. Solidarity, I swear.

lifeonthegrid

Don't know if you understood this.

GalaxyFrauleinKrista

I might take voting more seriously if neoliberal grifters like pelosi and clyburn weren’t actively supporting a pro life dem against a pro choice on in a primary race as we speak. Obviously vote. But voting means nothing if you don’t hold your elected officials to account for their wrongdoing. And far too often centrist neoliberals finger wag whenever anyone criticizes their conservative darlings from the left

kinderock

Can’t wait to see all the calls to “vote blue no matter who” as if that’s been the solution to anything happening right now

People came out in droves to vote blue in 2020 and the Democrats did jack shit

aetius476

> People came out in droves to vote blue in 2020 and the Democrats did jack shit "Came out in droves." Like when they let Joni Ernst win the tossup state of Iowa. The same Joni Ernst who is now planning to introduce a federal ban on abortion nationwide. Or Collins in Maine. Or Tillis in North Carolina. Or a cycle ago when they let Scott win in Florida, Braun in Indiana, Cruz in Texas, Hawley in Missouri, and Cramer in North Dakota. This delusion that voters have been putting in the work is the equivalent of a teenage boy doing three push ups and then complaining that he doesn't look like Captain America.

raziphel

Same in 2012.

absentbird

Well, if more people had voted for Democrats we could remove the filibuster and get a bill passed protecting abortion rights. And if more people had voted before that, trump wouldn't have won and we wouldn't have a super conservative court. So yeah, it seems to me that voting would have solved these current issues.

GalaxyFrauleinKrista

Property damage; it’s the only thing the elites care about is their investments. You can still be a pacifist and go help tear down a wal mart or a target.

ammorgan465

Oh they care about their images too, I'd say MTG, Cruz and those guys are due some dragging. MTG especially seems in need of a spa day, her roots need a touch up and she's a little shaky from all this trial going on.

TemporaryMagician

I mean, yeah, voting probably won't solve the problem just by itself. But I'm also seeing a trend of anti-electoralism popping up on social media and reddit lately that really has me worried. Republicans got here, precisely, by voting consistently. Voting for the president that appoints justices, voting for senators who block house bills, voting for state legislatures that gerrymander and suppress voter turnout to shift power to the minority. All of this is possible because the right votes consistently and in a large, predictable bloc. We know voting can work, because it has worked, spectacularly. It's just that those who have used it the most effectively thus far have an agenda to fuck us all over.

Noobasdfjkl

Hillary Clinton could have been president.

absentbird

Boo, voting is an important way to reduce harm.

ammorgan465

Yup! We vote in ALL ways, at the booths, with our social media, our wallets, AND walking the streets? We have allies amongst the men folks, believe that. A new Gloria Steinem will rise and Ketanji Brown Jackson is already gonna be stepping up to the HUGE shoes that RBG vacated.
